Comparative Analysis of Written Language and Colloquial Language for Information Communication of Multi-Modal Interface Environment (다중 인터페이스 환경에서의 문자언어와 음성언어의 차이에 관한 비교 연구)

  • The product convergence and complex application environment raise the need of multi-modal interface which enables us to interact products through various human senses. The sense of vision has been used predominantly more than any other senses for the traditional and general information gathering situation, but in the future which will be developed based on the digital network technology, the practical use of the various senses will be desired for more convenient and rational usage of the information appliances. The sense of auditory which possibility of practical use is becoming higher than ever with the sense of vision, the possible usage will be developed broader and in the various ways in the future. Based on this situation, the characteristics of the written language and the colloquial language and the comparative analysis of the difference between male and female's reaction for each language were examined through this study. To achieve this purpose, the literature research about the diverse components of the language system was peformed. Then, some peculiar characters of the sense of vision and auditory were reviewed and the appropriate experimentation was planned and carried out. The result of the accomplished experimentation was examined by the objective analysis method. The main results of this study are as follows: first, the reaction time for written language is shorter than colloquial language, second, there is a partial difference between the male's and female's reaction for those two stimuli, third, there is no selection bias between the sense of sight and the sense of hearing. I think the continuous development of the broad and diverse ways of study for various senses is needed based on this study.

Changes in Physicochemical Properties and Bioactivity of Pesticide Spray Solutions (농약살포액의 이화학적 특성과 생물활성 변화)

  • This study was carried out to establish rational methodologies for the use of pesticide formulations to be sprayed after water-dilution. Hardness and electric conductivity of six major river water and ground water sampled from 52 sites in major rice-growing areas across the country ranged from 5 to 324 ppm(av. 90 ppm) and from 0.038 to 1.078 dS/m(av. 0.265 dS/m), respectively, which are acceptable for diluent water of pesticides. The pH changes in pesticide spray solutions with time after preparation mainly depended on the pH of the water used for pesticide dilution. The surface tensions of pesticide spray solutions reduced slightly with time after preparation, irrespective of kinds of pesticide formulations. Suspensibility of WPs became worse with an increase in the hardness and salt concentrations of diluent water, even though the degree was negligible. Emulsion stability of ECs became worse with an increase in hardness and salt concentrations of diluent water. Degradation rates of the active ingredients of pesticide spray solutions 3 days after preparation were less than 5%, regardless of mixing or non-mixing of two or more pesticides. Consequently, the spray solutions of most pesticides were usable until two to three days after preparation unless physical properties deteriorated. The tank-mixing order of EC and WP formulations did not make any differences in all the physical properties of pesticide spray solutions. However, the proper order for the tank-mixing of compatible pesticides was WP, WG, SC, EC, and SL, because the order is easy to prepare the pesticide spray solutions. The efficacy of pesticide spray solutions on the respective target pathogens and insect pests of rice plants three days after preparation was recorded over 95% of that of 0 day, which was almost the same as that of the solutions applied punctually after preparation.

  • The service life of civil infrastructure needs to be maintained or extended through appropriate inspections and maintenance planning, which results from the optimization process. A multi-objective optimization process can lead to more rational and flexible trade-off solutions rather than a single-objective optimization for the service life management of civil infrastructure. Recent investigations on the service life management of civil infrastructure were generally based on minimizing the life-cycle cost analysis and maximizing the structural performance. Various objectives for service life management have been developed using novel probabilistic concepts and methods over the last few decades. On the other hand, an increase in the number of objectives in a multi-objective optimization problem can lead to difficulties in computational efficiency, visualization, and decision making. These difficulties can be overcome using the objective reduction approach to identify the redundant and essential objectives. As a result, the efficiency in computational efforts, visualization, and decision making can be improved. In this paper, the multi-objective optimization using the objective reduction approach was applied to the service life management of concrete bridges. The results showed that four initial objectives can be reduced by two objectives for the optimal service life management.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze current recruiting examination and to categorize and construct test item that assess a variety of Mechanic Metal teachers in technical high school for appointing new Mechanic Metal teacher. The future developmental directions in this study are as follows: First, the examination for appointing secondary school new Mechanic Metal Teacher reflects the curriculum of the teacher education and technical high school, must be nomalize. Second, the rational readjustment of the basic necessary subjects for Machinery Metal recruiting examination is required. Third, the Mechanic Metal recruiting examination must prepare the criteria for the domain ratio of presenting problems and improve with level of presenting the question items which demands a knowledge, application and critical thinking. Fourth, in order to avoid the bias of the some subject tendency with committee making questions of different domain, more participation of a committee making questions is required. Fifth, the practical evaluation must be executed by the effective method to be able to make up for the limit of paper and pencil tests Sixth, as the long-term prospect to secure the professionalism of teacher, the recruiting examination of teachers must be carried out with the Machinery and Metal subject, respectively.

On Promoting the Coastal Transport of Container (컨테이너 연안해송 활성화에 관한 연구 -부산항을 중심으로-)

  • There has been fast progress in economy in Korea derived by a consecutive five-year plan program for economic development started in the early 1960's. In the field of transportation, rapid changes in the technological environment of transportation and communication have brought a revolution of the transport system, of which inter-modal transportation through containerisation is typical. Because of the rapidly growing traffic volumes of cargo, especially container traffic, and lack of investment into transport infrastructure in the past, both road and railway are beyond their capacity. As a result, the public-road network has suffered a serious congestion problem. For instance, in relation to the corridor between Seoul and Pusan, today, it takes about 14 hours for the journey of container trailer through Kyongbu Expressway, for which it used to take only 7 hours in 1986. For the railway, though the congestion problem is not very serious compared with the road sector, a shortage of capacity on certain main lines has emerged as a problem as railway traffic has increased. Furthermore, the further expansion of the system in near future is difficult due to burden of higher construction the cost. Unlike these two modes, coastal shipping, which has been paid relatively less attention for commodity transport in Korea, shows no constraint in this respect. In addition, it is the most cost efficient mode of transport. This work therefore aims to make a proposal for the alternative inland transportation mode, which is to promote the coastal transport of container. Three obstructing factors for the promotion of the coastal transport are investigated and some solutions for those are suggested as follows : First, it appears to be essential to provide exclusive ports for the coastal shipping, that comply with simplification, specialization and rationalization. The optimum size of berths on the exclusive ports in Pusan port is estimated as 16-20. We found that it needs periodical study and publicity on the advantages from the adoption of the coastal mode. Inducing competition in the coastal shipping market is also necessary. For the supply of the fleet in the coastal shipping, chartering of the surplus ships in the oversea shipping is found to be more desirable than new shipbuilding. Second, to solve the fragmentation of the companies which wish to participate in the coastal transport, government has to implement the subsidy policy. The encouragement of participation of the shipping lines engaging in Korea-Japan run and Korea-East South Asia run, into coastal shipping also needs to be considered cautiously. Third, simplification of the document for entry in ports is needed for rational coastal shipping management. We can use B/L (Bill of Lading) for coastal shipping as a prerequisite to get the indemnity by P & I Club. The reduction of the government controls on entering and leaving the ports also needs.

On the Evaluation of Physical Distribution Service in Ports (항만물류서비스의 평가에 관하여)

  • It is required to consider pricing and non-pricing factors and external economy in order to achieve the objects of physical distribution system in a port. Recently, among the three factors, much attention has been paid to non-pricing factor in the system. Although physical distribution service in a port(PDSP)has been frequently mentioned in documents and literature related to port and shipping studies, few study on it has not been systematically and scientifically made due to the following problems; $\circ$ there are not proper criteria to evaluate level and quality of PDSP and as a result it is difficult to set up a unified standard for doing so. $\circ$ algorithms to evaluate problems with complex and ambiguous attributes and multiple levels in PDSP are not available. This thesis aims to establish a paradigm to evaluate PDSP and to abvance existing decision making methods to deal with complex and ambiguous problems in PDSP. To tackle the first purpose, extensive and thorough literature survey was carried out on general physical distribution service, which is a corner stone to handle PDSp. In addition, through interviews and questionnaire to the expert, it have extracted 82 factors of physical distribution service in a port. They have been classified into 6 groups by KJ method and each group defined by the expert's advice as follows; a. Potentiality b. Exactness c. safety d. Speediness e. Convenience f. Linkage Prior to the service evaluation, many kinds of its attributes must be identified on the basis of rational decision owing to complexity and ambiguity inherent in PDSP. An analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is a method to evaluate them but it is not applicable to PDSP that have property of non-additivity and overlapped attributes. Therefore, probablility measure can not be used to evaluate PDSP but fuzzy measure is required. Hierarchical fuzzy integral method, which is merged AHP with fuzzy measure, is also not effective method to evaluate attributes because it has vary complicated way to calculate fuzzy measure identification coefficient of attributes. A new evaluation algorithm has been introduced to solve problems with multi-attribute and multi-level hierarchy, which is called hierarchy fuzzy process(HFP).Analysis on ambiguous aspects of PDSP under study which is not easy to be defined is prerequisite to evaluate it. HFP is different from algorithm existed in that it clarified the relationship between fuzzy measure and probability measure adopted in AHP and that it directly calculates the family of fuzzy measure from overlapping coefficient and probability measure to treat and evaluate ambiguous and complex aspects of PDSP. A new evaluation algorithm HFP was applied to evaluate level of physical distribution service in the biggest twenty container port in the world. The ranks of the ports are as follows; 1.   • Bridges, which constitute one of the key facilities in a social infrastructure, are easily accessed and used by users, so that keeping their performance above a certain level is essential. According to various cases in the U.S., Japan and Europe with a long construction history, it is expected that the maintenance cost of bridges in Korea will increase continuously in the future, so a rational decision making system based on engineering factors is necessary to optimize the performance of and maintain them by allocating the limited budget efficiently. This study is a preliminary basic study for the purpose of developing a common asset management system for managing all of the bridges and maintaining the level of service provided by them. The scope of this preliminary study is limited to bridges in urban areas. The bridge asset management system for bridges in urban areas, their level of service (LOS) and performance measure (PM) were developed by carrying out a workshop consisting of both experts and stakeholders. The analysis on the weights of the value and performance measure for each performance indicator was carried out by using the multi-attribute utility theory and the AHP method. In order to confirm the application of the weight of the performance measure and value of the performance indicator, six bridges in an example city were selected, LOS analysis was applied and its results were reviewed.

  • Recently, Adopting Accounting Information Systems(AIS) has spread rapidly for efficient and rational making decision in the business organization. There are many types of AIS. These are from simple package to integrated packages which are including HR, Product, Sales and Distribute. In case of big enterprises, ERP systems have been implemented and attention is now being directed as to AIS module. AIS module is not easy to change its form, therefore this module need to be considered enough when it comes to the corporations. However there we few standard fer this module as a successful information systems. This study analyze critical factors of certain companies when the companies were implementing AIS and based on this analysis, this study suggest a framework for successful implementation of AIS Using Case Study. 42 AIS adopted companies are surveyed and their factors' correlations are analyzed by mean analysis and factor analysis in this study. As a result of this study, when a company adopt AIS, criteria or particularities for the adoption are more important than environment of the company. Thus, it is significant to empirically prove previous studies' factors relation and importance relations for successful AIS implementation through empirical method in this study.

  • This article aimed to suggest a program for environmental protection and sustainable development in southwest Primorskii Krai of the Russian federation by analysis of Natural conditions, natural resources and current economic activities. Issues relating to protecting unique biodiversity toward economic development are examined. Special attention is given to functional zoning of the Russian part of lower Tumen River drainage. Functional zoning is key to protecting the unique biodiversity found in wet and marshlands of the lower Tumen River. Recommendations for acceptable economic activity are provided. The major components for a Sustainable Development Program in this area are: to define economically effective and ecologically acceptable types of regional activity (aquaculture; deer farming; recreation) and effective forms of territorial organization; to determine the restrictions on regional industrial and economic development; to organize rational regional land use by carrying out functional zoning and by coordinating this activity with all land users, including restructuring existing protected territories into a single system and include it into an international biospheric network.

A Study on Escape Safety Assessment of High-Rise Office Buildings for Security Plans (경호경비계획을 위한 사무용 고층건축물의 피난안전성평가에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, property and life loss is increasing internally and externally, due to fire spread in high-rise buildings which results from a variety of disasters like fire and terror. In this study, therefore, an evacuation simulation was performed to predict escape behaviors of occupants and assess escape safety in high-rise office buildings after setting up each scenario, as part of safety measures for high-rise buildings. Based on the results and data obtained, escape safety was assessed, finally. The results and suggestions of this study are as follows. Firstly, most of the present researches on high-rise building and multiple-use facilities are weighted towards qualitative perspectives. It is, therefore, considered that we have to establish concrete, practical, systematical and rational safety measures to minimize damages in dangerous situations, by analyzing security plans for high-rise buildings in depth and preparing for those situations from various angles. Secondly, setting up evacuation sections in security plans for high-rise buildings is an important factor which influences refuge. Thirdly, in relation to security plans for high-rise buildings, it is possible to reduce the entire time for escape, by setting up escape exits of each floor in consideration of a simultaneous evacuation situation.
