New Coordination Approach to Minimize the Number of Re-adjusted Relays When Adding DGs in Interconnected Power Systems

  • The presence of DGs in power system networks tends to negatively affect the protective relays coordination. The proposed method introduces an approach to minimize the numbers of relays that acquire new settings on contrary to their original settings (case without DG), to achieve relays coordination in case of adding DG, since relays coordination with minimum number of relays of re-adjusted settings represents economical target, especially in networks containing mixture of electromechanical and adaptive digital relays. The scheme decides the possible minimum number of re-adjusted relays and their locations in an optimum manner to achieve proper relays coordination in case of adding DGs. The proposed approach is divided into two successive phases; the first phase is stopped when the first relays coordination solution is achieved. The second phase increases the possibility to keep higher number of relays at their original settings than that obtained in first phase through achieving multi solutions of relays coordination. The proposed approach is implemented and effectively tested on the well-known IEEE-39 bus test system.

Numerical analysis of Poiseuille-Rayleigh-Bénard convection in supercritical carbon dioxide

  • The supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) Brayton cycle is an important energy conversion technology for the fourth generation of nuclear energy. Since the printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) used in the S-CO2 Brayton cycle has narrow channels, Rayleigh-Bénard (RB) convection is likely to exist in the tiny channels. However, there are very few studies on RB convection in supercritical fluids. Current research on RB convection mainly focuses on conventional fluids such as water and air that meet the Boussinesq assumption. It is necessary to study non-Boussinesq fluids. PRB convection refers to RB convection that is affected by horizontal incoming flow. In this paper, the computational fluid dynamics simulation method is used to study the PRB convection phenomenon of non-Boussinesq fluid-supercritical carbon dioxide. The result shows that the inlet Reynolds number (Re) of the horizontal incoming flow significantly affects the PRB convection. When the inlet Re remains unchanged, with the increase of Rayleigh number (Ra), the steady-state convective pattern of the fluid layer is shown in order: horizontal flow, local traveling wave, traveling wave convection. If Ra remains unchanged, as the inlet Re increases, three convection patterns of traveling wave convection, local traveling wave, and horizontal flow will appear in sequence. To characterize the relationship between traveling wave convection and horizontal incoming flow, this paper proposes the relationship between critical Reynolds number and relative Rayleigh number (r).

Effect of Boundary Condition History on the Symmetry Breaking Bifurcation of Wall-Driven Cavity Flows

  • A symmetry breaking nonlinear fluid flow in a two-dimensional wall-driven square cavity taking symmetric boundary condition after some transients has been investigated numerically. It has been shown that the symmetry breaking critical Reynolds number is dependent on the time history of the boundary condition. The cavity has at least three stable steady state solutions for Re=300-375, and two stable solutions if Re>400. Also, it has also been showed that a particular solution among several possible solutions can be obtained by a controlled boundary condition.

다양한 노즐 수 변화에 따른 충돌 제트의 열전달 특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Heat Transfer Characteristics of the Multiple Slot Impinging Jet)

  • The present study numerically investigates two-dimensional flow and heat transfer in the multiple confined impinging slot jet. Numerical simulations are performed for the different Reynolds numbers(Re=100 and 200) in the range of nozzles from 1 to 9 and height ratios(H/D) from 2 to 5, where H/D is the ratio of the channel height to the slot width. The vector plots of velocity profile, stagnation and averaged Nusselt number distributions are presented in this paper. The dependency of thermal fields on the Reynolds number, nozzle number and height ratio can be clarified by observing the Nusselt number as heat transfer characteristic at the stagnation point and impingement surface. The Nusselt number at the stagnation point of the central slot shows unsteadiness at H/D=3 and Re=200. The value of Nusselt number at the stagnation point of the central slot decreases with higher Reynolds number and number of nozzle although overall area averaged Nusselt number increases. Hence careful selection of geometrical parameters and number of nozzle are necessary for optimization of the heat transfer performance of multiple slot impinging jet.

전산유체역학을 이용한 직교류 미세관 관군의 전열 성능 해석 (Analysis of Heat Transfer Performance for Mini-Channel Tube Bundles in Cross flow using CFD)

  • 관군은 열전달기기에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있어서 전열성능 및 압력강하 특성은 오래전부터 다양한 연구가 진행되어왔다. 기존의 관군에 관한 실험 및 해석은 대부분 25~51mm 직경의 전열관을 이용하여 Reynolds 수 $8.000{\leq}Re{\leq}30.000$ 범위에서 수행되었으나 최근에는 직경 1mm 안팎의 미세관으로 관군을 만들어 열교환기의 밀집도를 높이려는 데 관심이 많다. 본 논문에서는 이전에 다루지 않았던 관 외경 1.5mm의 관군의 전열성능을 $3.000{\leq}Re{\leq}7.000$ 범위에서 전산유체역학을 이용하여 평가하고 기존의 연구 결과들과 비교하였다. 그 결과 튜브직경이 1.5mm인 관군의 열전달계수와 압력손실계수는 $3.000{\leq}Re{\leq}7.000$ 범위에서도 기존의 Zukauskas 상관식과 최대 4.7% 차이 이내로 일치하였다. 또한 튜브의 횡방향 간격을 줄여서 각 열의 전열성능을 높일 수 있음을 확인하였다.

희토와 클로르테트라시이클인이 육계의 생산성 및 장내 미생물에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Rare Earth and Chlortetracycline on the Performance and Intestinal Microflora in Broiler Chicks)

  • 본 연구는 희토(rare earth RE)와 Chlortetracycline (CTC)의 육계사료에 대한 첨가 효과를 구명하고자 실시하였다. 실험은 pen별 평균 개시시 체중이 비슷하도록 15수씩 평사로 배치하여 4처리구 4반복으로 희토와 항생제-CTC, 그리고 두 가지 혼용였을 경우의 효과를 관찰하고자 0, RE 100 ppm, CTC 200 ppm, RE100 ppm+ CTC200 ppm으로 하였다. 증체량, 사료 섭취량, 사료 요구율이 실험 기간중에 조사 되었으며, 실험 종료후 도살하여 체중에 대한 간 및 복강 지방의 비율과 장내미생물의 변화를 조사하였다. 시험 결과, RE 첨가구가 대조구보다 높은 증체량을 나타냈고(P<0.05), 사료 섭취량은 대조구에 비해 현저히 낮았으며(P<0.05), 사료 요구율도 대조구에 비해 16.08% 개선된 효과를 나타냈다(P<0.05). 생체중에 대한 복강지방의 비율도 RE 첨가구가 대조구 뿐만 아니라 기타 처리구에 비해서도 현저히 감소되었다(P<0.05). 생체중에 대한 간장 무게의 비율은 모든 처리구가 대조구와 비슷한 수준을 보였다. 장내미생물은 회장과 맹장의 미생물에 대한 관찰 결과, 희토첨가로 총 균수와 E. coli의 증식을 현저하게 억제되었으며(P<0.05), Salmonella는 수가 감소되는 경향을 보였으며, Lactobacillus의 수는 차이가 없었다. 이러한 결과 희토는 육계사료에서 항생제를 대체할 가능성을 보였으며, 희토의 첨가로 생산성이 개선되고 복강 지방 감소되는 경향을 보였으며, 장내 병원성 미생물을 억제하는 결과를 보였다.

저궤도 재진입 비행체의 공력해석 (AERODYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF SUB-ORBITAL RE-ENTRY VEHICLE)

  • For Aerodynamic analysis of vehicle at altitude, 100km, the validity of governing equations based on continuum model, was reviewed. Also, as the preliminary study for the sub-orbital space plane development, a candidate geometry was suggested and computational fluid dynamic(CFD) analysis was performed for various angles of attack in subsonic and supersonic flow regimes to analyze the aerodynamic characteristics and performance. The inviscid flow analyses showed that the stall starts at angle of attack above $20^{\circ}$, the maximum drag is generated at angle of attack, $87^{\circ}$ and the maximum lift to drag ratio is about 8 in subsonic flow. In supersonic, the stall angle is about $40^{\circ}$ and the maximum drag is generated at angle of attack, $90^{\circ}$. Also, mach number distribution of re-entry vehicle was computed versus altitudes.

역 유동층 생물막 반응기에서의 생물막 탈착에 관한 연구 (A Study on Biofilm Detachment in an IFBBR)

  • A detachment of biofilm was investigated in an inverse fluidized bed biofilm reactor(IFRBR). The biofilm thickness, 5 and the bioparticle density, Pm were decreased by the increase of Reynolds number, Re and the decrease of biomass concentration, h. The correlations were expressed as $\delta$=6l.6+16.33$b_c$-0.004Re and Ppd=0.3+0.027$b_c$- 2.93x$l0^{-5}$ no by multiple linear regression analysis method. Specific substrate removal rate, q was derived by F/M ratio and biofilm thickness as q=0.44.+0.82F/M-5.Ix10$-4^{$\delta$}$. Specific biofilm detachment rate, bds was influenced by FIM ratio and Reynolds number as $b_{ds}$=-0.26+0.26F/M+ 2.17$\times$$10^{-4}$Re. Specific biofilm deachment rate in an IFBBR was higher than that in a FBRR(fluidized bed biofilm reactor) because of the friction between air bubble and the bioparticles.

정방형 홈을 가진 회전원주 주위의 유동과 유체력 (Flow and Fluid Force around a Rotating Circular Cylinder with Square Grooves)

  • Flow patterns around a rotating circular cylinder having square dimpled surface were visualized by the hydrogen bubble technique at velocity ratios from a=0 to 4.8 and Reynolds number of $Re=1.0{\times}10^{4}$. The wake region of the cylinder was reduced as the velocity ratios increase and was smaller than that of the smooth cylinder without dimples at the same velocity ratio. The hydrodynamic characteristics on the cylinder was investigated by measuring of lift and drag at velocity ratios from a=0 to 4.1 and Reynolds number from $Re=1.2{\times}10^{4}$ to $Re=2.0{\times}10^{4}$. As the velocity ratios increase, the average lift and drag coefficients were increased and at the same velocity ratio, the average lift was larger but the average drag was smaller than that of the smooth cylinder.

원통 및 구형교반조에서의 2단 Paddle 임펠러에 대한 소요동력 (Power Consumption for Double-Stage Paddle Impeller in Cylindrical and Spherical Agitated Vessels)

  • Power consumption for double-stage paddle impeller in spherical and cylindrical agitated vessel was measured over a wide range of Reynolds number from laminar to turbulent flow regions. The power correlation was obtained which was applied to both spherical and cylindrical vessel, when the apparent diameter of the spherical vessel was equal to the diameter of the cylindrical vessel which had a height equal to its diameter and had the same volume as the spherical vessel. The power consumption for the double-stage impeller was dependent upon the distance of among the impeller in the agitated vessels, as follows: $$f/2={\frac{C_L}{Re_G}}+{\frac{Ct}{2}}({\frac{C_tr}{Re_g}}+Re_g)^{-m}$$
