Pool Combustion of Iso-Propanol Fuel including IPA and PCBs in different Type Vessels

  • On the refutation demanded for a control of various toxic substances. PCBs(poly chlorinated biphenyl) has a fatal poisonous matter in the ecosystem and the environmental pollution as it Is a kind of stable chemical substance. Especially, the gross Product of PCBs is estimated at about one million tonnage all over the world. However it is kept on storing in untreated state, then has a deterioration by the Prolonged storage and a risk of overflowing. Therefore, this research examined the fundamental characteristics of combustion and emission for the target of using the IPA (iso-propyl alcohol) solution as a part of PCBs control. IPA was filled to three kinds of Vessel, i.e. Vessel I, II, and III, and then was investigated as follows combustion shape, flame temperature. mass burning velocity, and PM(Particulate matter). A radial thermometer and a C-A thermocouple measured the flame temperature, and the optical extinction method by using He-Ne laser and the filter weight method used in the PM measurement. As a result, with an increasing of L/S ratio, the flame length become shorter and the burning velocity is more rapid, but the particulate matters is higher. It is supposed that the air flow rate is high on Vessel. and then the combustion is Promoted in the surface area of the upstream zone. The future works plan to investigate the characteristics with an using of the mixing of IPA and PCBs

분류층 석탄반응로에서 유동분포가 연소성능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Flow Distribution on the Combustion Efficiency In an Entrained-Bed Coal Reactor)

  • A numerical study was carried out to analyze the effect of flow distribution of stirred part and plug flow part on combustion efficiency at the coal gasification process in an entrained bed coal reactor. The model of computation was based on gas phase eulerian balance equations of mass and momentum. The solid phase was described by lagrangian equations of motion. The $k-{\varepsilon}$ model was used to calculate the turbulence flow and eddy dissipation model was used to describe the gas phase reaction rate. The radiation was solved using a Monte-Carlo method. One-step parallel two reaction model was employed for the devolatilization process of a high volatile bituminous Kideco coal. The computations agreed well with the experiments, but the flame front was closer to the burner than the measured one. The flow distribution of a stirred part and a plug flow part in a reactor was a function of the magnitude of recirculation zone resulted from the swirl. The combustion efficiency was enhanced with decreasing stirred part and the maximum value was found around S=1.2, having the minimum stirred part. The combustion efficiency resulted from not only the flow distribution but also the particle residence time through the hot reaction zone of the stirred part, in particular for the weak swirl without IRZ(internal recirculation zone) and the long lifted flame.

SCV를 장착한 2밸브 Sl 가시화기관의 연소특성에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Combustion Characteristics Using a 2-valve Sl Optically Acessible Engine with SCV)

  • This study describes the combustion characteristics under various condition of air excess ratio and ignition timing in a 2-valve SI optically accessible engine with swirl control valve(SCV). It adapted three different types of SCV(open ratio 72.5%, 78%, 59%) to strengthen a swirl flow. Pressure data were acquired using pressure sensor to investigate the effect of swirl flow on combustion, and from these pressure data, IMEP(indicated mean effective pressure) and MFB(mass fraction burnt) were calculated to explain burn rate and flame speed. From acquired flame images, we inspected the flame propagation direction, flame area, and flame centroid. Flame propagation direction showed different tendency between with/without SCV, and flame area with SCV was faster and larger than that of conventional engine. Finally, the representative flame images at each crank angle were acquired by PDF method to verify flame growth process. It is found that strengthened swirl flow is more beneficial for faster and stable combustion.

Whirl Fire와 Pool fire의 화염 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flame Behavior of Whirl Eire and Pool Fire)

  • 4-panel of 1m height and 45cm width were fixed on the $40cm{\times}40cm$ bottom plate and the opening of the panel comer was 5cm. Diameter of stainless vessel is loom and its height is 2cm and it located at the center of the bottom plate. 78mL liquid fuel was filled in the vessel and its depth was 1cm. Flame temperature was measured with K type thermocouple, and radiation heat of flame was measured with heat flux meter. Flame height and its behavior was visualized with video camera. and mass burning rate was measured by fuel combustion time. According to the development of fire, flame swirling was begin. From the experiment the mass burning rate was larger and the height of flame was higher than the usual pool fire flame. Flame temperature and heat flux also increased far more than the pool fire. Consequently the swirling air flow through the openings between the panel and thermal buoyance contribute to increase of heat release rate, flame length and mass burning rate.

  • Reduction reactivity and carbon deposition characteristics of mass produced oxygen carrier particle(OCN-650) have been investigated by using hydrogen, methane, syngas, and natural gas as fuels. For all fuels, the maximum conversion and oxygen transfer capacity increased as the temperature increase. The reduction rate and the oxygen transfer rate increased as the temperature increase for methane. However, those values showed maximum at 900$^{\circ}C$ for hydrogen, syngas, and natural gas. To explain consistently the change of maximum conversion, reduction rate, oxygen transfer capacity, oxygen transfer rate and degree of carbon deposition for different fuels, new parameters such as reactive carbon contents and require oxygen per input gas were adopted.

  • 내연기관의 연소현상을 연구하는 연구자들에게 엔진 내부의 압력값은 연소과정을 이해 할 수 있는 좋은 데이터가 된다. 본 논문에서는 압력값을 이용하여 스파크 점화기관의 무부하에서의 사이클 연소 변동의 중요한 원인이 무엇인가를 규명한다. 또한 실험기관의 연소실에서 채취한 압력 데이터는 사이클 변동의 연소 해석의 기초 데이터와 연소율 해석 등의 데이터분석을 하는데 사용되었다. 연소변수의 입력변수로써 연료, 공기, 잔류량, 등등이 사이클 변동을 결정하는데 사용되었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 선회유동과 재순환영역이 있는 제한된 동축 분류유동(confined coaxial jet flow)을 갖는 연소기에 대하여 노즐을 통하여 분사된 연료액적의 증발 및 연소, 그리고 주위기체유동에 관한 제반현상을 정상상태 하에서 모사하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있으며 수치계산에 의한 이론적 해석방법으로 기상은 오일러 방식, 액상은 라 그란지 방식을 채택하였고 후술될 증발 및 연소모델을 적용하였다.

  • 75톤급 액체로켓엔진 연소기의 1/2.5-scale 연소기의 시험 결과를 기술하였다. 연소기의 연소압력은 60 bar, 추진제 유량은 약 89 kg/s 그리고 노즐 팽창비는 12이다. 연소성능 및 재생냉각 성능, 연소기의 내구성 확인을 위한 수회의 설계점 연소시험과 저압조건에서의 작동성 및 연소성능을 검증하기 위한 시험이 수행되었다. 모든 연소시험은 하드웨어의 손상 없이 성공적으로 수행되었다. 본 시험결과는 향후 75톤급 연소기의 저압 연소 조건에서의 시험 가능성을 제시하고, 설계점 조건에서의 연소성능을 예측하는 기본 데이터로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 액체로켓엔진 재생냉각 연소기에서 산화제 선공급 cyclogram시의 점화 특성에 대해 기술하였다. 연소기의 연소압력은 60 bar, 추진제 유량은 약 89 kg/s 그리고 노즐 팽창비는 12이다. 산화제 선공급 cyclogram을 위해 수행한 연소기로의 연료 및 산화제 수류시험, 산화제 선공급에 따른 점화기 작동성 확인을 위한 점화시험, 연소기의 주 점화 및 연소 확인을 위한 저압 연소시험 그리고 설계점에서 연소기 작동성/연소 안정성 및 연소성능/재생냉각 성능 확인을 위한 연소시험 등에 대해 기술하였다. 산화제 선공급 점화 및 연소시험은 성공적으로 이루어졌으며 연소기에 대한 안정적인 점화 cyclogram을 개발하였다.

  • 추진제 유량 변화와 분사기 배열에 따른 특성속도를 연구하기 위해 축소형 연소기를 이용하여 연소시험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 유사한 압력과 혼합비 조건에서 효과적인 비 단위 면적당 유량 범위가 존재함을 알 수 있었고 최외곽 분사기로부터 막 냉각이 적용된 연소실 벽면까지의 거리 증가는 연소실 내 저 혼합비 영역을 증가시키고 특성속도를 저감시키는 기능을 하는 것으로 해석결과 나타났다. 즉, 이 2가지 설계요소는 주어진 연소압력에서 액체로켓엔진 연소기의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 중요한 인자임을 확인하였다.
