Power demand forecasting is an important factor of the peak management. This paper deals with the 15 minutes ahead load forecasting problem in a DC urban railway system. Since supplied power lines to trains are connected with parallel, the load characteristics are too complex and highly non-linear. The main idea of the proposed method for the 15 minutes ahead prediction is to use the daily load similarity accounting for the load nonlinearity. An Euclidean norm with weighted factors including loads of the neighbor substation is used for the similar load selection. The prediction value is determinated by the sum of the similar load and the correction value. The correction has applied the neural network model. The feasibility of the proposed method is exemplified through some simulations applied to the actual load data of Incheon subway system.

The real-time railway safety monitoring and control system is for prevention of safety accidents, and this system adopts DDS (Data Distribution Service) standard based data transmission method to support integrated management of data from existing on-site safety detection devices. In this paper, we introduce the design of DDS-based data specification from on-site signal equipment on the conventional railway. For this, we (1) design UML data model of KRS SG 0062 standard which defines existing data specification, (2) define DDS Topics for DDS transmission and map KRS model to DDS Topic model, (3) suggest data transformation rules and (4) design network control QoS polices. In addition, we analysis actual on-site log data and validate our data specification design. DDS-based data transmission enables data compatibility among on-site devices and the real-time railway safety monitoring and control system, and allows efficient network management for a large amount of data transfer.

An interlocking equipment of railway signalling systems should have very high functional safety and reliability properties because of its vital railway protection functionality. In order to achieve the required safety and reliability level, an engineer, in general, designs and implements the interlocking equipment to operate under RTOS(Realtime Operating System) environment, and the control hardware architecture redundant to cope with the random failures of system or subsystem. In such an architecture, it's very difficult to implement the interlocking equipment to communicate with various interface systems including the signal operator's terminal. In this paper, we propose a dual ethernet network topology and dual packet seamless transfer protocol algorithm for railway signaling system such as the interlocking equipment. We verify in this paper that the proposed DPST protocol algorithm has the evidence of its robust properties against the random hardware faults and communication errors. The proposed communication structure and algorithm is implemented in the electronic interlocking equipment for the private railway system of Hyundai Steel Company and its performance and properties are validated on the guideline of European Railway Standard EN50159.
Recent trains have broadband train communication networks to improve train operation safety and to provide passengers with multimedia services. Compared to glass optical fiber, plastic optical fiber (POF) has a large diameter; it also provides the good durability and maintainability necessary to railway applications. This paper suggests an All-IP broadband train communication network that connects all devices in the train through a POF interface. Performance tests according to Korean railroad standards shows that this POF interface is usable in the range of vibration and temperature conditions encountered in trains. A dedicated Layer-2 switch with the POF interface is developed for the construction of the All-IP train communication network. A prototype 1Gbps train communication network was set up in a trial-run of train on a metro line using the developed Layer-2 switch and POF. On-track tests indicated the feasibility of the POF train communication network. POF has an additional advantage of economic feasibility, and it is expected to start a trend toward broadband train communication networks using POF.
'High speed' in today's railway is generally understood to mean 'regular revenue-earning operation of passenger trains at more than 200 km/h', and true high-speed services in this sense began in Japan in 1964. Today, Japan's high-speed rail network slightly exceeds 2, 000 km, carrying around 750, 000 passengers every day without any fatal accident for nearly 40 years.(omitted)
In oder to develope a train system for parcel service of high speed railway, which had been proposed for the operation of a high speed train, its conceptual design was build. Through this system, we are able to expect the fulfillment of customer needs for high speed rail market segments, and enhancement for cost-effective rail network operation of the mixed traffic on infrastructure cost-reduction in national logistics.
This paper presents a modeling of railway facilities based on object-oriented software development technique for train operation simulation program. Railway network is decomposed by Line Structure Model and Signal System Model which can be composed to make the train routes and train performance calculation. A brief explanation of class design about these model is provided.
This paper proposed train operation simulation algorithm, algorithm to determining operational mode and algorithm for train performance program, which play a important role in multi-train operation simulation. Using railway network modelling and signalling systems modelling already developed, these algorithms was presented.
The railways in Russia is a core of the industrial, trade and technological development. They changed the country for the best affecting all sides of its life. The total length of the railways in Russia is 87,500 km (7% of the World railway network). They account for about a 25% of the World freight and 15% of the passenger traffic. In terms of length of electrified railways Russia is a World leader and in terms of total length of tracks it is second after the USA. Annual freight turnover is the third after the USA and China. (omitted)
The electric railway has been widely used as a transportation all over the world. It also was opened in 1973 in korea and it has been steadily proceeded in making electric railway network for a big city and building Keongbu high speed , electric railway. That's why the system of electric railway is able to solve the environmental pollution and operate the useful energy in environmental ways, it helps to increase the ability of transportation and to decrease the cost. Because of the advantage of making the economic situation better, the system of electric railway is trying to do their best in developing technique of electric railway. Because of the increasing of transportation and the high speed operation, cars with regenerative braking system was adapted. Therefore, unbalanced voltage and current of three phase system and the drop and rise of voltage of feeding circuit is expected. Now that building the substation, newly spends lots of costs and time, it is a very difficult situation to solve the problem. We can guess that electric railway line can't receive power from the power system of bigger size in building newly electric railway. In this paper, it was proved that series voltage compensator was suitable as a solution according to voltage drop and voltage fluctuating through computer simulation.
