  • In this study, an influence of local variation of nanoparticulate volume fraction on the homogenized elastic properties is investigated. It is well known that interface effect is dependent on the radius and volume fraction of reinforced nanofillers. However, there is no study on the multiscale modeling and analysis of polymer nanocomposites including polydispersed nanoparticles with consideration of interphase zone, which is dependent on the volume fraction of corresponding nanoparticles. As results of numerical examples, it is confirmed that an influence of local variation of nanoparticulate volume fraction should be considered for non-dilute system such as cluster of nanoparticles. Therefore representative volume element analysis is conducted by considering local variation of nanoparticle volume fraction in order to analyze the practical size of cell including hundreds of nanoparticles. It is expected that this study could be extended to the multiparticulate nanocomposite systems including polydispersed nanoparticles.

  • To investigate the influences of the observational nudging and the analysis nudging on the WRF simulation for the heavy snowfall event in Yeongdong area on 26 February 2012, the sensitivity experiments in relation to nudging effects were conducted. We initially set the magnitude of nudging coefficient of $6.0{\times}10^{-4}s^{-1}$ to apply to the analysis nudging experiments and observational experiments. To select the optimized options for the observational nudging, the radius influence experiment was carried out with radii ranging from 10 to 25 km at 5 km intervals. Among the observational nudging experiments, the experiment, which was conducted with the option of the radius influence of 15 km and that of the nudging coefficient of $6.0{\times}10^{-4}s^{-1}$ (ONG exp.), showed a best result. As giving the nudging effect only directly on D1 and D2 brought about a better result for the analysis nudging, we set the analysis nudging experiment as above (ANG exp.). We compared and analyzed the results from the control experiment, ONG experiment, and ANG experiment to reveal nudging effects. It was found that the control experiment brought about a result that it overestimated its precipitation in comparison with the observation and failed to properly simulate the time zone of rainfall concentration. When either of the two nudging (observational and analysis nudging) was applied to the data assimilation, it brought about a better result than the control experiment. Especially the observational nudging led to a meaningful result for the wind field, while the analysis nudging had the best result for the precipitation distribution among the experiments.

  • An equation is developed to estimate potential groundwater resources available for development. This equation is useful for preliminary planning stages prior to detailed design stages. The equation is a function of major factors such as aquifer characteristics, saltwater intrusion length, coastal groundwater discharge and potential locations of pumping wells. Thus, most important factors are taken into account. The equations are derived using well-known analytical solutions. Thus, the basis is scientifically sound. Use of the equation is quite simple since it is an explicit function of variables. A logical method is proposed to assess a radius of influence of a pumping well considering aquifer characteristics and the pumping rate. Applications to a hypothetical problem and comparison with results from a more rigorous numerical simulation model indicate that results obtained from the proposed equation are conservative.

  • The analysis was carried out using the press molding analysis program by applying six parameters such as material type change, material thickness, friction coefficient, rp, rd and blank holder pressure. As a result of CAE analysis of the soft material DC04 and the relatively hard material HX300LAD, the thickness of the punch R part of the soft material was significantly reduced. The flange portion is greatly increased in thickness in the hard material by the compression action. As a result of considering the deformation amount of 0.6mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm according to the material thickness, the influence of the thickness is considered to be very small. In case of the material thickness of 0.6mm, the rate of change increases due to the deep drawing depth relative to the material thickness. The sizes of the punches R and die R have the greatest influence on the change in thickness of the material in drawing molding, the smaller the punch R, the thinner the edges of the product, The larger the R of the die, the greater the material thickness of the flange portion. As the coefficient of friction and the blank holder pressure increase, the frictional force of the flange portion increases, which increases the radial force in the drawing process and increases the thickness change of the flange portion.

  • The dependence of the ionic conductivity on the B-site ion substitution in (Li0.5La0.5)Ti1-xMxO3 (M=Sn, Zr, Mn, Ge) system has been studied. Same valence state and various electronic configuration and ionic radius of Sn4+, Zr4+, Mn4+ and Ge4+(4d10(0.69$\AA$), 4p6(0.72$\AA$), 3d10(0.54$\AA$) and 3d3(0.54$\AA$), respectively) induced the various crystallographic variaton with substitutions. So it was possibleto investigate the crystallographic factor which influence the ionic conduction by observing the dependence of the conductivity on the crystallographic factor which influence the ionic conduction by observing the dependence of the conductivity on the crystallographic variations. We found that the conductivity increased with decreasing the radii of B-site ions or vice versa and octahedron distortion disturb the ion conduction. The reason for this reciprocal proportion of conductivity on the radius of B-site ions has been examined on the base of the interatomic bond strength change due to the cation substitutions. The results were good in agreement with the experimental results. Therefore it could be concluded that the interatomic bond strength change due to the cation substitutions may be the one of major factors influencing the lithium ion conductivity in perovskite(Li0.5La0.5) TiO3system.

  • A new type of chemical oxidation technology utilizing micro bubble ozone oxidizer and a pneumatic fracturing equipment was developed to enhance field applicability of a traditional chemical oxidation technology using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer for in-situ soil remediation. To find an efficient way to dissolve gaseous ozone into hydrogen peroxide, ozone was injected into water as micro bubble form then dissolved ozone concentration and its duration time were measured compared to those of simple aeration of gaseous ozone. As a result, dissolved ozone concentration in water increased by 31% (1.6 ppm ${\rightarrow}$ 2.1 ppm) and elapsed time for which maximum ozone concentration decreased by half lengthened from 9 min to 33 min. When the developed pneumatic fracturing technology was applied in sandy loam, cracks were developed and grown in soil for 5~30 seconds so that the radius of influence got longer by 71% from 392 cm to 671 cm. The remediation system using the micro bubble ozone oxidizer and the pneumatic fracturing equipment for field application was made and demonstrated its remediation efficiency at petroleum contaminated site. The system showed enhanced remediation capacity than the traditional chemical oxidation technology using hydrogen peroxide with reduced remediation time by about 33%.

  • In this study, photochemical effects (OH radical formation) in the photoreactor was investigated to analyze UV-C intensity distribution. In addition, The influence radius of the UV-C lamp was measured at various dose of $TiO_2$ (Degussa P-25). The photoreactor used in this study was bath type reactor which is made by acrylic and the UV-C lamp (SANKYO DENKI, wavelength : 254 nm, Diameter : 2.2 cm, Length : 18.5 cm) was used as photo source. The maximum electric power consumption of the UV lamp was 10.5 W. The OH radical formation by UV-C was measured by KI dosimetry methods. From the results, the effective OH radical formation was occurred under the following condition. The reasonable distance of UV-C lamp is within 13 cm and the intensity of UV-C lamp should be more than 0.367 mW/$cm^2$. Moreover, the concentration of catalyst affects on the influence radius of the UV lamp.

  • In this study, the sensitivity analysis of hydraulic conductivity and separation distance (distance between injection well and pumping well) was analyzed by establishing a conceptual model considering the hydrogeologic characteristics of facility agricultural complex in Korea. In the conceptual model, natural characteristics (topography and geology, precipitation, hydraulic conductivity, etc.) and artificial characteristics (separation distance from injection well to pumping well, injection rate and pumping rate, etc.) is entered, and sensitivity analysis was performed 12 scenarios using a combination of hydraulic conductivity ($10^{-1}cm/sec$, $10^{-2}cm/sec$, $10^{-3}cm/sec$, $10^{-4}cm/sec$) and separation distance (10 m, 50 m, 100 m). Groundwater drawdown at the monitoring well was increased as the hydraulic conductivity decreased and the separation distance increased. From the regression analysis of groundwater drawdown as a hydraulic conductivity at the same separation distance, it was found that the groundwater level fluctuation of artificial recharge aquifer was dominantly influenced by hydraulic conductivity. In the condition that the hydraulic conductivity of artificial recharge aquifer was $10^{-2}cm/sec$ or more, the radius of influence of groundwater level was within 20 m, but In the condition that the hydraulic conductivity is $10^{-3}cm/sec$ or less, it is confirmed that the radius of influence of groundwater increases sharply as the separation distance increases.

  • We investigate the distribution of central spot and the encircled energy in order to assess the performance of central obstructed optical system having central obstruction, when the central obstruction and the degree of truncated Gaussian amplitude of incident beam change. When the radius of central obstruction increases the radius of central spot on the image plane decreases, and when the degree of truncated Gaussian amplitude of incident beam increases the radius of central spot on the image plane increases. As the central obstruction and the degree of truncated Gaussian amplitude of incident beam increase, the depth of focus increases and the encircled energy of central spot decreases. We know from theses results that the effect of Gaussian factor is small as the central obstruction increases. These results was applied to develope the large optical reflection system.

  • The measuring Method by stylus, which measures surface roughness, has been widely used since G. Schmaltz developed the first equipment of that type. Withe the resent development of the measuring method by stylus, surface foughness testing instruments of the very high magnification ratio, hundreds of thousands, are manu- factured. However, as the techniques of the high precision roughness measurement are being required, the response problems due to the tip shapes and the plastic deformations of measured surface of mild material are to be serious factors. In this study, diamond stylus of tip radius $0.5\mu\textrm{m}$, $2\mu\textrm{m}$, $5\mu\textrm{m}$ and $10\mu\textrm{m}$ were used under the measuring force of 0.01gf, 0.02gf, 0.07gf, 0.4gf and 1.6gf, and from the experimental data, maximum measured value devrements between $2\mu\textrm{mR}$ stylus and $5\mu\textrm{mR}$ stylus, $2\mu\textrm{mR}$ stylus and $10\mu\textrm{mR}$ stylus are 22% and 31%, respectively when the measured value of $2\mu\textrm{mR}$ stylus goes to $0.01\mu\textrm{m Ra}$, $\lambda$ c2.5mm. And it is shown that plastic deformations on the plastic deformations on the measured surface are proportional to W/R(W;measured force, R;stylus tip radius).
