AC traction power supply system has adopted autotransformer (AT) feeding method. This system has an advantage as long feeding distance. However, the countermeasure for voltage drop should be considered, because load capacity grows larger and headway grows shorter in recent electric railway system. This paper proposes the improved system configuration to enhance voltage drop in ac railway system without additional power electronic device. That is to increase turn ratio between contact wire and rail of AT. By modifying turn ratio of AT at SSP or SP, collecting voltage on train will be enhanced.
As railroad industry faces the new Renaissance era, effective and efficient maintenance methods for rolling stock operation are required with advanced railroad technology. All kinds of railroad systems such as high-speed long-distance train, metropolitan mass transit and light rail require systematic maintenance technology in order to maintain the safe railroad operation. Simulation models for regular operations of the example maintenance center are developed. In this study, standard maintenance procedures, layout, equipments, and number of workers of Siheung Metropolitan Railroad Maintenance Rolling Stock Depot are considered. The proposed simulation models are developed using simulation package ARENA. After simulation, four types of observations are analyzed. First, the bottleneck operation is identified. Second, the relationship between maintenance center size, number of workers and cycle time is analyzed. Third, the scheduling performances between PERT/CPM and Critical Chain Project Management(CCPM) are compared. Lastly, the simulation results according to worker's working coverage shows expanding the worker's coverage decreases the cycle time and increases throughput per train. However, workers are to be fully trained to do multiple skill work.

The foam-filled tube beams can be used for the front rail and firewall structures to absorb impact energy during frontal or side collision of vehicles. In the case of side collision where bending is involved in the crushing mechanism, the foam filler would be effective in maintaining progressive crushing of the thin-walled structures so that much impact energy could be absorbed. In this study, bending behaviors of the closed-cell-aluminum-alloy-foam-filled stainless steel tube were investigated. The various foam-filled specimens including piecewise fillers were prepared and tested. The aluminum-alloy-foam filling offered the significant increase of bending resistance. Their suppression of the inward fold formation at the compression flange as well as the multiple propagating folds led to the increase of load carrying capacity of specimens. Moreover, the piecewise foams would provide the easier way to fill the thin-walled shell structures without the drawback of strength.

when electric traction system used DC 1500V runs on decline of rail road track and slows down, Dc voltage goes beyond regular voltage. In this case extra power is forcibly wasted by resister because rectifier of substation and electric train including power converter and so on are out of order. This paper described a DC electric railway system, which can generate the excessive DC power form DC bus line to AC source in substation for traction system. The proposed regeneration inverter system for DC traction can be used as both an inverter and an active power filter(APF). As a regeneration inverter mode, it can recycle regenerative energy caused by decelerating tractions and as an active power filter mode, it can compensate for harmonic distortion produced by the rectifier substation. In addition, electric traction system products harmonic current and voltage distortion and reactive power because power converter is used so regeneration inverter normally runs such as active power filter(APF) for improving power quality. From the viewpoint of both power capacity and switching losses, the system is designed on the basis of three phase PWM inverters and composed of parallel inverters, output transformers, and an LCL filter.

In the frontal collision of cars, front parts of cars such as engine rail and side members that are composed of hatted section tubes should absorb most of the collision energy far the passenger compartment not to be deformed. For these reasons the study on the collapse characteristics, maximum crushing load and energy absorption capacity of hatted section tubes are needed. In this study, top hatted section tubes and double hatted section tubes are investigated. The maximum crushing load of hatted section tubes is induced from plastic buckling stress of plates by considering that the hatted section tubes are composed of plates with each different boundary conditions and that its material has a strain hardening effect. On this concept maximum crushing load equations of hatted section tubes are derived and verified by experiments. from the results of experiment, the differences of collapse characteristics between top hatted section tube and double hatted section tube are analysed. And mean crushing loads of hatted section tubes from experiments are compared with other theory.

Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) technology has recently attracted significant attention from academia and industry because of it is increasingly important role in improving networks' capacity and data rate. Moreover, MU-MIMO systems for the Fifth Generation (5G) have already been researched. High Quality of Service (QoS) and efficient operations at the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer have become key requirements. In this paper, we propose a downlink MU-MIMO MAC protocol based on adaptive Channel State Information (CSI) feedback (called MMM-A) for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). A modified CSMA/CA mechanism using new frame formats is adopted in the proposed protocol. Specifically, the CSI is exchanged between stations (STAs) in an adaptive way, and a packet selection strategy which can guarantee a fairer QoS for scenarios with differentiated traffic is also included in the MMM-A protocol. We then derive the expressions of the throughput and access delay, and analyze the performance of the protocol. It is easy to find that the MMM-A protocol outperforms the commonly used protocols in terms of the saturated throughput and access delay through simulation and analysis results.
The contact characteristics of the current collection system are investigated by analyzing data collected during a test run of the Korean high speed rail vehicle. For the analysis, the signals from accelerometers and load cells attached to the various parts of the pantograph are analyzed in both the time and frequency domains. In the frequency domain, the pantograph response consists of low frequency components related to the rigid-body motion of the panhead assembly and high frequency components due to the structural vibration modes of the pantograph. The analysis shows that the inclusion of the high frequency structural vibration modes of the pantograph in the contact force calculation has a negligible effect on the predicted mean value of the contact force but significantly affects the magnitude of its fluctuations. This finding implies that numerical simulations using lumped element models of the pantograph may accurately predict the mean contact force but is limited in its capacity for predicting the fluctuation about the mean. Since the ratio of the fluctuation to the mean in the contact force increases with increased train speed, the limitation of the predictions based on numerical simulation results becomes more pronounced at higher train speed.
In this paper, u-FOS system is applied to field test in order to design the code structure based on standards and both 900MHz passive and 2.45GHz active RFID devices were used to test identification capacity in the field tests. For the stable RFID data obtainments, optimum speed of trucks and rail cars and most suitable tagging locations on them were resulted from field tests. The data obtained from ground logistics base and identified through the system is sent to u-FOS. Because the code structure is designed in the form of KKR code structure, this system can be implemented on RFID ODS network without difficulty. Therefore, we suggested the result as a guideline for corporations and government agencies to easily adopt the system.
Bimodal Tram is spotlighted for alternative public transportation system which have punctualness, efficiency, and convenience running between capacity of bus and light rail transit. It have the advantage of automatic operation system when it runs at exclusive right-of-way as like as railway, runs as same as a bus at road concurrently. However, concrete construction plan is not established since the law as well as government subsidy are not defined. For activating bimodal tram construction, this paper analyzed as below. 1) understanding obstacles of activating construction through current status of local governments' bimodal tram promotion plan, 2) finding essential elements for legislation through transportation mode characteristics comparison and system rules analysis, 3) related foreign law analysis.
Since the 20th century, the business of railway was invaded by the invention of airplanes and vehicles in the field of the transportation of passenger and commercial products, however, in the 21st century, the fervent development of a high speed railway made possible the huge capacity of transporting passengers and commercial freight, so the railway industry is facing a new era of railway revolution. The 200 years old railway tradition includes the history of railway bridges built in areas of river, valley and metropolitan region and in that, the number of constructions of railway bridges that is composed of cable-stayed bridges is increasing as one of the most optimal bridges considering the quality of materials and the span of continuous-welded long rail. Thanks to the minimized effects of the fixed load on the stiffening girder section by delivering the fixed load which is applied to the pylon with the composition of elastic supporting points by using cables and the effective structural system that can throughly resist extra loads in addition to fixed load, the long-extended span of a bridge becomes possible. In this structural system, the load that is applied to the stiffening girder section forms a now pattern and in the process of these load delivery, there will be a necessity to examine the concentration of stress occurred in the cable-anchor system of the cable.
