The analysis of the radiation effect on matter has been performed using stochastic methods. Recently, It was discovered that the detector pulses of radiation can be analysed using deterministic method that utilizes the chaotic behaviour with an attractor found in a noise region. We acquired a time series for pulse tram of Am-241 using scintillation detector and reconstructed a phase space, then performed new analysis for the radiation detection signal by applying embedding theory, Lyapunov exponent, correlation dimension, autocorrelation dimension, and power spectrum.
As the radiological medical instruments have been competitively developed in recent years, its utilization for the patient treatment has been expanded. The medical examination using the radiation has been gradually increased, so that it is recognized as a significant factor of increasing the radiation exposure. In this study, the recognition about the radiation exposure was analyzed for 555 gynecologic patients in 8 secondary and tertiary medical centers in Gyeongbuk from November 17 to April 19, 2007. The results are followed. There was a significant difference on the recognition for the radiation by age and education (p<0.05), There was the significant difference in the recognition about the radiological instruments by age and occupation (p<0.05), and there was the significant difference in the information identification & analysis by age and occupation (p<0.05). As the result of analyzing a correlation of the radiation's harmfulness, recognition, psychological state and exposure prevention, there was the correlation of 0.572 between the harmfulness and recognition, the correlation of 0.740 between the harmfulness and the psychological state, and the correlation of 0.477 between the harmfulness and the exposure prevention. It was statistically very significant (p<0.01). But, there was no significance with the radiological instrument and information identification (p>0.05). As the result of the study, it could be known that the mental threat factor was more included than the physical threat from the position of gynecologic patients who were sensitive to the radiation. Accordingly, radiological technologist who manages the radiation needs to let the patient or its guardians recognize the degree of physical harmfulness exactly.
In apartment buildings, floor-impact sound has been regarded as the major source that causes complaints from residents. It is mainly due to the use of light-weight structures and the lack of researches in terms of floor-impact sound. The purposes of this study are analyzing the characteristics of vibration response and sound radiation of 12type void slabs in the improvements void slab by impedance method and finding the fittest improvements void slab on the 12type void slab. The main results of this study are summarized as below: (1) In the $\frac{1}{3}$ octave band level of sound radiation, $\frac{1}{3}$ octave band levels, measured from four-divided improvement void slab(No.8) and eight-divided improvement void slab(No.12), are 10~25 dB lower than that of standard void slab(No.1) in the 1250 Hz. Especially, eight-divided improvement void slab(No.12) is the best void slab in terms of radiation efficiency of sound level. (2) In the correlation relation of acceleration and sound radiation, standard void slab(No.1), four-divided improvement void slab(No.8), SK standard four-hole void slab(No.10), and eight-divided improvement void slab(No.12) are positive correlation relation.
Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the change in the lumpectomy cavity volumes before and after whole breast radiation therapy (WBRT) and to identify factors associated with the change of volume. Materials and Methods: From September 2009 to April 2010, the computed tomography (CT) simulation data from 70 patients obtained before and after WBRT was evaluated. The lumpectomy cavity volumes were contoured based on surgical clips, seroma, and postoperative changes. Significant differences in the data from pre-WBRT CT and post-WBRT CT were assessed. Multiple variables were examined for correlation with volume reduction in the lumpectomy cavity. Results: The mean and median volume reduction in the lumpectomy cavity after WBRT were 17.6 $cm^3$ and 16.1 $cm^3$, respectively with the statistical significance (p < 0.001). The volume reduction in the lumpectomy cavity was inversely correlated with time from surgery to radiation therapy (R = 0.390). The presence of seroma was significantly associated with a volumetric change in the lumpectomy cavity after WBRT (p = 0.011). Conclusion: The volume of lumpectomy cavity reduced significantly after WBRT. As the time from surgery to the start ot WBRT increased, the volume reduction in the lumpectomy cavity during WBRT decreased. A strong correlation was observed between the presence of seroma and the reduced volume. To ensure appropriate coverage and to limit normal tissue exposure during boost irradiation in patients who has seroma at the time of starting WBRT, repeating CT simulation at boost planning is suggested.

Purpose: Machine Performance Check (MPC) is a self-checking software based on the Electronic Portal Imaging Device (EPID) to measure daily beam outputs without external installation. The purpose of this study is to verify the usefulness of MPC by comparing and correlating daily beam output of QA Beamchecker PLUS. Materials and Methods: Linear accelerator (Truebeam 2.5) was used to measure 10 energies which are composed of photon beams(6, 10, 15 MV and 6, 10 MV-FFF) and electron beams(6, 9, 12, 16 and 20 MeV). A total of 80 cycles of data was obtained by measuring beam output measurement before treatment over five months period. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the consistency of the beam output between the MPC and the QA Beamchecker PLUS. In this study, if the Pearson correlation coefficient is; (1) 0.8 or higher, the correlation is very strong (2) between 0.6 and 0.79, the correlation is strong (3) between 0.4 and 0.59, the correlation is moderate (4) between 0.2 and 0.39, the correlation is weak (5) lower than 0.2, the correlation is very weak. Results: Output variations observed between MPC and QA Beamchecker PLUS were within 2 % for photons and electrons. The beam outputs variations of MPC were $0.29{\pm}0.26%$ and $0.30{\pm}0.26%$ for photon and electron beams, respectively. QA Beamchecker PLUS beam outputs were $0.31{\pm}0.24%$ and $0.33{\pm}0.24%$ for photon and electron beams, respectively. The Pearson correlation coefficient between MPC and QA Beamchecker PLUS indicated that photon beams were very strong at 15 MV, and strong at 6 MV, 10 MV, 6 MV-FFF and 10 MV-FFF. For electron beams, the Pearson correlation coefficient were strong at 16 MeV and 20 MeV, moderate at 9 MeV and 12 MeV, and very weak at 6 MeV. Conclusion: MPC showed significantly strong correlation with QA Beamchecker PLUS when testing with photon beams and high-energy electron beams in the evaluation of daily beam output, but the correlation when testing with low-energy electron beams (6 MeV) appeared to be low. However, MPC and QA Beamchecker PLUS are considered to be suitable for checking daily beam output, as they performed within 2 % of beam output consistency during the observation. MPC which can perform faster than the conventional daily beam output measurement tool, is considered to be an effective method for users.

Purpose: To evaluate the prognostic value of preoperative neck lymph node (LN) assessment with $^{18}F$-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography ($^{18}F$-FDG PET), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) patients with pathologically positive LN. Materials and Methods: In total, 47 OSCC patients with pathologically positive LN were retrospectively reviewed with preoperative $^{18}F$-FDG PET and CT/MRI. All patients underwent surgical resection, neck dissection and postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy between March 2002 and October 2010. Histologic correlation was performed for findings of $^{18}F$-FDG PET and CT/MRI. Results: Thirty-six (76.6%) of 47 cases were correctly diagnosed with neck LN metastasis by $^{18}F$-FDG PET and 32 (68.1%) of 47 cases were correctly diagnosed by CT/MRI. Follow-up ranged from 20 to 114 months (median, 56 months). Clinically negative nodal status evaluated by $^{18}F$-FDG PET or CT/MRI revealed a trend toward better clinical outcomes in terms of overall survival, disease-free survival, local recurrence-free survival, regional nodal recurrence-free survival, and distant metastasis-free survival rates even though the trends were not statistically significant. However, there was no impact of neck node standardized uptake value ($SUV_{max}$) on clinical outcomes. Notably, $SUV_{max}$ showed significant correlation with tumor size in LN (p < 0.01, $R^2$ = 0.62). PET and CT/MRI status of LN also had significant correlation with the size of intranodal tumor deposit (p < 0.05, $R^2$ = 0.37 and p < 0.01, $R^2$ = 0.48, respectively). Conclusion: $^{18}F$-FDG PET and CT/MRI at the neck LNs might improve risk stratification in OSCC patients with pathologically positive neck LN in this study, even without significant prognostic value of $SUV_{max}$.

I. Purpose This study is performed to encourage cancer patients to identify, relieve and effectively overcome the stress caused by radiotherapy, by analyzing stress reactions and coping patterns of cancer patients who perceived stress due to radiotherapy. II. Materials & Methods The study group was composed of 85 cancer patients of the age 20 or higher who were undergoing radiotherapy in four hospitals located in Seoul and Kyonggi-do. The survey questionnaire was used, which had 161 questions inquiring respondents of general status, perceived stress, stress reactions and coping patterns. The surveyed data were analyzed by a SAS program, which employed descriptive statistics. Pearson Correlation Coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and Stepwised Multiple Regression. III. Results The stress perception and reaction rates were low in cancer patients comparing to patients of the other study. In the coping patterns. the problem-focused coping patterns were significantly higher than emotion-focused coping patterns. The statistically meaningful differences were observed in the stress perception and reactions depending on the time of diagnosis and perceived health level. As for the problem-focused coping patterns, significant differences were found depending on age, marital status, education, income and the number of family members as well as perceived health level of patients. The level of perceived stress and that of stress reactions was found to have positively significant correlation(r=.764, p<.001) while the perceived stress and the problem-focused coping patterns was correlated negatively (r=-.288, p<.01). The stress reactions and the problem-focused coping patterns was found to have negatively significant correlation(r=-.289, p<.01). IV. Conclusion The problem-focused coping behavior, which cooperated with doctors, technologists, nurses and families of cancer patients, is advisable for the cancer patients to overcome uncertainty and uneasiness by effectively release the stress.
This research, which was conducted for student at department of dental hygiene, intended to measure the level of self-efficacy and consciousness on the use of radiation, knowledge and attitude on radiation safety management and got the following conclusions. This study was performed from May 8 to July 7, 2011 for 326 students who study at Department of Dental Hygiene of a three-year course in Busan areas. The result of as follows; 1. As a result of comparing the average of a sense of self-efficacy according to the characteristics of those surveyed, a statistically significant difference(p<0.01)(p<0.001) was found according to grade point average, subjective health condition. 2. As a result of comparing the average level of consciousness about radiation use according to the characteristics of those surveyed, a statistically meaningful difference(p<0.05)(p<0.01) was found according to grade, grade point average. 3. As a result of conducting a correlation analysis among self-efficacy, consciousness on the use of radiation, knowledge and attitude on RSM, the correlation of self-efficacy and consciousness, knowledge, and attitude was r=0.108, 0.203, 0.231 respectively, all of which was a plus correlation(p<0.01). we believe that a variety of programs should be offered to be capable of enhancing knowledge and attitude on RSM, self-efficacy.

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) is a promising biomass crop with a high lignocellulose content. This study aimed to select high salt-tolerance sorghum lines for cultivation on reclaimed land. Using 7-day seedlings of the sorghum population consisted of 71 radiation-derived mutants (M2 to M6) and 33 genetic resources, survival rate (SR), plant height (PH), root length (RL), fresh weight (FW), and chlorophyll content (CC) were measured for two weeks after 102 mM (0.6%) NaCl treatment. Furthermore, the characteristics of the sorghum population were confirmed using correlation analysis, PCA (principal component analysis), and the FCE (fuzzy comprehensive evaluation) method. Under 102 mM NaCl conditions, SR ranged from 4.9 (IS645-200-6) to 82.4% (KLSo79125-200-1), with an average of 49.9%. PH varied from 7.5 (Mesusu-100-2) to 33.2 cm (DINE-A-MITE-100-2-10), with an average of 20.4 cm. RL ranged from 1.0 (IS645-200-1) to 17.0 cm (30-100-2), with an average of 7.7 cm. FW varied from 0.1 (IS645-200-6) to 4.5 g/plant (DINE-A-MITE-100-2-10), with an average of 2.1 g/plant. CC ranged from 0.9 (DINE-A-MITE-100-2-2) to 3.1 mg/g (IS12937), with an average of 1.7 mg/g. An overall positive correlation, with SR and FW (r = 0.86, P < 0.01), and FW and CC (r = 0.79, P < 0.01), was shown by correlation analysis. Among the five traits, two principal components were extracted by PCA analysis. PC1 was significantly associated with FW, while PC2 was highly involved with RL. To evaluate the salt tolerance level of the sorghum population when an FCE based on trait data was performed, MFV (membership function value) was 0.68. As a result of compiling the MFV of each line, eight lines with MFV > 0.68 were selected. Ultimately, the radiation-derived mutant lines, DINE-A-MITE-100-2-10 and DINE-A-MITE-100-2-12 were selected as salt-tolerant sorghum lines. The results are expected to inform salt-tolerant sorghum breeding programs, and the high salt-tolerance sorghum lines might be advantageous for cultivation on reclaimed land.

It was neede to know the amount of PAR to predict the growth of crops, and the quantity of total radiation to control the temperature by shading screen in the greenhouse. Experiments have been conducted to determine the correlation between the hourly PAR and total solar radiation the transmisson of PAR and total solar radiaiton oat canopy location, and the relationship between the illuminaance and total solar radiation. Additional experiments are needed to confirm thses experimental results.
