  • Concrete is the most widely used building material, with various types including high- and ultra-high-strength, reinforced, normal, and lightweight concretes. However, accurately predicting concrete properties is challenging due to the geotechnical design code's requirement for specific characteristics. To overcome this issue, researchers have turned to new technologies like machine learning to develop proper methodologies for concrete specification. In this study, we propose a highly accurate deep learning-based predictive model to investigate the compressive strength (UCS) of lightweight concrete with natural aggregates (pumice). Our model was implemented on a database containing 249 experimental records and revealed that water, cement, water-cement ratio, fine-coarse aggregate, aggregate substitution rate, fine aggregate replacement, and superplasticizer are the most influential covariates on UCS. To validate our model, we trained and tested it on random subsets of the database, and its performance was evaluated using a confusion matrix and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) overall accuracy. The proposed model was compared with widely known machine learning methods such as MLP, SVM, and DT classifiers to assess its capability. In addition, the model was tested on 25 laboratory UCS tests to evaluate its predictability. Our findings showed that the proposed model achieved the highest accuracy (accuracy=0.97, precision=0.97) and the lowest error rate with a high learning rate (R2=0.914), as confirmed by ROC (AUC=0.971), which is higher than other classifiers. Therefore, the proposed method demonstrates a high level of performance and capability for UCS predictions.

  • In this study, we investigated the Fukiage sand dunes of southern Kyushu, Japan. We surveyed the status of recovery of coastal Japanese black pine forests damaged by pine wilt disease and their disaster prevention capability. We placed two transects: Transect 1, in an area that was severely damaged (80-90% damage rate) by pine wilt disease, and Transect 2, in an area that was mostly undamaged (<10% damage rate). Then, we installed survey lines, carried out vegetation surveys, and measured the depth and pH of humus soil. The survey lines were placed perpendicular to the coastline from the top of the fore-dune to the inland area, and divided into five 50 m sections. Before the point 100 m inland from the top of the fore-dune, the number of invasive hardwoods and of Japanese black pines were small because of the poor growth environment in both transects. Past the 100 m point, the species and number of Japanese black pines and broad-leaved trees increased further inland because the growth environment improved. In addition, the recovery metrics of tree height, diameter at breast height, age, and number in Transect 1 were much lower than those in Transect 2, and the basal area of broad-leaved trees and the depth of humus soil in Transect 1 were lower than in Transect 2, and the soil pH of humus soil in Transect 1 was higher than that of Transect 2. The shape ratio of the Japanese black pine forests indicated that they were insufficient for disaster prevention. Therefore, in order to fully promote the disaster prevention capability of coastal Japanese black pine forests, we should not only focus on prevention of pine wilt disease but also undertake continuous control efforts taking into consideration the sound growth environment such as appropriate density and soil management and removal of invasive broad-leaved trees.

  • Applying digital network technology for advanced nuclear plant requires deterministic communication for tight safety requirements, timely and reliable data delivery for operation-critical and mission-critical characteristics of nuclear plant. Communication protocols, such as IEEE 802/4 Token Bus, IEEE 802/5 Token Ring, FDDI, and ARCnet, which have deterministic communication capability are partially applied to several nuclear power plants. Although digital communication technologies have many advantages, it is necessary to consider the noise immunity from electromagnetic interference (EMI), electrical interference, impulse noise, and heat noise before selecting specific digital network technology for nuclear plant. In this paper, we consider the token frame loss and data frame loss rate due to the link error event, frame size, and link data rate in different protocols, and evaluate the possibility of failure to meet the hard real-time requirement in nuclear plant.

  • This study was undertaken to develop the feed rate control system for the head feed thresher by making use of the microprocessor and to evaluate the response of the system to a various threshing conditions. It was verified the performance of the control system through experiments. Control conditions were determined based on the simulation results of control system. The control system set at RH=500rpm, RL=480rpm for the bundle feed was considered optimum to give a high threshing capability and still to stabilize the feeding seed regardless of the bundle size. The control system for the continuous spread feed set at the range of LH=15mm, and LL=12mm gave a high control performance for the feeding mass of 1.1Kg/m and lower tested. In addition, the feed rate proportionality constant should be set lower than one in order to keep the rotational speed of threshing cylinder within the range of 500~520rpm.

  • This paper proposes a new EBTC(extended block truncation coding) algorithm extended from the BTC for image compression. The EBTC has a capability to eliminate the defects of BTC, such as the deterioration of resolution or blocky effect, and to make a real-time processing like BTC. It shows better performances than the DPCM and the transform coding. Especially, it is a suitable coding method for the high quality picture transmission. It may be adequate to the system of transmission rate of 30-50 Mbits/sec. The picture quality has been scarecely degraded with a vector quantization to the EBTC output at the bit rate of 1.25 bits/pel. The bit rate of the scalar quantized EBTC method is 2.6-3.7 bits/pel.

  • Most concrete is recently made of an aggregate which is properly absorbed, and carried in it in order to do capability at every fields. We have been close to demand new rapability of high flowing and enduring for specific concretes. That is difficult to cope with claiming the efficiency on deterioration from lack of a high quality aggregate. Therefore, For solving the problems we apply to a packing method for using dried materials. That is to say that it is a kind of making into an instant. In this study. There is a purpose to present fundamental data, comparing and analyzing a phenomenon of aggregate's absorption following the rate of adding water, for using existing materials.

  • In this paper, adaptive channel borrowing approach fuzzy neural networks for load balancing (ACB-FNN) is presented to maximized the number of served calls and the depending on asymmetries traffic load problem. In a wireless network, the call's arrival rate, the call duration and the communication overhead between the base station and the mobile switch center are vague and uncertain. A new load balancing algorithm with cell involved negotiation is also presented in this paper. The ACB-FNN exhibits better learning abilities, optimization abilities, robustness, and fault-tolerant capability thus yielding better performance compared with other algorithms. It aims to efficiently satisfy their diverse quality-of-service (QoS) requirements. The results show that our algorithm has lower blocking rate, lower dropping rate, less update overhead, and shorter channel acquisition delay than previous methods.

  • This Paper presents the 3D wavelet transformation based video compression system, which possesses the capability of progressive transmission by increasing resolution and increasing rate for multimedia applications. The 3D wavelet packet based video compression system removes the temporal correlation of the input sequences using the motion compensation filter and decomposes the spatio-temporal subband using the spatial wavelet packet transformation. The proposed system allocates the higher bit rate to the low frequency image of the 3D wavelet sequences and improves the 0.49dB PSNR performance of the reconstructed image in comparison with that of H.263. In addition to the limitation on the propagation of the motion compensation error by the 3D wavelet transformation, the proposed system progressively transmits the input sequence according to the resolution and rate scalability.

  • RELAP5/Mod3.1 code was assessed with the semiscale experiment S-NC-3, and S-NC-4, which simulated the two-phase natural circulation and reflux condensation for the SBLOCA of PWR, respectively . Test S-NC-3 and S-NC-4 calculation results showed that RELAP5/Mod3.1 quite well describes the influence of steam generator secondary side heat transfer degradation on both two-phase natural circulation and reflux condensation. A comparison between the calculated and measured two-phase mass flow rate in test S-NC-3 shows good agreement for primary mass inventory more than 92%. And RELAP5/Mod3.1 have a good mass flow rate prediction capability for the transient such as S-NC-4 except some flow oscillations. The reflux flow rate for S-NC-4 test is under predicted, and the overall results verify that the correct prediction of the reduced liquid level appears to be required for the correct calculation of the overall phenomena.

  • OLEDs are attractive because of possible application in display with low operating voltage, low power consumption, self-emission and capability of multicolor emission by the selection of emissive material. We investigated the effects of deposition rate on the electrical characteristics, physical characteristics and optical characteristics of OLEDs in the ITO(indium-tin-oxide)/N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methyphenyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine(TPD)/tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum($Alq_3$)/Al device. We measured current density, luminous flux and luminance characteristics of devices with varying deposition rates of TPD and $Alq_3$. It has been found that optimal deposition rate of TPD and $Alq_3$ were respectively $1.5{\AA}/s$ from the device structure. An AFM measurement results, surface roughness of the deposited film was the lowest when deposition rate was $1.5{\AA}/s$.
