  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the autonomic nervous system activity in various ambient temperatures. To evaluate autonomic function, we use the frequency domain analysis of heart rate variability such as FFT(fast fourier transformation), AR(Auto-Regressive) model and Lomb-Scargle peridogram. HRV(heart rate variability) is calculated by using ECG recorded from 3 different temperature room which temperature is controlled in 18℃(low), 25℃(mid) and 38℃(high), respectively. Totally 22 subjects were participated in the experiment. In the results, the most significant autonomic changes caused by temperature load were found in the HF(high frequency) component of FFT and AR model. And the HF power is decreased by increasing temperature. Significance level was increased by increasing the difference of temperatures.

  • The error rate pquations of digital radio signals transmitted throught the Nakagami's m-distribution fading channel have been both for nondiversity reception and for diversity reception cases in the environmment of Gaussin noise. Using the derived equation. erro rate performance has been evaluated and represented in figures as a function of carrier to noise ratio, fading figure, and the power correlation coefficient between two diversity branches. By comparing the diversity reception case with nondiversity reception case. We could measure the amount of error rate performance improvenment of digital radiosignals in fanding enviroment.

  • Bethanidine, which is known as a sympathetic blocking agent, was injected into the vein of a dog in an attempt to investigate the influence on renal funciton. Bethanidine resulted in an increased urine flow and glomerular filtration rate, and it produced an increase of urinary sodium and potassium excretion and a decrease of reabsorption rate of sodium and potassium in renal tubules, whereas renal plasma flow showed no significant changes. After pretreatment of phentolamine, a specific alpha adrenergic blocking agent, bethanidine did not significantly increase glomerular filtration rate and diuresis, significantly increased urinary sodium and potassium excretion although the magnitudes were reduced when compared with that of bethanidine alone. In conclusion, bethanidine-induced diuresis appears to be the result of an inhibited tubuler reabsorpting of electrolytes within the kidney through its sympathetic blockade of renal nerves and of an increased glomerular filtration rate, which was caused by the constriction of vas efferense in the glomeruli.

  • In this paper, we consider a scenario in which the source has been offered QoS guarantees subject to token-bucket regulation. The rate of the source should be controlled such that it conforms to the token-bucket regulation, and also the distortion obtained is the minimum. We have developed an optimal scheduling algorithm for offline (like pre-recorded video) sources with convex distortion function and which can not tolerate any delay. This optimal offline algorithm has been extended for the real-time online source by predicting the number of packets that the source may send in future. The performance of the online scheduler is not substantially degraded as compared to that of the optimal offline scheduler. A sub-optimal offline algorithm has also been developed to reduce the computational complexity and it is shown to perform very well. We later consider the case where the source can tolerate a fixed amount of delay and derive optimal offline algorithm for such traffic source.

  • In this paper, we study a single-machine scheduling problem with deteriorating processing time of jobs and multiple rate-modifying activities which reset deteriorated processing time to the original processing time. In this situation, the objective function is to minimize total completion time. First, we formulate an integer programming model. Since the model is difficult to solve as the size of real problem being very large, we design an improved genetic algorithm called adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) with spontaneously adjusting crossover and mutation rate depending upon the status of current population. Finally, we conduct some computational experiments to evaluate the performance of AGA with the conventional GAs with various combinations of crossover and mutation rates.

  • Tetracycline lyogel ointment consisting of hydroxy ethyl cellulose(HEC) in glycerin and Eudragit RS 100 in triacetin were prepared and then release characteristic were investigated. The physical properties of lyogel ointment such as viscosity, particle size and microscopic structures were also evaluated. The microscopic structures showed that lyogel particles containing drug were dispersed in the triactin solution. The release rate of drug from lyogel ointment as a function of HEC was not changed. However the release rate was significantly decresed when the amount of Eudragit RS 100 and triacetin in lyogel ointment was increased. The viscosity and weight fraction in external phase of lyogel ointment influenced the release rate. The current studies suggest that the release rate of drug can be controlled by changing of lyogel ointment compositions.

  • Glow discharge has lots of attractive properties, such as lower discharge sustaining voltage, no generation of ozone, and so on. And more, ionizer was developed recently using an atmospheric pressure glow discharge. On the other hand, ionizer needs a compressed or blown air to transport ion for charged objects. This air is very useful in explosive hazardous area to prevent the explosion of flammable gas and/or vapor by ignition sources, e.g. electrical spark. In this paper, we investigated the ionizing characteristic of atmospheric pressure glow discharge by controlled air flow rate from 5 liters to 60 liters a minute, and compared with decay time between the corona discharge and glow discharge as a function of some direction and distance from discharge ion source. We confirmed that an air flow rate needs 25 liters a minute to sustain the most suitable atmospheric pressure glow discharge and to increase an ionizing efficiency.

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT system ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3-Bi_2O_3$-CuO as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated as a function of heating rate. At sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$, with increasing heating rate, electromechanical coupling factor(kp), mechanical quality factor(Qm) and dielectric constant $({\varepsilon}_r)$ were increased.

  • The downlink rate scheduling problem is considered for CDMA networks with multiple users carrying packets of heterogeneous traffic (voice/audio only, bursty data only or mixed traffic), with each type having its own distinct quality of service requirements. Several rate scheduling algorithms are developed, the common factor of which is that part of the decision on which users to serve is based on a function of the deadline of their head-ofline packets. An approach of Andrews et al., in which the basic Earliest-Deadline-First algorithm is studied for similar systems, is extended to result in better performance by considering a more efficient power usage and by allowing service of more than one user per timeslot if the power resources permit it. Finally, the performance of the proposed schemes is compared through simulations.

  • The extensive growth in data rate demand by the smart gadgets and mobile broadband application services in wireless cellular networks. To achieve higher data rate demand which leads to aggressive frequency reuse to improve network capacity at the price of Inter Cell Interference (ICI). Fractional Frequency Reuse (FFR) has been recognized as an effective scheme to get a higher data rate and mitigate ICI for perfect geometry network scenarios. In, an irregular geometric multicellular network, ICI mitigation is a challenging issue. The purpose of this paper is to develop distributed dynamic power allocation scheme for FFR based on game theory to mitigate ICI. In the proposed scheme, each cell region in an irregular multicellular scenario adopts a self-less behavior instead of selfish behavior to improve the overall utility function. This proposed scheme improves the overall data rate and mitigates ICI.
