  • This study intends to provide the essential data for developing kid's catalog in Korean public libraries. Focus was on the experience and perception of librarians who have provided a service for the children. To the end, this study investigated the children's information behavior and search behavior of OPAC from the viewpoint of librarians, and figured out what barriers are confronted when children are looking for reading materials. On the basis of data, discussed in details are practical considerations for kid's catalogs to improve the information access of children. The data were collected through a survey and depth interview with 29 librarians in public libraries, and referred to the existing OPAC for the discussion.

  • This study aims to track pedestrian behavior in urban linear tourist sites and to analyse their behavioral characteristics. For these purposes, this study has adopted the direct observation, a behavioral tracking methodology, and selected Chenggyecheon in Seoul as the study site, a representative site of urban regeneration. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows: the period of stay and movement distance of pedestrians in the study area are both short and most pedestrian activities, apart from walking, are of a passive nature, such as pitching pennies, reading signs, resting and the like. Spatial points of Chenggyecheon at which pedestrians have exhibited these behaviors during their stay are summarized as 30 points and classified into 3 types: landmarks, bridges and nodes. Further research that combines several tracking methods in terms of urban pedestrian behavior is needed.

  • This study of children's perceptions own and desirable mothers was based on data gathered from answers to questionnaires by 46 preschoolers living in Chunju. The children listened to the stories of 3 picture books based on the interactionist, maturationist, and behaviorist theories of child development. Parenting behaviors were rated by standards of support and control dimensions. The subjects perceived their own mothers' developmental beliefs in rank order of maturationist, behaviorist and interactionist. Most parenting behaviors were perceived to be punishment. The subjects ranked the developmental beliefs of the most desirable mothers in order of maturationist, interactionist, and behaviorist. The most desirable parenting behaviors were perceived to be affectionate expression, recognition, and cooperation. There was no relationship between own and mothers' developmental belief.

  • Communication between human and machine is having been researched from last few decades and still it's a challenging task because human behavior is unpredictable. When it comes on handwritten digits almost each human has their own writing style. Handwritten digit recognition plays an important role, especially in the courtesy amounts on bank checks, postal code on mail address etc. In our study, we proposed an efficient feature extraction system for recognizing single digit number drawn by mouse or by a finger on a screen. Our proposed method combines basic image processing and reading the strokes of a line drawn. It is very simple and easy to implement in various platform as compare to the system which required high system configuration. This system has been designed, implemented, and tested successfully.

  • This paper has main purpose of identifying the difference of the characteristicss of male consumers who have different levels of fashion leadership. 538 male consumers living in Seoul area was surveyed using questionnaire. Sam-ples were surveyed using questionnaire. Sam-ples were segmented as 3 groups by fashion leadership and named fashion leader, fashion follower and fashion retards. Various character-isticss in terms of personality, attitudes, life-estyle activities, magazined readership, use of fashion information sources, shopping behavior, risk perception and demographics analysis among 3 segments. 3 groups showed significant differences in many characteristics such as venturesomeness, cosmopoliteness, ex-tensity of travel, art/culture activity for offtime, reading of male-oriented magazines, in-formation search through fashion magazine, fashion knowledged, shopping preferrence, clot-hing expense. Based on major characteristics of each segment, some tips for marketing strategies were suggested.

  • The purpose of this paper is that which behavior is affected by the storytelling for the visually impaired children. I had a depth interview with the children and their parents who were Participated in the storytelling class, the storytelling teacher and the librarian. And then the material was analysed by the grounded theory. As a result of this research, storytelling is very helpful for the visually impaired children to improve their interest in reading, learning ability and their sociality.

  • In high-speed optical disk drive, the excitation caused by rotation of a mass-unbalanced disk is a major source of vibration. The vibration can be a disturbance to the servo system, which is sufficient to cause severe failures in the reading and writing process. The vibration also causes users to feel unpleasantness. The vibration reduction is therefore essential for the reliable operation of optical disk drive. One of the approaches to reduce the vibration is a dynamic vibration absorber (DVA). In this paper, we analyze the dynamic behavior of $DVD\pmRW$ combo drive system with DVA through 12_dof rigid multi-body dynamic model. The effective location and the optimal frequency ratio are obtained from the analysis.

  • This study deals with characterization and the application of magnetoelasticity as a device which measures existing steel stress. Available method of measuring existing stress needs break the concrete and cut the steel bar. But Proposed method doesn't need to cut the steel bar. A successful application of magnetoelasticity depends on the linearity of the relationship between the elastic and magnetic response due to loading. To investigate the correlation between two, steel bars are loaded in tension under uniaxial loading while the magnetic reading is recorded. Results showed linearity or partial-linearity of the elastic behavior of steel bars in relation to magnetic change. In the paper, the various factors affecting the measurements are also discussed.

  • This study identified the health, academic attainment, violence and abuse factors on predicting the conduct development and emotional symptoms in 'looked after children' placement. A sample of 1,543 children was interviewed regarding emotional and behavioral symptoms and risk factors. Logistic regression was used to assess whether selected variables predicted emotional and behavioral symptoms in 'looked after children'. All placement, health, academic, violence, and abuse factors differentiated behavioral and emotional symptom differences according to selected variables. Binary logistic regression indictors of conduct behavior symptom among 'looked after children', included gender, age, placement, health, violence, and abuse. Placement, health, reading ability, violence, and witnessing domestic violence further predicted emotional and behavioral symptoms. These findings highlight multidimensional approaches to address various vulnerability indicators that have a direct application to prevention and intervention efforts to designed for emotional and behavioral problems among children in public care.
