  • This study is a kind of preliminary research in order to propose and suggest the plan of performance improvement for the speed-up through the examination of operational condition on the field for signal system facility on the conventional railway, in order to obtain the elemental technology from the technical development for utilization of high speed train which will be run on the Korea Conventional Line and, finally, in order to propose the specification of signal system using for high speed and the scheme of establishment for the optimal signal system.

견인제동 계측시스템 개발 (Development of Measurement System for Traction and Braking)

  • In this paper, we introduce the software and hardware of the measuring system for on-line test and performances evaluation of traction and braking in KTX(Korea Train Express). The measuring system focuses on the verification of the performance and acquisition of test data. The hardware is connected many kinds of sensors, such as speed sensor, thermocouple. The software controls the hardware of the measuring system, performs the analysis and calculation of measurement data and acts as interface between users and the hardware. For this purpose, three programs, such as a measuring program, a back-up program and a analysis program, have developed.

  • 현재 철도시스템은 속도향상에 따른 각 부품의 한계에 직면하고 있다. 이 한계를 극복하고 각 시스템의 기능 향상을 위해 다양한 연구가 수행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 철도시스템에 나노기술과 같은 신기술을 융합하여 각 부분의 성능향상과 한계 극복 방안을 제시하는 기초 연구개발 방향에 대하여 기술하였다. 전기철도에 NT (Nano Technology)를 적용하기 위해 철도 시스템 전반에 걸친 탐색 연구를 수행하여 다양한 가능성 있고 특히 나노 기술을 이용한 철도시스템의 에너지효율 방안에 대하여 4가지의 기본적인 방안을 추출 하였다. 그 방안의 하나인 철도시스템의 에너지 전달을 위한 핵심부품인 집전판의 개선을 위한 기초 연구 결과를 상세 기술하였다.

  • In these days, as it frequently happens that water level in the river exceeds the design floods due to irregular heavy rainfall, so it is required, first of an, to manage with railroad bridge safely. Because train control criterion under heavy rainfall is still not prepared and automatic flood monitoring system for railroad bridges is not used, worry over invisible economic loss due to train passage delay is in existence. Therefore, it is important to secure the safety and detect the risk like turnover or failure of railroad bridges through systematic disaster prevention system. And the transition from conventional monitoring method to real time monitoring method supported by sensors and communication system with high technology is rapidly needed. This research is on developing the real time flood monitoring system which prevents railroad disasters in advance by detecting continuously the water level of railroad bridge through CCD camera and water level gauge.

  • 본 논문에서는 철도차량용 견인전동기의 열적, 기계적, 전기적 열화 및 환경열화 등의 절연열화 메카니즘에 대해서 검토하였으며, 전동기 주절연물의 전반적인 열화경향 파악과 국부적열화 검출을 위해 현재 적용되고 있는 절연저항, $tan{\delta}$, 직류성분, 정전용량 판정 및 부분방전 시험 등의 각종 절연진단 시험법과 최종적인 교류전압파괴 강도와의 상관성을 추정하는 진단기술의 현황과 그 유용성을 소개한다.

  • This paper presents contactless power supply systems using the Valtchev model in transportation systems. The major drawback of contactless systems is that the efficiency is lower than that of contact systems. The coupling coefficient of the contactless transformer is the most influential parameter on the system efficiency. Here, a new computer model for the contactless transfer system developed in the Korea Railroad Research Institute is presented. Also, simulations of the old model and the new model are compared with the prototype measurement to assure the model validity.

  • Automation systems for higher performance and efficiency in railway electrification systems are driving ever more demanding needs for new condition monitering systems which can consist of sensors connected to the substation and catenary systems. This paper reviews the recently developed condition monitering system, based on a IP network-based multi-agent system, wireless communications and sensor networks for railway electrification system. A new concept for information management, condition monitoring and control of power transmission are considered as railway automation in electrification system.

Current Trend and Direction of Deep Learning Method to Railroad Defect Detection and Inspection

  • In recent years, the application of deep learning method to computer vision has shown to achieve great performances. Thus, many research projects have also applied deep learning technology to railroad defect detection. In this paper, we have reviewed the researches that applied computer vision based deep learning method to railroad defect detection and inspection, and have discussed the current trend and the direction of those researches. Many research projects were targeted to operate automatically without visual inspection of human and to work in real-time. Therefore, methods to speed up the computation were also investigated. The reduction of the number of learning parameters was considered important to improve computation efficiency. In addition to computation speed issue, the problem of annotation was also discussed in some research projects. To alleviate the problem of time consuming annotation, some kinds of automatic segmentation of the railroad defect or self-supervised methods have been suggested.

  • The PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) system is a new transportation system in accordance with the requirements of the passengers. Although this PRT system was proposed a long time ago, it did not hold the limelight due to the several limitations in technology. However, the research and development has been active again recently thanks to the development in technology and the review on its applicability as the means of transportation linking to the urban transit system. Although most of these recent studies in relation to the PRT are focused on the hardware such as PRT vehicles or track structures, etc., the operational aspect of it is more important than that of any other means of public transportation. Therefore, among studies on operational aspect of this PRT system, this paper shows the result of study on technology in relation to the movement of vehicle to the station where it was called by the passenger through interface of the wayside control center with the vehicle control system in case where the passenger calls a vehicle at the station.

철도 선로용량 산정방법 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Methods of Assessing Railroad Track Capacity)

  • 본 연구에서는 철도 선로용량 산정 관련 다양한 기존 연구들을 재검토한다. 국내외에서 대표적인 이 분야 3가지 방법(야마기시, UIC 및 TCRP 방법)들을 사례와 함께 설명한다. 먼저 국내에서 가장 많이 활용되는 방식이면서도 각 단계에 대해 명확하게 이해되지 않았던 야마기시 방법의 산식 전개과정을 명확하게 제시한다. 또한, 다양한 해석적 방법의 하나로써 이 방법의 발전적 활용방안을 제시한다. 다음 최근 유럽에서 표준적으로 사용되는 UIC 406 방법의 제정 과정과 적용 방법을 설명한다. 마지막으로 도시철도의 수송용량 분석에 주로 활용되는 TCRP 방법의 특징을 설명하고, 이 3가지 방법의 특징을 비교 분석한다. 본 논문은 이 분야 현업 종사자들이 현재 사용 중인 철도 선로용량 산식에 대한 이해를 향상하고, 국제적으로 통용되는 방법의 국내 적용 활성화에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.
