  • Software reliability in the software development process is an important issue. Software process improvement helps in finishing with reliable software product. In this field, SPC (Statistical process control) is a method of process management through application of statistical analysis, which involves and includes the defining, measuring, controlling, and improving of the processes. The proposed process involves evaluation of the parameter of the mean value function and hence the values of the mean value function at various inter failure times to develop relevant time control chart. In this paper, was proposed a control mechanism, based on time between failures observations using Rayleigh and Burr distribution property, which is based on Non Homogeneous Poisson Process (NHPP). In this study, the proposed model is reliable in terms of hazard function, because it is more efficient in this area can be used as an alternative to the existing model. Through this study, software developers are considered by the various intended functions, prior knowledge of the software to identify failure modes to feed to some extent shall be able to help.

  • The Weibull probability density function and the Rayleigh function are compared by analyzing the relations of the capacity factors which are compared the actual wind speed frequency curve with which are modelled using the probability density functions with different mean wind speeds. For this analysis, the wind speed means of arithmetic, root mean square, cubic mean cuberoot, and standard deviations are computed from the measured wind speed data of a specific site and the coefficients of probability density functions are calculated. The capacity factors for Vestas 850[kW] wind turbine are calculated and analyzed. The results shows that the wind speed frequency curve by Rayleigh function is more close to the actual curve than by Weibull function. The more the wind speed frequency curve is close to the actual one, the more the capacity factors become large values.

  • In this article, a new model based on the Rayleigh distribution is introduced. This model is useful and practical in physics, reliability, and life testing. The statistical and reliability properties of this model are presented, including moments, the hazard rate, the reversed hazard rate, and mean residual life functions, among others. In addition, it is shown that the distributions of the new model are ordered regarding the strongest likelihood ratio ordering. Four estimating methods, namely, method of moment, maximum likelihood method, Bayes estimation, and uniformly minimum variance unbiased, are used to estimate the parameters of this model. Simulation is used to calculate the estimates and to study their properties. Finally, the appropriateness of this model for real data sets is shown by using the chi-square goodness of fit test and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic.

  • An error probability analysis is performed far a hybrid DS/SFH spread-spectrum system using minimum shift keying(MSK) modulation. The channel is assumed to be a Rayleigh fading channel with partial-band noise interference. Expressions are derived for the bit error rate(BER) in the context of Rician and Rayleigh fading channels, as a function of the average signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) $E_b/N_0$, the average signal-to- interference ratio(SJR) $E_b/N_J$, and channel parameters. As a result, in the fading channel with large Rician factor, K, which denotes the ratio of power of the direct and the diffused components, the partial-band interference is the worst case. On the other hand, in Rayleigh fading channel(K=0), the full-band interference($\rho$=1) brings the system to the worst case. Performance comparisons among various channels show that the factor K has much large effect on overall performance. For example, in conditions of $\rho$=0.1 and BER=$10^-2$, the system in Rician channel with K=10 requires more 1.9 dB SNR than that in AWGN channel, whereas it is less 5 dB SNR than that in the Rayleigh channel with K=0.

  • The quadratic B-spline finite element method yields mass and stiffness matrices which are half the size of matrices obtained by the conventional finite element method. We solve the free vibration problem of a rotating Rayleigh beam using the quadratic B-spline finite element method. Rayleigh beam theory includes the rotary inertia effects in addition to the Euler-Bernoulli theory assumptions and presents a good mathematical model for rotating beams. Galerkin's approach is used to obtain the weak form which yields a system of symmetric matrices. Results obtained for the natural frequencies at different rotating speeds show an accurate match with the published results. A comparison with Euler-Bernoulli beam is done to decipher the variations in higher modes of the Rayleigh beam due to the slenderness ratio. The results are obtained for different values of non-uniform parameter ($\bar{n}$).

  • For the analysis of natural vibrations of a rectangular stiffened plate with inner cutouts, an application of the Rayleigh-Ritz method is investigated. In construction of the trial function for the Rayleigh quotient, only the outer boundary conditions are satisfied with combination of Euler beam functions. As to the modeling of stiffened plates for the energy calculations, a lumping stiffener-effects method and the orthotropic plate analogy are considered for the purpose of comparison. Some numerical results obtained by the Rayleigh-Ritz method are compared with results by experiments and the finite element method. The following are major conclusions; (1) With the lumping stiffener-effects modeling the Rayleigh-Ritz method gives good results of both natural frequencies and mode shapes. The orthotropic plate analogy in cases of regularly stiffened plates is of restrictive use i.e. acceptable for a small cutout. (2) The natural frequency of a stiffened plate with inner cutouts between stiffeners is higher than that of without cutouts and increase as the hole area ratio increases as long as there are no discontinuous stiffeners due to the cutout.

  • In this work, the free vibration problem of a rotating Rayleigh beam is solved using the meshless Petrov-Galerkin method which is a truly meshless method. The Rayleigh beam includes rotatory inertia in addition to Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The radial basis functions, which satisfy the Kronecker delta property, are used for the interpolation. The essential boundary conditions can be easily applied with radial basis functions. The results are obtained using six nodes within a subdomain. The results accurately match with the published literature. Also, the results with Euler-Bernoulli are obtained to compare the change in higher natural frequencies with change in the slenderness ratio (${\sqrt{A_0R^2/I_0}}$). The mass and stiffness matrices are derived where we get two stiffness matrices for the node and boundary respectively. The non-dimensional form is discussed as well.

  • In this paper, another analytical approach for dual-hop amplify-and-forward(AF) relay systems is proposed over Rayleigh fading channels. Previous approaches derived the moment generating function(MGF) by using the cumulative distribution function(CDF) or probability density function(PDF) of the received signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) for source-relay-destination(S-R-D) link. Then, the average symbol error rate is expressed based on derived MGFs. In this paper, another new approach is proposed. It means that the MGF is directly derived by utilizing PDFs of both source-relay(S-R) and relay-destination(R-D) links. Additionary, the newly derived MGF is compared and analyzed with previous ones. Furthermore, simulation results are presented to validate the accuracy of proposed analytical expression. Based on this, it is confirmed that the proposed analytical approach can be a another solution for dual-hop AF relay systems.

  • Recently several authors have extended the Beta function by using its integral representation. However, in many cases no expression of these extended functions in terms of classic special functions is known. In the present paper, we introduce a further extension by defining a family of functions Gr,s : ℝ*+ → ℂ, with r, s ∈ ℂ and ℜ(r) > 0. For given r, s, we prove that this function satisfies a second-order linear differential equation with rational coefficients. Solving this ODE, we express Gr,s as a combination of confluent hypergeometric functions. From this we deduce a new integral relation satisfied by Tricomi's function. We then investigate additional specific properties of Gr,1 which take the form of new non trivial integral relations involving exponential and error functions. We discuss the connection between Gr,1 and Stokes' first problem (or Rayleigh problem) in fluid mechanics which consists in determining the flow created by the movement of an infinitely long plate. For $r{\in}{\frac{1}{2}}{\mathbb{N}}^*$, we find additional relations between Gr,1 and Hermite polynomials. In view of these results, we believe the family of extended beta functions Gr,s will find further applications in two directions: (i) for improving our knowledge of confluent hypergeometric functions and Tricomi's function, (ii) and for engineering and physics problems.

  • Pilot symbol aided modulation (PSAM) using the conventional sinc interpolation (CSI) achieves nearly the same BER performance as Caver' optimal Wiener interpolation but with much less complexity. The CSI, however, has to use a non-rectangular window function that is applied to the sinc function to smooth out the abrupt truncation of rectangular window. In this paper, we propose the modified sinc interpolation (MSI). With the weighting factor the MSI scheme with no window has almost the same BER performance as the CSI scheme using window, In addition, if we use the MSI with a window its BER performance gets close to that of the theoretical one. We assume the multicarrier QAM system and an optimal frame structure for performance evaluation.
