This study proposes a model for railway safety assessment with which the safety of whole railway system can be evaluated. The purpose of the assessment model is to generate safety indicators which quantitatively represent the degree of railway safety. Safety indicators were proposed as three indicators according to their functions; accident indicators, safety management indicators, and safety culture indicators. This paper describes the first result on the safety target which will be a key starting point toward the development of safety assessment model. It is recommended that the safety target to be composed of several sub-targets are apportioned to constituent components. It is concluded that the classification of safety target has influence on deciding components or attributes that constitute each sub-indicators; accident indicators, safety management indicators, and safety culture indicators. Based on this study, a railway safety assessment model will be developed in the following study.

The purpose of this study is to analyze human factors - stress, alcohol, fatigue - of the railway driver in domestic railway industry. This study proposes railway safety improvement of domestic railway by intensively comparing railway safety system overseas to reinforce domestic railway safety. Domestic railways well known the well-organized railway safety culture has brought up safety issues on their process of private management. With this process, also, domestic safety is requested by increasing sense of the safety for general public. This study expects Korean railways to become a well-organized that as removing insecure factors of domestic railway based on result comparing and analyzing the manual, factors and requirements of guideline for internal and external safety culture.

The safety culture of an organization is the product of individual and group values, attitudes, perceptions, competencies, and patterns of behaviour that determine the commitment to, and the style and proficiency of, an organization's health and safety management. A good safety culture includes effective, appropriate safety management systems; strong safety leadership & commitment from management; participation and involvement of the workforce; and organizational learning and continuous improvement. This paper will introduce the safety culture inspection standards and process in Korea Railway. The main purpose is to get a better understanding of safety culture and to develop measuring tool. First of all we developed the composition factor of safety culture and the question set. And we prepared the base of computerization of safety culture measurement by developing of evaluation standards and weighted value.

The korea railway design has been developed by change of the society and culture through the consideration of the history of railway. Accordingly there contribute in the development of the korea railway design by analyzing the trend according to the changes o the korea railway design and the changes of the life environment in this paper. As dividing the design by period according to the changes of life environment into the internal and external nation, there are to analyze the development history of the korea railway design accordingly the railway and the style's change, to confirm into the design applied in society and culture needs, and to analyze by a year in changes of the environment and the korea railway design history from the 1800's to 2005.

The purpose of this thesis is, based on the cognitive response of employees, to depict the phenomenon and the pattern of organizational culture in A Subway system, To attain this purpose, several aspects of organizational culture are surveyed through questionaire and analyzed by SPSS. The major findings are . 1) In general, the cognitive response of employees in railway-concerned firms on culture-related aspects is awfully negative. 2) Job satisfaction and involvement in A Subway is highly related to achievement factor in terms of culture. 3) According to the analysis based on four kinds of Job Groups, certain job groups such as drivers and vehicle maintenance are seen as having exceptionally negative attitude towards every aspects of their organization. So, some careful diagnosis and approaches to the symptoms, the causes, and the treatments are urgently needed.

This paper considers the case study of the change management and business innovation of the rail construction agency fer overcoming the crisis it faced in early stage. It will provide the suitable innovation techniques of each change stage. Also, each phase it evaluated the change degree of organization culture especially by the six box model of Weisbord and the Quinn's model. For the Period of Change, organization culture will grow about 10% and harmonize with 4 competitive organization culture; community, innovation, hierarchy, product. Only, it discovered that the difference of the current culture and rho organizer' wish is considerable by the Quinn's model. It wilt be able to describe the innovation fatigue which the organizers feel in the change of organization culture. For the successful innovation, it wilt have to be managed properly and the new innovation technique will have to be developed for solving.

Generally speaking, the uniqueness of Korea for the high-speed railway rolling-stock is mainly perceived through the travel over the high-speed electric railway by passengers, which consists of the organization of space in the coach and its interior design. For such purpose, it is necessary to build a series of independent cultures with high-speed railway i.e. to have the development of design technologies oriented to harmonizing human beings, their society and culture with the systematic integration of production technologies to support the culture and its substructure foundation which constitute the frame of superstructure in the society, by defining the relationships with travelers on the high-speed railway as well as enhancing the comfort and convenience of high-speed railway through drawing up the development of links with the systematic integration among lines of technologies on the basis of 'User Train Interface. This thesis aims at introducing the study carried out to build the evaluation standards of performance outputs for 'HEMU-400X rolling-stock Design' derived from the performance for the first year in the research 'Development of Technologies for the Next-Generation High-Speed Railway' as part of "Development Project for the Future Railway Technologies" from 2007.

In the 21st century, the traffic culture is changing suddenly with the advent of high-speed train era so called the traffic revolution age. The policy management for inducing the creativity becomes important for research institutes since the research institutes play an important role for the lead and distribution of new technologies. Therefore, the approach strategy of this investigation is based on the viewpoint of the organizational culture for better performance of research and development through stimulating inducements of creativity and active action of members. A questionnaire survey was performed on five research institutes including a professional railway research institute (PRRI) and four industrial research institutes for the current research, and a development plan for organizational culture of a PRRI has been presented based on the comparison study between two different types of research institutes.

Railway has been used as a transportation method since 18th century. Modern term of railway is defined as use of steam engine. Stockton & Darlington Railway in north western England firstly used steam engine. It was Manchester & Liverpool Railway which firstly ran systematized railroading system. Like this, railway had been developed in diverse forms in various countries, and these traditions are preserved well as time passes. Especially in UK, first country to run railway, has various methods to maintain railway cultural heritage. Japan also has organized railway culture protection system due to fast development of railway and many changes through privatization. In this research, railway cultural preservation systems of UK and Japan's are compated and lessons are looked for Korea. This paper chooses comparative and contrast method, and introduces laws, systems, and examples of two countries to find lessons.
