Waste Thermal Pyrolysis Melting process was proposed and has been studied in order to prevent air pollution by dioxin and fly ash generated from combustion process for disposal of waste. In this study, applicability as the fuel of diffusion burner of synthesis gas formed from Waste Thermal Pyrolysis process was addressed. Results showed that there is no big difference in the flame shape between MNDF and SNDF, and lift off was detected in MIDF but flame is more stable in SIDF which contains hydrogen with high combustion velocity as flow rate in first nozzle is increased. And radiation heat flux in inverse diffusion flame of synthesis gas was found to be more by 1.5 times than that in inverse diffusion flame of methane because of higher mole fraction of $CO_2$ with high emissivity in product gas.
Here we evaluated the effect of using water retentive pavement or WRP made from fly ash as material for main street in a real city block. We coupled computational fluid dynamics and pavement transport (CFD-PT) model to examine energy balance in the building canopies and ground surface. Two cases of 24 h unsteady analysis were simulated: case 1 where asphalt was used as the pavement material of all ground surfaces and case 2 where WRP was used as main street material. We aim to (1) predict diurnal variation in air temperature, wind speed, ground surface temperature and water content; and (2) compare ground surface energy fluxes. Using the coupled CFD-PT model it was proven that WRP as pavement material for main street can cause a decrease in ground surface temperature. The most significant decrease occurred at 1200 JST when solar radiation was most intense, surface temperature decreased by $13.8^{\circ}C$. This surface temperature decrease also led to cooling of air temperature at 1.5 m above street surface. During this time, air temperature in case 2 decreased by $0.28^{\circ}C$. As the radiation weakens from 1600 JST to 2000 JST, evaporative cooling had also been minimal. Shadow effect, higher albedo and lower thermal conductivity of WRP also contributed to surface temperature decrease. The cooling of ground surface eventually led to air temperature decrease. The degree of air temperature decrease was proportional to the surface temperature decrease. In terms of energy balance, WRP caused a maximum increase in latent heat flux by up to $255W/m^2$ and a decrease in sensible heat flux by up to $465W/m^2$.
In the coastal region air flow changes due to the abrupt change of surface temperature between land and sea. So a numerical simulation for atmospheric flow fields must be considered the correct fields of sea surface temperature(SST). In this study, we used variables such as latent heat flux, sensible heat flux, short and long wave radiation of ocean and atmosphere which exchanged across the sea surface between atmosphere and ocean model. We found that this consideration simulated the more precise SST fields by comparing with those of the observated results. Simulated horizontal SST differences in season were 2.5~4$^{\circ}C$. Therefore we simulated the more precise atmospheric flow fields and the movement and dispersion of the pollutants with the Lagrangian particle dispersion model. In the daytime dispersion pattern of the pollutants emitted from ship sources moved toward inland, in the night time moved toward sea by land/sea breeze criculation. But air pollutants dispersion can be affected by inland topography, especially Yangsan and coastal area because of nocturnal wind speed decrease.
The bending vibration and thermal flutter instability of spacecraft booms modeled as circular thin-walled beams of closed cross-section and subjected to thermal radiation loading is investigated in this paper. Thermally induced vibration response characteristics of a composite thin walled beam exhibiting the circumferantially uniform system(CUS) configuration are exploited in connection with the structural flapwise bending-lagwise bending coupling resulting from directional properties of fiber reinforced composite materials and from ply stacking sequence. The numerical simulations display deflection time-history as a function of the ply-angle of fibers of the composite materials, damping factor, incident angle of solar heat flux, as well as the boundary of the thermal flutter instability domain. The adaptive control are provided by a system of piezoelectric devices whose sensing and actuating functions are combined and that an bonded or embedded into the host structure.
During combustion process in a diesel engine radiation heat transfer is the same order of magnitude as the convection heat transfer. An approximation of heat and momentum source distributions is applied at a level consistent with those used in modelling the soot distribution and the turbulence instead of modelling the fuel spray and the chemical kinetics. This paper illustrates a use of the third order spherical harmonics approximation to the radiative transfer equation and delta-Eddington approximation to the scattering phase function for droplets in the flow. Results are obtained numerically by a time marching finite difference scheme. This study aims to compare heat transfer with convection heat transfer and to investigate the importance of scattering by fuel droplets and of accounting for spatial variations in the extinction coefficient on the radiative heat flux distributions at the walls of a disc shaped diesel engine.
This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation for the effect of radiant heat on the evaporation cooling of water droplet in the process of fire extinguishing. The experiments are mainly focused on the surface temperature, the surface roughness and the droplet diameter. The range of surface temperature is T$_{s}$ =80-14$0^{\circ}C$, surface roughness is R$_{a}$=0.08-0.64 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and the droplet diameter is $\Phi$=3.0 mm in the radiation. The results show that the evaporation time is shorter for the larger surface roughness and the volume of droplet increased when the surface roughness is 0.64 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ at the surface temperature 127$^{\circ}C$. When the surface roughness is 0.64 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, the heat flux is larger than the surface roughness is 0.08 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ at the surface temperature 81$^{\circ}C$.>.>.
4-panel of 1m height and 45cm width were fixed on the $40cm{\times}40cm$ bottom plate and the opening of the panel comer was 5cm. Diameter of stainless vessel is loom and its height is 2cm and it located at the center of the bottom plate. 78mL liquid fuel was filled in the vessel and its depth was 1cm. Flame temperature was measured with K type thermocouple, and radiation heat of flame was measured with heat flux meter. Flame height and its behavior was visualized with video camera. and mass burning rate was measured by fuel combustion time. According to the development of fire, flame swirling was begin. From the experiment the mass burning rate was larger and the height of flame was higher than the usual pool fire flame. Flame temperature and heat flux also increased far more than the pool fire. Consequently the swirling air flow through the openings between the panel and thermal buoyance contribute to increase of heat release rate, flame length and mass burning rate.

The radiative heat transfer analysis in particle layer has an inherent difficulty in treating the governing integro-differential equations, which are derived from the remote effects. Most of the existing analyses are limited to the one dimensional system, taking into account only absorption or isotropic scatting of solid particles. Fortunately, a new Monte Carlo Simulation method is recently developed to analyse multidimensional radiative heat transfer in particles with anisotropically scatting. By this method, the present study analyses the radiative heat transfer in dispersed particles through the numerous droplets in the liquid droplet radiator to develop a technique of liquid droplet radiator. Consequently, knows that the radiative heat flux in particle layer is influenced by exitinction coefficient, optical thickness and surface area of particles in the system.
A characteristic of discharge for a foam spray nozzle with various parameters was investigated. The discharge patterns from a fire foam spray nozzle are important to evenly spray over a maximum possible floor area. Two parameters of a foam spray nozzle were chosen, and compared with those from the standard one. Also, in order to evaluate the performance of discharged foam agents used to protect structures from heat and fire damages, the thermal characteristics of fire-protection foams were experimentally investigated. A simple repeatable test for fire-protection foams subjected to fire radiation was developed. This test involves foam generation equipment, a fire source for heat generation, and data acquisition techniques. Results show that the bubble size of foam is increased by large inside diameter of orifice or closed air hole, but phenomenon of discharge angle and expansion ratio is opposite. For the case of the open air hole, liquid film of a circular cone discharges with formation, growth, split and fine grain. In case of the closed air hole, a pillar of foam solution discharges with that. Though the temperature gradient in the foam increases with increased foam expansion ratio. it is not change with increased intensity of heat flux.
A Jump model was evaluated for the calculation of hourly mixing height and mean potential temperature within the height. The Sump model was modified for estimation of downward heat fluxes by mechanical convections and surface heat fluxes. The surface heat fluxes were estimated from routine weather data such as solar radiation and air temperature. Total of 8 upper-air data observed at 0000UTC and 0600UTC in Osan station during April 23 to 26, 1996 were analyzed, and compared to the model results in detail. The calculated mixing heights and potential temperatures within the height were comparable to the observations, but some differences were showed. The calculated mixing heights were generally higher than observations. And, when variations of wind directions were large, the large difference of potential temperature was occurred. From the results, it was important to note that vortical motions and advections of air masses would affect to the growth of the mixing height.
