  • According to the changes of the medical environment of the times, it is necessary to discuss the issues of the doctor's medical guidance and to conduct continuous research so that alternatives can be prepared systematically. Furthermore, in order to enhance the professionalism of radiological technologists and to develop the medical technician system, the new Radiological Technologist Independent Act has been established, which contains the overall contents of the scope of work, professional qualifications, and specialized education of radiological technologists, and provides quality medical services to patients through professional procedures and treatment. In order to increase the level of medical care, the purpose, definition, mission, role, and scope of work specified in the Medical Act, Medical Service Technologists, etc. Act, the Enforcement Decree, and the Enforcement Rules were variously analyzed and new directions were presented. First, the definition of a medical technician should use a generic term so that the factors of conflict and prejudice could be resolved. Second, change the doctor's guide to doctor's prescription; and then legislate the authority to sign and write medical records after examination by radiological technologists, thereby prohibiting unlicensed technicians that seriously endanger patient safety. Third, an accurate definition of radiological technologists' roles should be established; not only selection and management of radiological technologists' work but also procedures and treatment for each radiology field should be specified to suit the current medical system. Fourth, a professional radiological technologists' qualification system and a specialized education system should be established in order to secure human resources that could provide patients trust in procedures and treatment based on professional knowledge and experience in the field of radiology. Fifth, the Education and Evaluation Institute should be operated in Korea education system to educate the professional knowledge and competency for students. In addition, it is necessary to in-depth analysis of foreign cases could be applied to the medical system and education system in Korea; it could strive to nurture systematic human resources.

  • KIRAMS-13, the first medical cyclotron developed by domestic technique, is used to produce radio-isotope such as $^{18}F$ whose life time is relatively short through test operation. For high-power operation of charged particle accelerators, the power coupler must withstand enormous stresses due to charging induced by high RF power passing through. High-power RF testing with peak power in excess of 30kW has been performed on prototype power coupler for KIRAMS-13 normal conducting cavities. CST MICROWAVE STUDIO(CST MWS) is used for fundamental RF Design, and power coupler is manufactured according to fundamental power coupler design requisite. The qualification of the couplers has occurred for the time being only in a limited set of conditions as the available RF system and control instrumentation are under improvement.

  • International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) is an independent international organization that advances the science of radiological protection for the public benefit, particularly by providing recommendations and guidance on all aspects of protection against ionizing radiation. The ICRP is a community of more than 380 globally-recognized experts in radiological protection science, policy, and practice from more than 50 countries. As of January 2024, the ICRP is comprised of a Main Commission, the Scientific Secretariat, four Standing Committees, and 30 Task Groups under the four committees. The ICRP has released well over one hundred publications on all aspects of radiological protection. Most address a particular area within radiological protection, but a handful of the publications, the so-called fundamental recommendations, describe the overall system of radiological protection. The system for radiological protection is based on the current understanding of the science of radiation exposure and its effects along with value judgements. The ICRP offers recommendations to regulatory and advisory agencies and provides advice to management and professional staff with responsibilities for radiological protection. Legislation in most countries adheres closely to ICRP recommendations. The International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) International Basic Safety Standards are based heavily on ICRP recommendations. ICRP recommendations form the core of radiological protection standards, legislation, programs, and practice worldwide.

  • In this study, we investigated the differences in the perception of radiological technologists to identify the main contents to be reflected in the enacting of the radiological technologist act and the necessity of the radiological technologist act. In the results of perception surveys conducted on the subjects of radiological technologists about the enacting of the radiological technologist act, the priority over "Somewhat satisfied" is the enacting of the radiological technologist solo act (90.1%), and as for tasks of radiological technologists, there are legalization of contrast media injection (85.8%), legalization of medical radiation policy deliberative committee (85.8%), legalization of radiological technologist ethics committee (80.9%), legalization of Compulsory subscription (71.6%), etc. In the results of the perception survey for radiologists about the enactment of the radiological technologist act, the priority above "Neither satisfied nor dissatisfied" includes the enacting of the radiological technologist act (100%), legalization of medical radiation policy deliberative committee (97.1%), and legalization of radiological technologist ethics committee (95.1%), and as for the tasks of radiological technologists, there are legalization of "contrast media injection" (95.1%), and the necessity of Radiological Education and Evaluation (94.34), etc. The radiological technologist act is considered a top priority and there is a difference in importance according to the individual agenda. This can be used as a data to determine the logical basis and policy direction of the establishment of the radiological technologist act.
