A problem of handling capacity calculation of berth is very important factor for decision about a port development scale like as the number of berth, size of back storage yard. If handling capacity per berth calculated low, the number of berth is increasing and the size of yard decided for propriety level of handling capacity. The propose of this paper is re-calculate of handling capacity for Busan container port by firstly government plan and actual result of Busan port like as waiting rate, berth share and handling capacity, and then realistic number of crane and berth share to be applied.
This paper assessed the impacts of the specification of the yard, handling equipment, and operation approaches on the expected number of re-handles during the loading operation for empty containers. When the various types of empty containers from multiple shipping liners are placed in separate spaces from each other, then the storage space cannot be fully utilized. So as to increase the utilization of the storage space, empty containers from multiple vessel liners are stored together incurring additional re-handles during the loading operation. Several formulas are derived for the estimation of the expected number of handles, including re-handles, for empty container retrieval from a bay. Transfer cranes and top handlers are utilized as handling equipment and various retrieval strategies are examined. Numerical analysis was conducted to assess the effects of various designs and operational parameters of the container stacking yard on the expected number of handles.
If empty containers from multiple shipping liners are mixed together in the same bay, then the space utilization increases; however, the expected number of re-handles also increases. Formulas for estimating the expected number of re-handles are derived for various storage strategies and two types of handling equipment. The expected number of re-handles is compared, through numerical experiments, among those cases. The results of the numerical experiments are used to analyze the change in the number of expected re-handles according to the change in the retrieval ratio and repair ratio. The impacts of the change in the bay size and the distribution of the storage and retrieval ratio of containers among multiple vessel liners on the expected number of re-handles are analyzed. It is necessary to study efficient operational strategies considering the expected number of re-handles for empty containers.
Due to the strict requirements of emerging applications, per-flow admission control is gaining increasing importance. One way to implement per-flow admission control is using an onpath resource reservation protocol, where the admission decision is made hop-by-hop after a new flow request arrives at the network boundary. The next-steps in signaling (NSIS) working group of the Internet engineering task force (IETF) is standardising such an on-path signaling protocol. One of the reservation methods considered by NSIS is reduced-state mode, which, suiting the differentiated service (DiffServ) concept, only allows per-class states in interior nodes of a domain. Although there are clear benefits of not dealing with per-flow states in interior nodes-like scalability and low complexity-, without per-flow states the handling of re-routed flows, e.g., after a failure, is a demanding and highly non-trivial task. To be applied in carrier-grade networks, the protocol needs to be resilient in this situation. In this article, we will explain the consequences of a route failover to resource reservation protocols: Severe congestion and incorrect admission decisions due to outdated reservation states. We will set requirements that handling solutions need to fulfill, and we propose extensions to reduced-state protocols accordingly. We show with a set of simulated scenarios that with the given solutions reduced-state protocols can handle re-routed flows practically as fast and robust as stateful protocols.
In recent years, the LNGC fleet is expanded unprecedentedly. Ship's owners and shipbuilders are focusing on the idea how they choose the BOG handling system in economical, environmental and safety angles. This paper introduces general information for that and gives technical matters briefly.
In the field of plant maintenance, data that are gathered by sensors on multiple machines are handled and analyzed. Online or pseudo online data handling is required on such fields. When the data occurrence speed exceeds the data handling speed, multiple data should be handled at a time (batch data handling or pseudo online data handling). If l amount of data are received at one time following N amount of data, how to estimate the new parameters effectively is a great concern. A new simplified calculation method, which calculates the N data's weights, is introduced. Numerical examples show that this new method has a fairly god estimation accuracy and the calculation time is less than 1/10 compared with the case when the whole data are re-calculated. Even under the restriction calculation ability in the apparatus is limited, this proposed method makes the failure detection of equipments possible in early stages with a few new coming data. This method would be applicable in many data handling fields.

It is requested to be evaluated whether environmental change in marine traffic passage by maintenance work affect ship handling, safety, when re-design of traffic passage is planned. In the maintenance work, it is also important to evaluate the change of risk and also benefits. However, in a current evaluation index, it is difficult to evaluate the benefit. The recently developed safety index that is led by employing the Unsafe Ship-handling situations model (US-model) is able to estimate risk level of marine accident in a process of a ship handling. We have already reported the relation of the ratio of 10-3 in harbors (Yokohama, Kobe, and Osaka in Japan) [1]. In this study, we acquired the relation of the ratio between the US value and the marine accident at a narrow waterway; Kurushima Strait in Japan, using a ship handling simulator. And we experimented to estimate a marine accident reduction achieved by the maintenance work of the altered shape of passage.
Purpose: The container terminal is an area that plays an important role in the country's import and export. As the volume of containers increased worldwide, competition between terminals became fiercer, and increasing the productivity of terminals became more important. Re-handling is a serious obstacle that lowers the productivity of terminal. There are two ways to reduce re-handling in the terminal yard. The first method is to load containers in terminal yards using effective carry-in algorithms that reduce re-handling. The second method is to carry out effective remarshalling. In this paper, the performance of various carry-in algorithms and various remarshalling algorithms are reviewed. Next, we try to find the most effective combination of carry-in algorithm and remarshalling algorithm. Research design, data and methodology: In this paper, we analyze the performance of the four carry-in algorithms, AP, MDF, LVF, RP and the four remarshalling algorithms, ASI, ASI+, ASO, ASO+. And after making all the combinations of carry-in algorithms and remarshalling algorithms, we compare their performance to find the best combination. To that end, many experiments are conducted with eight types of 100 bays through simulation. Results: The results of experiments showed that AP was effective among the carry-in algorithms and ASO+ was effective among remarshalling algorithms. In the case of the LVF algorithm, the effect of carrying in was bad, but it was found to be effective in finding remarshalling solution. And we could see that ASI+ and ASO+, algorithms that carry out remarshalling even if they fail to find remarshalling solution, are also more effective than ASI and ASO. And among the combinations of carry-in algorithms and remarshalling algorithms, we could see that the combination of AP algorithm and ASO+ algorithm was the most effective combination. Conclusion: We compared the performance of the carry-in algorithms and the remarshalling algorithms and the performance of their combination. Since the performance of the container yard has a significant effect on the performance of the entire container terminal, it is believed that the results of this experiment will be effective in improving the performance of the container terminal when carrying-in or when remarshalling.

In recent years, medium- to large-scale transportation machinery and machine tool manufacturing process lines have shown a trend toward centralization, softening, lightening, and slimming to reduce costs and increase productivity. This has increased the demand for vertical articulated robots. When developing and introducing a heavy weight-handling robot that can be easily applied to existing production lines, it is expected to have a great effect in securing industrial competitiveness by solving industrial issues such as the decreased productivity and increased risk of accidents due to work involving heavy lifting. In this study, we design a 6-axis robot mechanism with a heavy load-handling capacity of 700kg or more for large-sized materials of various types supplied in small quantities.
Purpose: Re-handling is an important factor that reduces the productivity of container terminals. The purpose of this paper is to propose an algorithm to find the order of container movement in order to minimize the number of re-handling in the process of carrying-out. Research design, data and methodology: This paper proposes an algorithm to set the optimal carry-out order and conducted tests to evaluate the performance of the algorithm proposed in this paper. 1. tests comparing the performance of an algorithm proposed in an existing study with that proposed in this paper. 2. Performance tests for bays with complex structures. Results: Test 1 shows that the algorithm proposed in this paper performs better than the existing algorithm. Test 2 shows that the proposed algorithm can also be used in bays with considerably high complexity and that there is no major problem with using it in the field. Conclusion: While we can conclude that the proposed algorithm as a carry-out algorithm is more effective than conventional methods, research is needed on how to handle more complex bays more effectively. This is because the larger the bay, the more container combinations increase, making it difficult to find the best carry-out order.
