The basin characteristics reflect the attributes of geomorphological pattern of basin and stream networks affect the rainfall-runoff. In order to analyze the relationship between the basin runoff and stream morphometric characteristics, the morphometric characteristics were investigated for 27 water-level observation stations on 19 rivers in the Han River basin using Arc-map. The morphometric characteristics were divided into linear, areal and relief aspects for calculation while the annual mean runoff ratio as a basin response by rainfall was estimated using the measured precipitation and discharge to analyze the rainfall-runoff characteristics. The correlation among the morphometric parameters were schematized to analyze the correlations among them. The multiple regression equation for rainfall-runoff ratio was provided with morphometric parameters of stream length ratio, form factor ratio, shape factor, stream area ratio, and relief ratio and the coefficient of determination was 0.691. The RMSE and MAPE between the measured and the estimated annual runoff rates were found as 0.09, 11.61% respectively, the suggested regression equation showed good estimation.
In Jeju island, runoff has frequently happened when the rainfall depth is over a threshold value. To simulated this characteristic rainfall-runoff model structure has to be modified. In this study, the TRSM (Threshold Runoff Simulation Method) was developed to overcome the limitations of SWAT in applying to the hydrologic characteristics of Jeju island. When the precipitation and soil water are less than threshold value, we revised the SWAT routine not to make surface/lateral or groundwater discharge. For Hancheon watershed, the threshold value was set as 80% of soil water through the analysis of rainfall-runoff relationship. Through the simulation of test watershed, it was proven that TRSM performed much better in simulating pulse type stream flow for the Hancheon watershed.
Changes in climate have largely increased concentrated heavy rainfall, which in turn is causing enormous damages to humans and properties. Floods are one of the most deadly and damaging natural disasters known to mankind. The flood forecasting and warning system concentrates on reducing injuries, deaths, and property damage caused by floods. Therefore, the exact relationship and the spatial variability analysis of hydrometeorological elements and characteristic factors is critical elements to reduce the uncertainty in rainfall-runoff model. In this study, grid resolution depending on the topographic factor in rainfall-runoff models presents how to respond. semi-distribution of rainfall-runoff model using the model GRM simulated and calibrated rainfall-runoff in the Gamcheon and Naeseongcheon watershed. To run the GRM model, input grid data used rainfall (two event), DEM, landuse and soil. This study selected cell size of 500 m(basic), 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, 10 km and 12 km. According to the resolution of each grid, in order to compare simulation results, the runoff hydrograph has been made and the runoff has also been simulated. As a result, runoff volume and peak discharge which simulated cell size of DEM 500 m~12 km were continuously reduced. that results showed decrease tendency. However, input grid data except for DEM have not contributed increase or decrease runoff tendency. These results showed that the more increased cell size of DEM make the more decreased slope value because of the increased horizontal distance.
The main objective of this study is to simulate the rainfall-runoff relationship of the Ohwon rivet basin. For the this study, we used GIS technique and HMS(Hydrological Modeling System). In this study, watershed itself and geometric factors of watershed are extracted from DEM by using a GIS technique. The scanned data of topographical map with scale of 1:50,000 in the Ohwon river basin is used to this study and it is converted to DEM data. The parameters of Hydrological Modeling System as watershed area(A), river length, SCS Curve Number(CN) etc. are extracted by using the GIS technique in the Ohwon Basin. Extracted parameters are applied to the Hydrological Model System, then the paramenters optimized by the observed data and rainfall data. Then, the optimized parameters and Hydrological Modeling System are applied to the study area for the simulation of rainfall-runoff relationship. With the resultn of this study, GIS technique is useful to the extraction of watershed characteristics factors and Hydrological Modeling System is successful to the simulation of rainfall-runoff relationship.
This study was intended to investigate the rainfall-runoff relationship with spatially distributed rainfall data, and then, to analyze and quantify the uncertainty induced by spatially averaging rainfall data. For constructing spatially distributed rainfall data, several historical rainfall events were extended spatially by simple kriging method based on the semivariogram as a function of the relative distance. Runoff was computed by two models; one was the modified Clark model with spatially distributed rainfall data and the other was the conventional Clark model with spatially averaged rainfall data. Rainfall errors and discharge errors occurred through this process were defined and analyzed with respect to various rain-gage network densities. The following conclusions were derived as the results of this work; 1) The conventional Clark parameters could be appropriate for translating spatially distributed rainfall data. 2) The parameters estimated by the modified Clark model are more stable than those of the conventional Clark model. 3) Rainfall and discharge errors are shown to be reduced exponentially as the density of rain-gage network is increased. 4) It was found that discharge errors were affected largely by rainfall errors as the rain-gage network density was small.
Non-point pollution adversely affects the water system and its influence is increasing. In order to manage such nonpoint source pollution, the government has conducted studies on LID (Low Impact Development) facilities and various efficiency evaluations. In this study, the actual installed permeable block facility among the various LID facilities was analyzed the effluent reduction rate, the residual rainfall analysis, the runoff duration time and the reduction rate of the maximum inflow and outflow for the rainfall runoff control and the results were compared the other facilities. The analysis results show that the reduction efficiency is high in order of impermeable block, filter type permeable block, and clearance type permeable block, and the graph showing the relationship between the rainfall intensity and the runoff duration time is presented. This graph can be helpful in the design of facilities such as the facility capacity selection according to the reproduction period of the permeable block facility similar to this.

Interrill erosion by the rainfall is divided into a detachment of soil particles by raindrop splash when raindrops having kinetic energy strike on the surface soil and a sediment transport by sheet flow of surface runoff. Rainfall kinetic energy is widely used as an indicator expressing the potential ability to separate the soil particles from soil mass. In this study, the soil erosion experiments of rainfall simulation were operated to evaluate the effects of rainfall kinetic energy on interrill erosion as using the strip cover to control raindrop impact. The kinetic energy from rainfall simulator was 0.58 times to that of natural rainfall. Surface runoff and subsurface runoff increased and decreased respectively with increase of rainfall intensity. Surface runoff discharge from plots of non-cover was 1.82 times more than that from plots with cover. The rainfall kinetic energy influenced on the starting time of surface and subsurface runoff. Soil erosion quantity greatly varied according to existence of the surface cover that can intercept rainfall energy. Sediment yields by the interaction between raindrop splash and sheet flow increased 3.6~5.9 times and the increase rates of those decreased with rainfall intensity. As a results from analysis of relationship between stream power and sediment yields, rainfall kinetic energy increased the transport capacity according to increase of surface runoff as well as the detachment of soil particles by raindrop splash.

The objective of this study is to suggest a method for estimating rainfall-runoff relationship using runoff analysis with satellite rainfall and global geographic data for the region due to lack of observed data. This study uses CMORPH and GSMaP_NRT as satellite rainfall data, and GTOPO30 and GLCC as global geographic data. IFAS is used for runoff modeling. In the evaluation of rainfall data, the correlation coefficients of CMORPH and GSMaP_NRT with observed data are 0.37 and 0.30 respectively. Calculated peak runoffs using IFAS show small relative errors with observed data in case of parameters are not calibrated with satellite rainfall data. Therefore, the methods suggested in this study could be applied to ungauged watershed. In the future, this study will analyze runoff for North Korea, a representative inaccessible region, using satellite rainfall and global geographic data.

The Soil Conservation Service (SCS) developed a unique procedure for estimating direct runoff from storm rainfall. But, It is very difficult to estimate accurately flood hydrograph by SCS method, because the initial ion of Ia(0.2Sa) itself has lots of systematic errors and there is no investigation on Ia in the Korean watershed. The maximum storage capacity of Umax is calibrated in the DAWAST model and is related to the present ability of rainfall to be infiltrated into the unsaturated soil. Effective rainfall for design and real-time flood hydrograph can be estimate more reasonably by introducing new Ia relationship made from the rainfall-runoff data observed in the Korean watersheds.
Seven heavy metal concentrations (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn) were continuously analyzed for twenty rainfall events in 2017~2018 in an urban basin. The overall and dynamic correlations between runoff characteristics and heavy metal concentrations were examined. The peak metal concentration generally appeared in the initial runoff but found to be delayed when the rainfall intensity was low. The rainfall duration had no relationship with either heavy metal concentrations or their total mass. Dynamics of heavy metal mass (load), with the exception of Cu and Zn, showed strong correlation with the 30 minute rainfall intensity (0.60~0.88) and runoff volume (0.74~0.89). While event mean concentration (EMC) showed positive correlation (0.54~0.73) with antecedent dry days (ADD), no significant relationship was found between runoff volume and pollutant concentration. This implies that the pollutants built up on the surface during dry days are washed off even with low rainfall energy. The dynamics of heavy metal and TSS concentrations showed good correlation (0.68~0.87). This result shows that the metals are transported along with solid particles as adsorbate in surface runoff. Regular street sweeping will reduce significant amount of heavy metal loads in urban surface runoff.
