  • The objective of this study is to characterize design parameters of rocket igniters for composite, double base and nitramine propellant. Arc image furnace and fiber optics surface reflectometer were used to measure ignition delay time and reflected optical energy of several compositions of composite, double base and nitramine base rocket propellant at different pressure levels each other. The order of ignitability was double base > composite > Nitramine propellants at initial pressure of over 75 psia. The highest ignition energy was needed to ignite nitramine propellant, however, as the pressure increased up to the range of $75{\sim}400$ psia as the ignition delay time decreased abruptly. The absorbtion of radiation energy could be increased by the addition of small amount of opacifiers as carbon black, ZrC, WC and burning catalyst.

  • After produce the extracted wood to silicic acid gel, sodium carbonate and silicon dioxide with application of the making method for carbon dioxide, ignition time, ignition temperature, mass loss rate and critical heat flux are measured according to external radiation source (20, 25, 35 and 50 $kW/m^2$). From the results, pressure impregnation wood to use with water glass and carbon dioxide has fire retardant performance at heat flux (less than 20 $kW/m^2$) of Pre-Flashover fires. If we find out the excellent maxing ratio through continuously study, it might be decided to be able to be utilized as fire-retardant wood.

  • Purpose: This study examined changes in the position of the heat and lungs depending on the patient's breathing method during left breast cancer radiotherapy and used treatment plans to compare the resulting radiation dose. Materials and methods: The participants consisted of 10 patients with left breast cancer. A CT simulator(SIMENS SOMATOM AS, Germany) was used to obtain images when using three different breathing methods: free breathing(FB), deep inspiration breath hold(DIBH with Abches, DIBH), inspiration breath hold(IBH with CPAP, CPAP). A Ray Station(5.0.2.35, Sweden) was used for treatment planning, the treatment method was volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) with one partial arc of the same angle, and the prescribed dose to the planning target volume (PTV) was a total dose of 50Gy(2Gy/day). In treatment plan analysis, the 95% dose (D95) to the PTV, the conformity index(CI), and the homogeneity index (HI) were compared. The lungs, heart, and left anterior descending artery (LAD) were selected as the organs at risk(OARs). Results: The mean volume of the ipsilateral lung for FB, DIBH, and CPAP was 1245.58±301.31㎤, 1790.09±362.43 ㎤, 1775.44±476.71 ㎤. The mean D95 for the PTV was 46.67±1.89Gy, 46.85±1.72Gy, 46.97±23.4Gy, and the mean CI and HI were 0.95±0.02, 0.96±0.02, 0.95±0.02 and 0.91±0.01, 0.90±0.01, 0.92±0.02. The V20 of Whole Lung was 10.74±4.50%, 8.29±3.14%, 9.12±3.29% and The V20 of the ipsilateral lung was 20.45±8.65%, 17.18±7.04%, 18.85±7.85%, the Dmean of the heart was 7.82±1.27Gy, 6.10±1.27Gy, 5.67±1.56Gy, and the Dmax of the LAD was 20.41±7.56Gy, 14.88±3.57Gy, 14.96±2.81Gy. The distance from the thoracic wall to the LAD was measured to be 11.33±4.70mm, 22.40±6.01mm, 20.14±6.23mm. Conclusion: During left breast cancer radiotherapy, the lung volume was 46.24% larger for DIBH than for FB, and 43.11% larger for CPAP than FB. The larger lung volume increases the distance between the thoracic wall and the heart. In this way, the LAD, which is one of the nearby OARs, can be more effectively protected while still satisfying the treatment plan. The lung volume was largest for DIBH, and the distance between the LAD and thoracic wall was also the greatest. However, when performing treatment with DIBH, the intra-fraction error cannot be ignored. Moreover, communication between the patient and the radiotherapist is also an important factor in DIBH treatment. When communication is problematic, or if the patient has difficulty holding their breath, we believe that CPAP could be used as an alternative to DIBH. In order to verify the clinical efficacy of CPAP, it will be necessary to perform long-term follow-up of a greater number of patients.

  • In order to investigate the radiation of sound from the King Song-Duk bell, we measured the sound pressure around the bell at every 30$^{\circ}$ using a microphone line array which was composed of 30 microphones separated by 15cm;total number of measurement point was 360. The sound field was estimated by using cylindrical acoustic holography. The spectrum of measured sound pressure demonstrates that it is almost like white noise in the very beginning, but in 10 seconds two close frequency components(64.06Hz, 64.38Hz) remain and make a famous beating. This beating sound is often believed to make unique sound of the King Song-Duk bell. The mode shapes of that frequency components are the same except that one is rotated by 45$^{\circ}$ from the other. This phenomenon occurs at the other pairs of components are the same except ones in very high frequency range where the mode shapes are rather complex.

  • Anatase $TiO_2$thin films as a photocatalyst were prepared by the reactive magnetron sputtering process. The $TiO_2$thin films were deposited on Si substrates under the various conditions : oxygen partial pressure, working pressure, sputtering time, and D.C. power. The photocatalystic degradation of $TiO_2$thin film have been studied to examine the contribution of surface morphology and crystallinity. The thin films with a good crystallinity or a rough surface showed a high photocatalytic degradation rate on phenol and E.coli 078 experiment. Compared with that of only UV radiation, the photocatalytic efficiency of $TiO_2$thin film under the UV radiation and the $O_2$ flow increased. We found that the crystallity and the morphology were the important factors on the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO$_2$thin film.

  • In this study, vibrations and resulting acoustic radiations from an elastic beam impacted by a steel ball were studied theoretically and experimentally. First the transverse vibrations of free-free elastic beams are analysed with modal analysis technique. The impact forces are modeled with the Hertz's theory and the contanct duration is compared with the measured values. Also the calculated beam vibrations are verified with the experimental results. Then the acoustic radiations due to the beam vibration are studied numberically and experimentally. The acousticpressure is calculated assuming the beam has an elliptical cross-section. The predicted acoustic pressure is compared with the measured value. It was found that both the predicted beamvibrations using the Hertz's theory and the estimated acoustic pressure under the assumption of an elliptical cross- section are in very good agreements with the measured values.

  • The incidence of chronic disease is continuously increasing in Korea. Especially, office workers have higher risk of chronic disease because of their dietary habit and lifestyle. The study aimed to investigate the effect of tailored nutrition counseling on improving chronic disease risk factors. Ninety-nine male workers (age $46.9{\pm}7.0$ yrs) volunteered for 12 weeks of nutrition program containing dietary intake and physical activity adjustment. Five individualized programs were performed with the main theme of weight loss (WL, n = 16), blood pressure lowering (BL, n = 34), normalizing blood glucose (GL, n = 21), lipid lowering (LL, n = 13) and reducing MS risk factors (ML, n = 15). Anthropometric data, blood-pressure, self-reported questionnaire, blood profiles were measured before and after 12weeks of nutrition education. The education program included 5 times of 1:1 interview. Compared to 0 week, anthropometric data (weight, BMI, fat, visceral fat, waist, SBP, DBP) were significantly decreased after 12 weeks (p < 0.001). Fasting blood glucose and total cholesterol were decreased (p < 0.05). The primary outcomes with individually tailored programs showed to be more effective than one general nutrition program.

  • Irradiation behavior of the reactor pressure vessel SA508 class 3 steel weld metals was examined by Charpy V Notch impact specimens. The specimens were exposed to a fluence of $2.8{\times}1019$ neutrons(n)/$cm^2$(E>1 MeV) at $288^{\circ}C$. The irradiation damage of weld metal was evaluated by comparison between unirradiated and irradiated specimens in terms of absorbed energy and lateral expansion. The specimens for neutron irradiation were welded by submerged arc welding process at a heat input of 3.2 kJ/mm which showed good toughness in terms of weld microstructure, absorbed energy and lateral expansion. The post-irradiation Charpy V notch 41J and 68J transition temperature elevation were $65^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$, respectively. This elevation was accompanied by a 20% reduction in Charpy V notch upper shelf energy level. The lateral expansion at 0.9mm irradiated Charpy specimens showed temperature elevation of $65^{\circ}C$ and was greatly decreased due to radiation damage.
