  • The Periodic replacements criterion of rail is calculated on the basis of the research result of RTRI in Japan. It is suggested that the service life of the continuous welded rail(CWR) is estimated by the relationship between the rail surface irregularity according to the accumulated passing tonnage and bending fatigue of welded part in CWR. In order to establish the periodic replacements criterion of CWR, this study measured the rail surface irregularity according to the accumulated passing tonnage, the types of track system and welding. Therefore, it is analyzed that the gas pressure welding is the worst one of the others. In addition, it is analyzed that the rail surface irregularity growth rate in ballast track is about $0.02{\sim}0.03mm$/100MGT and its in concrete track is about $0.005{\sim}0.02mm$/100MGT Finally, the result of this study is able to use the basis data to establishing the periodic replacements criterion of CWR considering rail grinding.

레일형 교량신축이음장치 용접부의 피로강도 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fatigue Strength Evaluation in Rail-type Expansion Joint Weldment of Bridge)

  • This paper is especially concerned with the weldment between support beam and square bar that plays important roles in control box of Expansion Joint as a bridge structure. Fatigue strength of the weldment is dependent on notch radius from welding defects and material properties. From which, tensile strength($\sigma$ult) and fatigue notch factor(Kf) become important factors to predict fatigue life. The fatigue notch sensitivity(η) for metals can be divided into two types : high and low notch sensitivity. In this work, the Expansion Joint weldment was found to have low notch sensitivity. Fatigue test of real structure was performed up to 106cycles to be compared with predicted endurance limit.

차륜 및 차축의 변형을 고려한 차륜-레일 접촉해석 (Wheel-Rail Contact Analysis considering the Deformation of Wheel and Axle)

  • A precise evaluation of the contact position and the distribution of contact pressure in a wheel-rail interface analysis is one of the most important procedures to predict fatigue life and wear of wheel and rail. This paper presents the analysis result of finite element method(FEM) to investigate how the deformation of a wheelset, which is the assembly of wheel and axle of a railroad vehicle, affect the contact analysis of wheel and rail. 3D-FEM was used to analyze three contact models; a model with only wheel, a model with wheelset, and a model with simplified wheel and rail geometry. The analysis result of the contact position and the distribution of contact pressure are discussed. It is shown that the analysis results of a model with wheelset represent largest value with respect to contact pressure and contact stress. Furthermore, it is found that the distribution of contact pressure and the contact position is highly affected by the deformation of wheel and axle. It is concluded that the deformation of axle should be considered to evaluate the exact contact parameters in a wheel-rail contact analysis.

교량 신축부 허용 침목간격 검토 (Review on the Allowable Sleeper Spacing at a Bridge Expansion Joint)

  • It is increasing construction of long span railway bridge with concrete track system for speed up of railway and efficient maintenance of track. As the sleeper of the concrete track system layed on a bridge is fixed on deck of the bridge, the displacement of the sleeper and deck is same. Therefore, the spacing between two sleeper installed at the end of the adjacent deck near the expansion joint of bridge becomes vary according to the longitudinal expansion of a deck by temperature change. By the way, if the spacing of sleepers become increase excessively, it causes large bending stress of in a rail, and it can leads failure or reduction of fatigue life of the rail. Further more, the excessive displacement of the rail may induce decrease ride comfort as well as corrugation of rail surface. Therefore, it is required to determine the allowable maximum sleeper spacing to prevent such problems. For the purpose, investigation on the influence factor on sleeper spacing for straight track was carried out. Variation of bending moment in a rail, wheel force, and the ratio of primary and secondary deflection of the rail according to sleeper spacing was investigated, and, as a result, the maximum allowable sleeper spacing at the bridge expansion joint was suggested.

  • Resilient pads play a major role in reducing the impact of loads on a rail in a rail-fastening system, which is essentially used for a concrete track. Although a compression set test is commonly used to measure the durability of a resilient pad, the static spring constant is often observed to be different from the fatigue test. In this study, a modified compression set test method was proposed to monitor the variations in the compression set and static spring constant of a resilient pad with respect to temperature and time. In addition, the life of the resilient pad was predicted by performing an acceleration test based on the Arrhenius equation.

누적통과톤수에 의한 국내 레일교체기준의 타당성 평가 (Logicality Estimate for Domestic the Periodic Replacement Criteria of CWR based on Accumulated Passing Tonnage)

  • 본 논문은 누적통과톤수에 의한 레일교체기준 개정을 위한 기초 데이터를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 국외의 누적통과톤수에 의한 레일교체기준의 산정근거를 조사하였으며, 일본에서 조사된 레일용접부 결합유형 및 원인과 국내 철도운영기관인 서울메트로의 궤도유지관리이력을 조사하여 실제 레일절손과 누적통과톤수의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 또한, 누적통과톤수 기준치에 도래한 노후레일 용접부를 현장에서 발췌하여 레일용접부 휨시험을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 누적통과톤수와 레일절손간의 상관관계는 뚜렷하지 않았으며 레일용접부의 시공불량에 의한 절손사례가 많은 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 노후레일휨시험 결과 신규레일용접부에 비해 파괴강도가 $17{\sim}18%$만이 저하된 것으로 나타나 레안교체기준에 도래한 노후레일은 사용성 측면에서 충분한 내구성 및 내하력을 확보하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

철도차량의 바퀴에 대한 구조 해석 (Structural Analysis on the Wheel of Railway Vehicle)

  • This study aims at the structural analysis with fatigue according to the configuration of railway vehicle wheel. Maximum equivalent stress or deformation is shown at the lower face in contact with wheel and rail. As model B has the maximum stress or deformation which becomes lower than model A, model B is shown to have more durability than model A. Among the cases of nonuniform fatigue loads, 'SAE bracket history' with the severest change of load becomes most unstable but 'Sample history' becomes most stable. In case of 'Sample history' with the average stress of 0 to $-10^{11}$ Pa and the amplitude stress of 0 to $10^{10}$ Pa, the possibility of maximum damage becomes 3%. This stress state can be shown with 6 times more than the damage possibility of 'SAE Bracket history' or 'SAE transmission'. The structural result of this study can be effectively utilized with the design of railway vehicle wheel by prevention and durability against its damage.

자기부상열차의 동적 거동을 고려한 내구해석 기법개발 (Evaluation of Dynamic Fatigue Life for Maglev Bogie Frame)

  • 현재 국내에서 연구 개발 중인 자기부상열차는 대차 프레임에 장착되어 있는 전자석에서 부상과 안내가 이루어지고 역시 대차 사이드프레임 하단에 위치한 리니어모터에서 추진력을 발생하여 주행하는 방식으로 되어있다. 본 논문에서는 자기부상차량이 다양한 주행시나리오에 따라 부상 주행시 대차프레임의 수명평가를 예측하기 위한 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 가이드레일의 불규칙도를 고려한 동역학해석에서 구한 동하중을 이용하여 대차의 진동특성을 고려한 내구해석을 수행하고 기존의 정적내구해석에서 나타나지 않았던 취약부위를 추가적으로 검토할 수 있었다.

반응표면법에 의한 승강장 안전문(PSD) 부재의 최적화 (Optimization of the Passenger Safety Door(PSD) Part using Response Surface Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 승객 보호용으로 지하철 역사에 설치된 PSD(승강장 스크린 도어)의 상부 헤더박스 내에 부착되어 개폐용 유리문을 지지하는 알루미늄 구동(레일)부재에 대한 구조해석과 최적설계를 수행하였다. 구동부재의 볼트 체결부에 대한 엄밀한 구조해석을 위하여 물리적 현상과 일치하도록 상세 유한요소 모델링하여 해석의 정확도를 높였다. 또한 유리문이 구동부재에 걸려 있으면서 개폐될 때 발생하는 하중의 이동상태를 고려한 구조해석 결과, 설계 목표치인 내구 수명 20년이 만족되었다. 구동부재 단면의 단면 길이를 설계변수로 하고 설계제약조건(응력의 최소화, 중량의 감소)에 만족할 수 있도록 반응표면법을 적용한 최적화를 수행하여 15%의 감량 결과를 도출하였다.
