타원용기 성형에서 블랭크 형상에 따른 펀치하중 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Punch Load According to Blank Shape in Elliptical Cup Forming)

  • Deep drawing process, one of sheet metal forming methods, is very useful in the industrial field because of its efficiency The deep drawing is affected by many process variables, such as blank shapes, shape radii of the punch and die, formability of materials and so on. Especially, blank shape is very important formability factor. In this study, in order to investigate the effects of blank shape, we suggested three kinds of blank shapes and examined friction test about three conditions. We measured punch load distribution according to punch stroke under the conditions of each punch and die shape radii and observed punch load of elliptical cup forming.

  • A good drawability of material itself is required. To improve the formability in deep drawing process. Besides that bending resistance should be reduced by increasing die round appropriately, drawing load should be minimized by improving the lubricant condition between die and material, and breaking load should be increased by selecting a pertinent punch round and by augmenting the friction resistance in Punch. In this study, a multi-stage deep drawing process is analyzed using ABAQUS, the effects of formability factors. Such as die shoulder radius, punch-die clearance and friction coefficient are investigated.

  • During the deep drawing process an initially flat blank is clamped between the die and the blank holder after which the punch moves down to deform the clamped blank into the desired shape. In general, sheet metal forming may involve stretching, drawing, bending or various combinations of those basic modes of deformation. The deformation problems of sheet metal working involve non-linearity in geometry and material. In this work, The punch load and thickness strain of electro-galvanized sheet steel (SECD) for elliptical deep drawing are examined under the various process conditions including, punch shape radius, die shape radius. The changes of punch load and thickness strain distribution of the deformed elliptical cup are affected by the size of each die shape radius.

Mg 온간성형을 위한 십자형상 금형의 가열/냉각 채널 설계 (Heating and Cooling Channel Design of Cross-Shaped Die for Warm Forming of Magnesium Alloy Sheet)

  • It is known that the temperatures of die, punch, holder and punch pad need to be kept different to get better formability in Mg sheet forming processes. Heating and cooling channels are usually equipped in each tool to assign different temperature. This study focused on the optimal design of the heating and cooling channels for a cross-shaped deep drawing die set. While the die and blankholder were heated to and kept at $250^{\circ}C$ by using heat cartridges, the punch and punch pad were kept at much lower temperature than that of the die and blankholder by water circulating through cooling channels. All the approaches were done by numerical analyses, aiming to maximize the cup height and to minimize the punch corner radius without any failure.

  • Magnesium alloy has low formability at room temperature and therefore, in many cases, forming at elevated temperatures is necessary to obtain the required material flow without failure. Tn the present study, square cup deep drawing tests using the magnesium alloy AE31 sheet were experimentally conducted using the porches and dies with different edge radius to evaluate the formability sensitivity to the die design variables. The experimental results showed that the fracture position over the cup wall moved from the punch nose to the flange as the die temperature increased, and that the drawing depth change was more affected by the punch radius than the die radius.

다구찌법을 활용한 헤딩공정설계 최적화 연구 (A study on the cold heading process design optimization by taguchi method)

  • 본 연구에서는 냉간 헤딩 공정에서 성형하중과 펀치 금형의 마모 감소를 통한 펀치 수명 증대를 위해 헤딩용 펀치 형상 최적설계를 수행하였다. 기존 생산에 사용되는 냉간 헤딩 펀치와 성형공정에 대한 유한요소해석 시뮬레이션을 통해 성형하중과 유동 특성 분석, 펀치금형에 집중되는 유효응력 및 마모량에 대하여 분석하였으며, 이를 통해 금형 마모와 밀접한 주요 설계인자를 확인하였다. 펀치금형의 최적설계 변수로서는 펀치 금형 포인트각(Point angle), 에지 반경값(Corner radius), 펀치소재재종(die material type), 마찰계수(friction coefficient) 등의 4가지 변수를 대상으로 4인자 3수준 인자 및 변수 수준을 설정하고, 성형해석 시뮬레이션과 다구찌법을 활용하여 설계인자별 영향도를 분석하여 최적의 최적설계 인자를 결정하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 최적설계변수를 적용하여 냉간 헤딩용 펀치 최적설계 시뮬레이션 결과, 각 펀치에 발생하는 최대유효응력은 최대 8.9 % 감소 효과를, 최대 펀치 마모 깊이는 37 % 감소 효과를, 성형하중은 평균 20% 수준 의 감소효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 현재, 소성 성형제품군이 적용되는 자동차, 건설 플랜트사에서 요구되는 고품질에 대응하면서도 적정 제조원가 절감을 위한 성형성 개선을 위한 성형공정개발 및 금형설계의 최적화가 지속적으로 필요하며, 향후 연구 결과를 현업에 적용하여 제품 성형성 개선 및 금형수명 증대 관리를 위한 기술자료로 활용하고자 한다.

  • Numerical simulation of sheet metal forming for panels as other components has wide acceptance in the automotive industry. Therefore this paper was focused in the drawability factors (which are friction coefficient , radius of die and punch ) on the square cup deep drawing by the explicit finite elements code $PAM-STAMP^{TM}$. The computed results are compared with the experimental results to show the validity of the analysis. In order to compare the simulation results with the experiment results and predict the effect of drawability factors, the relationships between punch load punch stroke, and the relationships between thickness strain and distance are used. According to this study, the results of simulation by using $PAM-STAMP^{TM}$ will give engineers good information to access the drawability of square drawing.

  • Uneven clearances in the left and right sides of a press die cause deformation of the punch in precision shearing process. This deformation results from the compression stress and bending moment from shearing force in vertical direction and from the side force in horizontal direction acting to the punch, In this study the behavior of punch deformation is investigated in order to clarify the deformation state of the punch by using strain gauge deformation to shearing force side force bending moment radius of curvature and shear plane of the punch. Also we presented the calculation method of deformation size for the punch.

  • A shape error of the sheet metal product made by a flexible stretch forming process is occurred by a various forming parameters. A die used in the flexible stretch forming is composed of a punch array to obtain the various objective surfaces using only one die. But gaps between the punches induce the shape error and the defect such as a scratch. Forming parameters of the punch size and the elastic pad to prevent the surface defect must be considered in the flexible die design process. In this study, tendency analysis of shape error according to the forming parameters in the flexible stretch process is conducted using a finite element method. Three forming parameters, which are the punch size, the objective curvature radius and the elastic pad thickness, are considered. Finite element modeling using the punch height calculation algorithm and the evaluation method of the shape error, which is a representative value for the formability of formed surface, are proposed. Consequently, the shape error is in proportion to the punch size and is out of proportion to the objective curvature radius and the elastic pad thickness.

각통 드로잉용 펀치와 다이구멍의 각반지름 설계에 관한 연구 (Study on the design of punch and radius of die hole for rectangular shell drawing)

  • This paper describes $R_p,\;R_d,\;R_c,\;R_{cp},\;R_{cd}$ for design and manufacture of die by comparing the results. Results of this study could be reduced from three processes to two processes and drawing can be conducted using one die set by modifying structure of the punch head and die plate. Oil canning phenomenon can be prevented when circle blanking or ellipse blanking in blanking drawing. $R_c$, the important factor of drawing process was able to evaluate properly in designing of product.
