  • Today, the railway is very important in modern society means of public transport. Many people use the railway each day. On the other hand, with regard to railway accidents every year due to damage caused many casualties. In this paper, we propose railroad crossing accident prevention system for monitoring the situation based on OSGi for safe railway operations, about the same railroad crossing a dangerous place. This system, communication between the train and railroad crossing. So the information from the train crossing while a train driver was monitored in real time with more information than can help prevent accidents on the crossing. Using the OSGi framework, can be used widely in many hardware.

Comparison of Deep-Learning Algorithms for the Detection of Railroad Pedestrians

  • Railway transportation is the main land-based transportation in most countries. Accordingly, railway-transportation safety has always been a key issue for many researchers. Railway pedestrian accidents are the main reasons of railway-transportation casualties. In this study, we conduct experiments to determine which of the latest convolutional neural network models and algorithms are appropriate to build pedestrian railroad accident prevention systems. When a drone cruises over a pre-specified path and altitude, the real-time status around the rail is recorded, following which the image information is transmitted back to the server in time. Subsequently, the images are analyzed to determine whether pedestrians are present around the railroads, and a speed-deceleration order is immediately sent to the train driver, resulting in a reduction of the instances of pedestrian railroad accidents. This is the first part of an envisioned drone-based intelligent security system. This system can effectively address the problem of insufficient manual police force.

  • The accidents in a railway level crossing where passengers or vehicles pass on the track went through by the train with a inherent high rate on incidents lead to a vast economic damage on people and material resources. So, many protection equipments are placed on the railway crossing to prevent those kind of accidents. But there is a limit to control driver's rough activity, passenger's careless or an intentional accident. This study is trying to ensure the safety in railway crossing by providing the information on train's speed and expected passing time on the railroad to a road traffic control system or car driver. Additionally, this system has been studying the railway level crossing system concerning ITS to support harmonious traffic flow.

  • In Korea more than 38,000 types of hazardous material(HAZMAT) are distributed, accordingly the accidents during transportation are also increasing. The agencies related to HAZMAT such as Environment Ministry, National Emergency Management Agency and National Police Agency have their own regulations. However, the classification criteria of HAZMAT are different to each other, which causes many problems in response to transportation accidents. In this study the classification standard of HAZMAT and the classification code using CAS number are suggested to manage HAZMAT efficiently. Through efficient management and standard classification of HAZMAT, the rapid and systematic response to transportation accidents related to HAZMAT is expected to be possible.

  • 철도는 다양한 분야에서 이용되며, 현재 많은 인원과 물류를 운송할 수 있는 효과적이고 친환경적인 교통수단이다. 근래에 들어 지하철을 비롯한 철도에 사고는 인명피해 및 물적 사고로 대부분 인재에 속하며, 이를 방지하기위한 안전 대책을 강구하는 방안이 추진 중이다. 본 논문에서는 철도 건널목 사고 예방을 위한 시스템의 개발을 목적으로 열차의 상황정보를 기반으로 기본적인 철도 건널목 안전관리시스템의 확장뿐만 아니라, 시스템 측면에서도 유연성을 제공할 수 있는 OSGi 프레임워크 기반 상황인지형 스마트 철도 건널목 안전 관리시스템을 구현하는 것을 목적으로 한다.

철도건널목 지장물 검지를 위한 보판센서 연구 개발 (A Study on the Development of Panel Sensor for Obstruction Detecting at the Railway Level Crossing)

  • For a short-term measurement to reduce an accident on a railroad crossing, it is necessary to find out the weakness and problems of existing equipment in the railroad transportation system. The analysis of railroad crossing accidents shows that main causes of accidents (24.9%) are the careless driving including an engine problem, damage on the safety equipment, slide on the snow, and an engine stop on the railroad crossing. Therefore, it is required to install a sensor, or to make a crossing gate at the exist for detecting obstacles on a railroad to prevent collisions among trains. This paper suggests 'a panel sensor using the strain gauge' to make up the weaknesses of the sensing Dead Zone, which are caused by using a laser method, and to detect any small objects passing railroads in order to reduce the errors, which are occurred in the earth magnetic field for controlling Exit Slide Crossing Arm Detector. The device, suggested in this paper, is verified with detecting any small objects passing the railroad, with judging entry decision clearly, and with controlling passing gate and obstruction warnings/cautions obstacles at the same time, through an experimental test.

철도건널목 사고 위험도-발생빈도 평가모델 개발 (Development of Risk-Appearance Frequency Evaluation Model for Railway Level-Crossing Accidents)

  • In this study, a risk-appearance frequency evaluation model for railway level-crossing accidents is developed with the frequency estimation based on the accident history. It follows the worldwide common safety management approach and reflects the operation conditions and accident properties of the domestic railway system. The risk appearance frequency evaluation process contains a development of accident scenarios by defining the system configurations and functions, and a frequency estimation of hazardous events based on the accident history. The developed model is verified with the accident history during 5 years('03-'07) for 3 hazardous events: 'Being trapped in level crossing(Hl)', 'Crossing during warning signal(H2)' and 'Breaking through/detouring the barrier(H3)'. This risk appearance frequency evaluation model will be combined with a consequence evaluation model so as to offer full risk assessment for the railway accident. The accident risk assessment will contribute to improving the safety management of the railway system.

  • 철도수송현장에는 인적오류에 의한 사고가 대부분이며 그중 직접 열차를 조종하는 기관사의 신호 확인 결여, 제동취급 불량, 억측운전, 타성에 젖은 불안전한 습관 등이 사고의 원인되어 사고가 발생되며 판단과 조치미숙으로 병발사고로 이어진다. 우리는 10년간 운전사고 통계분석으로 사고유형과 발생 비율을 조사하고 철도원들의 인적오류로 인한 국내외 사례를 분석하고 대구지하철 화재사고와 서울도시철도 7호선 화재사고를 비교분석을 하며 일반철도와 지하철 1인 승무로 인한 문제점을 찾고자 한다. 또 철도사고를 방지하기 위해서는 이론과 기능이 겸비된 우수한 인력을 양성해야 하는 가운데 철도기관사 양성 시스템과 다른 나라 양성제도와 법과 규정을 비교하고 사상사고로 인한 직업병과 그 대책을 찾기로 한다. 결론으로 사고원인은 인간에게 있으며 교육 및 인사시스템에 많은 문제점이 발견되어 직군과 직렬의 개방이 필요하며 다양한 인적자원을 적의적소에 배치하여 1차적 인적오류를 차단하고 직업병 발병과 처리를 조기에 해결할 수 있으며 철도 접근성이 없는 일반인 공채보다 직원가운데 기관사를 양성하는 교육시스템 전환과 지하철 열차화재나 차량고장사고로 처리를 위해 선진국처럼 2인 승무를 대체할 제도적 법제화와 1인 2기 인사시스템 개선이 필요하다.

건강, 인지 및 안전풍토가 안전행동과 사고에 미치는 영향: 철도기관사를 중심으로 (The Effects of Health, Cognition, and Safety Climate on Safety Behavior and Accidents: Focused on Train Drivers)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 철도분야에서 중요한 과제로 부각되고 있는 휴먼에러를 주제로 하여 개인차원의 건강과 인지, 그리고 조직차원의 안전풍토가 안전행동 및 사고에 미치는 영향을 실증적 접근을 통해 탐색적으로 살펴보려는데 있다. 현직기관사 204명의 설문에 토대한 연구 결과 개인차원의 심리적 피로, 인지실패 및 내적통제와 조직차원의 CEO경영철학 및 직속상사가 안전행동에 유의한 영향을 미치며, 사고유발에는 인지실패, CEO 경영철학, 직속상사 및 교육훈련이 유의한 영향을 미치는 변인인 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 실수와 위반 등 불안전행동이 각각 아차사고 및 책임사고에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인하였다. 이 같은 결과를 토대로 휴먼 에러 저감을 위해 필요한 제도적 방안을 제안하였다.

KTX 정차역 통과사고 원인분석 및 예방대책 (A Study on the Technique for Preventing Passing-by of High-speed Train)

  • It is commonly recognized that railway is one of the representative transportation and it offers public service based on strategies for being rapid, automation, safety. Since the opening of high speed railway, 3-hundred-million people have used it and acknowledged its efficiency. However, derailed accident at Kwangmyeong station in February, 2011, frequent malfunction of KTX-Sancheon, and accidents by engineer's careless fault damaged on credibility of safety, Especially, spreaded accidents through social networking service by cell phones amplified anxiety of public, being criticized by the press. This study analyzed statistics of past accident and cases of passing-by accident, and surveyed 152 KTX captain engineers about their recognition of the accident by careless fault and experiences of possibility of occurrence for preventing engineer's careless fault and restoring trust According to the analysis, engineers worry about responsibility and disadvantages related to the accidents for the most, and they are nervous about malfunction for the second most. This study presents prevention methods regarding the result. First, it is required to improve mental stability and concentration on their work, secondly, advanced ability to cope with malfunction or error through repetitive education and training are required to increase confidence, and for the last, improvement of operational supporting system such as ATP, GPS to prevent errors by human factors. Improvement of the system is expected to lead engineers to prevent careless fault and regain the reputation of railway.
