This paper improves existing 'fly-the-wire' based autonomous station-keeping system, suitable for geostationary satellite and introduces results of computer simulations conducted to verify the algorithm. The on-board stationkeeping system receives pseudo-range signals from two ground equipments located with long baseline, determines the orbit error in realtime and generates orbit control commands. To reduce fuel consumption, this paper proposes an on-board orbit control logic using modified fly-the-wire method. The modified fly-the-wire method de-couples error components into two dynamic modes, harmonic and linear motion. The harmonic error components are removed by applying output commands produced by feedback controller, and the linear motions are controlled by the correction ${\Delta}V\;s$ added to reference maneuvers. The reference maneuvers are generated through the ground based computer simulation and embedded or uploaded into the on-board computer with time tags. Finally, the performance of the proposed algorithm is verified through a series of computer simulations.

Mode transition of the axi-symmetric screech tone in the low supersonic Mach number range from 1.0 to 1.20 is numerically analyzed. The axi-symmetric Navier-Stokes equations and the k-e turbulence model are solved in the cylindrical coordinate system. The dispersion-relation-preserving(DRP) scheme is applied for space discretization and the optimized four levels marching method are used for time integration. At low supersonic Mach numbers with an axi-symmetric A1 mode in the simulation, it is shown that acoustic propagation due to the nonlinear effects is seen in the lateral direction and the screech tone frequency is the same as the vortex passing frequency due to the generation of intense large-scale vortical motions.

An axisymmetric supersonic jet screech in the Mach number range from 1.07 to 1.2 is numerically simulated. The axisymmetric mode is the dominant screech mode for an axisymmetric jet. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations in the conjunction with modified Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model are employed. A high resolution finite volume essentially non-oscillatory(ENO) schemes are used along with nonreflecting characteristic boundary conditions that are crucial to screech tone computations to accurately capture the sound waves, shock-cell structures, unsteady shock motions and large-scale instability waves.

In this paper, a decoupled dual servo (DDS) stage for ultra-precision scanning system with large working range is introduced. In general, dual servo systems consist of a fine stage for short range and a coarse stage for long range. The proposed DDS also consists of a $XY\theta$ fine stage for handling and carrying workpieces and one axis coarse stage. Its coarse stage consists of air bearing guide system and a coreless linear motor with force ripple. The fine has four voice coil motors(VCM) as its actuator. According to a VCM's nature, there are no mechanical connections between coils and magnetic circuits. Moreover, VCM doesn't have force ripples due to imperfections of commutation components of linear motor systems - currents and flux densities. However, due to the VCM's mechanical constraints the working range of the fine is about $25mm^2$. To break that hurdle, the coarse stage with linear motors is used to move the fine about 500mm. Because of the above reasons, the proposed DDS can achieve higher precision scanning than other stages with only one servo. With MATLAB's Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP), the VCMs are optimally designed for the highest force under conditions and constraints such as thermal dissipations due to its coil, its size, and so on. And for their movements without any frictions, guide systems of the DDS are composed of air bearings. To get precisely their positions, a linear scale with 5nm resolution are used for the coarse stage's motion and three plane mirror laser interferometers with 5nm for the fine's $XY\theta$ motions. With them, on scanning the two stages have same trajectories. The control algorithm is named Parallel method. The embodied ultra-precision scanning system has sub 100nm following error and in-positioning stability.
Putting score counts about 43 % of the golf score. The dominant idea of the putting motion to amateur golfers as well as to many professional golfers is a pendulum-like motion. If a golfer's putting stroke motion is a pendulum-like motion, the putting motion should be straight-back-and-through, the same backswing, downswing, and follow through length and period, and a swing with a fixed hinge joint. If the putting motions of the human are different from the pendulum motion, there could be confusion in understanding and teaching golf putting. The purpose of this study was to examine the center of rotation(COR) of the putter head to reveal whether professional golfers really putt like a pendulum. Thirteen male professional golfers were recruited for the study. Each golfers executed 10.94 m putts six times on an artificial grass mat. Putter head position data were collected through a 60 Hz three-dimensional motion analysis system and low pass filtered with cut-off frequency of 6 Hz. COR of the putter head was mathematically acquired. Each golfer's last five putting motions were considered. The results show that the COR of the putter head was neither fixed nor located inside of the golfer. The medio-lateral directional component of the COR of the putter head fluctuated in the range of 10 cm during downswing and follow through. The anterior-posterior directional component of the COR of the putter head was fixed from the beginning of the downswing through impact. Just after impact, however, it moved to the target up to 60 cm. The superior-inferior directional component of COR of the putter head moved in a superior direction with the beginning of the downswing and showed peak height just prior to impact. During the follow through, it moved back in an inferior direction. The height-normalized peak value of the COR of the putter head was $1.4{\pm}0.3$ height. Technically speaking, male professional golfers' 10.94 m putting motion is not a pendulum-like motion. The dominating idea of a pendulum-like motion in putting might come from the image of the flawless, smooth motion of a pendulum.
Today, many important concrete face rockfill dams (CFRDs) have been built on the world, and some of these important structures are located on the strong seismic regions. In this reason, examination and monitoring of these water construction's seismic behaviour is very important for the safety and future of these dams. In this study, the nonlinear seismic behaviour of Ilısu CFR dam which was built in Turkey in 2017, is investigated for various reservoir water heights taking into account 1995 Kobe near-fault and far-fault ground motions. Three dimensional (3D) finite difference model of the dam is created using the FLAC3D software that is based on the finite difference method. The most suitable mesh range for the 3D model is chosen to achieve the realistic numerical results. Mohr-Coulomb nonlinear material model is used for the rockfill materials and foundation in the seismic analyses. Moreover, Drucker-Prager nonlinear material model is considered for the concrete slab to represent the nonlinearity of the concrete. The dam body, foundation and concrete slab constantly interact during the lifetime of the CFRDs. Therefore, the special interface elements are defined between the dam body-concrete slab and dam body-foundation due to represent the interaction condition in the 3D model. Free field boundary condition that was used rarely for the nonlinear seismic analyses, is considered for the lateral boundaries of the model. In addition, quiet artificial boundary condition that is special boundary condition for the rigid foundation in the earthquake analyses, is used for the bottom of the foundation. The hysteric damping coefficients are separately calculated for all of the materials. These special damping values is defined to the FLAC3D software using the special fish functions to capture the effects of the variation of the modulus and damping ratio with the dynamic shear-strain magnitude. Total 4 different reservoir water heights are taken into account in the seismic analyses. These water heights are empty reservoir, 50 m, 100 m and 130 m (full reservoir), respectively. In the nonlinear seismic analyses, near-fault and far-fault ground motions of 1995 Kobe earthquake are used. According to the numerical analyses, horizontal displacements, vertical displacements and principal stresses for 4 various reservoir water heights are evaluated in detail. Moreover, these results are compared for the near-fault and far-faults earthquakes. The nonlinear seismic analysis results indicate that as the reservoir height increases, the nonlinear seismic behaviour of the dam clearly changes. Each water height has different seismic effects on the earthquake behaviour of Ilısu CFR dam. In addition, it is obviously seen that near-fault earthquakes and far field earthquakes create different nonlinear seismic damages on the nonlinear earthquake behaviour of the dam.
Objective: The objective of this research is to quantitatively analyze muscle activities of arm and shoulder, according to direction in various types of one-handed manual material handling, based on surface electromyography. Background: Workers in industrial sites frequently carry out one-handed manual material handling using arm and shoulder muscles. Therefore, chronic load and accumulated fatigue occur to arm and shoulder muscles, which becomes a main cause of upper arm and shoulder musculoskeletal disorders. The shoulder muscles have widely range of motion, and complex interactions take place among various muscles including rotator cuff muscles. In this regard, research on interactions among should muscles, according to such various dynamic motions, is required. Method: Ten male subjects in their 20s participated in this research. This research considered upward, downward, leftward, rightward, forward and backward directions and fourteen muscles around arm and shoulder (biceps brachii and trapezius, etc.) as independent variables. The mean muscle activity was set as the dependent variable. This research extracted $4^{th}{\sim}7^{th}$ repetition signals according to ten times of repetitive muscle contraction, and analyzed the muscle activity concerned using the envelope detection technique. Results: The mean muscle activity of upward direction was analyzed highly statistically significant. The reason is that the effect of gravity works to arm and shoulder muscles. Also, it is conjectured that deformation of coracoacromial ligament was caused, and its contact pressure increased, due mainly to the shoulder flexion, and therefore load was analyzed high. Muscle activity was analyzed significantly low, according to concentric ballistic motion used in the concentric contraction phase by storing elastic energy in the eccentric contraction phase with a motion to bring the weight to the front of subject's body as to downward, leftward and backward directions. Because, elbow joint's flexion-extension motions mainly occurred, biceps brachii was analyzed high muscle activity as the prime mover. Conclusion: The information on the quantitative load of muscles can be applied to ergonomic work design for one-handed manual material handling to minimize muscle load. Application: This research has effectively identified muscle activity according to dynamic contraction by applying an envelope detection technique. The results can be used for ergonomic work design to minimize muscle load during the one-handed manual material handling, according to each direction. The research results are expected to be used for musculoskeletal disorder prevention and physiotherapy in the rehabilitation medical field, based on the muscle load of arm and shoulder in various directions.

Marine accidents involving fishing boats, caused by a loss of stability, have been increasing over the last decade. One of the main reasons for these accidents is a sudden wind attacks. In this regard, the wind loads acting on the ship hull need to be estimated accurately for safety assessments of the motion and maneuverability of the ship. Therefore, this study aims to develop a computational model for the inlet boundary condition and to numerically estimate the wind load acting on a fishing boat. In particular, wind loads acting on a fishing boat at the wind speed profile boundary condition were compared with the numerical results obtained under uniform wind speed. The wind loads were estimated at intervals of 15° over the range of 0° to 180°, and i.e., a total of 13 cases. Furthermore, a numerical mesh model was developed based on the results of the mesh dependency test. The numerical analysis was performed using the RANS-based commercial solver STAR-CCM+ (ver. 13.06) with the k-ω turbulent model in the steady state. The wind loads for surge, sway, and heave motions were reduced by 39.5 %, 41.6 %, and 46.1 % and roll, pitch, and yaw motions were 48.2 %, 50.6 %, and 36.5 %, respectively, as compared with the values under uniform wind speed. It was confirmed that the developed inlet boundary condition describing the wind speed gradient with respect to height features higher accuracy than the boundary condition of uniform wind speed. The insights obtained in this study can be useful for the development of a numerical computation method for ships.
The characteristics of vertical to horizontal ratio of response spectrum from 20 recent earthquakes were analysed. Response spectrum of 260 horizontal and 130 vertical ground motions were normalized by peak ground acceleration at each resonance frequency from 0.1 to 50Hz. It has been identified that the ratio of vertical to horizontal response spectrum has strong dependancy on epicentral distance and resonance frequency. The ratio of vertical to horizontal response spectrum for the 0-50km epicentral distance group are larger than 2/3 values, which is a standard engineering rule-of-thumb V/H=2/3, at resonance frequency above 7-8Hz. All the 3 groups such as 50-100, 100-150- and 150-200km epicentral distance have shown larger values of vertical to horizontal ratio than 2/3 at resonance frequency above 15Hz and also are larger than 2/3 at resonance frequency below 8-10Hz. Even though there are differences in specific resonance frequency values which depend on the epicentral distance group, we should be careful of seismic design of vertical component of the structures winch are located within the range of about 200km distance. form the potentially seismic causative faults.
Fault rupture directivity of the Odaesan earthquake, which was inferred to be the main cause of the high PGAvalue (> 0.1 g) unusually observed at the near-source region, was analyzed by using the data from the nearby (R < 100 km) dense seismic stations. The Boatwright's method (2007) was adopted for this purpose in which the azimuth and takeoff angle of the unilateral rupture directivity function could be estimated based on the relative peak ground-motions of seismic stations resulting from the nature of the rupture directivity. In this study, the approximate values of the relative peak ground-motions was derived from the difference between the log residuals of the point-source spectral model (Boore, 2003) for the main and secondary events based on the Random Vibration Theory. In this derivation, the spectral difference for a frequency range between the source corner frequencies of main and secondary events was considered to reflect only the effect of the fault directivity. The inversion result of the model parameters for the fault directivity function showed that the fault-plane of NWW-SEE direction dipping steeply to the North with high rupture velocity near upward in SE direction is responsible for the observed high level of ground-motion at the near-source region.
