Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the delayed luminescence-biophoton emission from roots of Angelica gigas N., Angelica sinensis D., and Angelica acutiloba K These three species of Genus Angelica are now used as 'Danggui' in Traditional Korean Medicine. Methods : Randomly selected samples from roots of Angelica gigas N., Angelica sinensis D., and Angelica acutiloba K were radiated with 150 W metal halide lamp for 1 minute. After radiation, biophoton emissions of each sample were detected by electron multiplication-charge coupled device camera. The detected biophoton image was calculated with unit of counts per pixel. Results : The average and maximum biophoton emissions of delayed luminescence with electron multiplication ratio of ${\times}150$ and ${\times}250$were distinguished significantly between Angelica gigas N. and the other two species. Conclusions : These results suggest that biophoton imaging of roots of Angelica gigas N., Angelica sinensis D., and Angelica acutiloba K. could become the meaningful method for the study of differentiation between root of Angelica gigas N. and the other two species, Angelica sinensis D. and Angelica acutiloba K.

In this paper, a modified elliptical lens antenna design is proposed to improve the performance of 100 GHz mini-lens antennas used in the ECEI(Electron Cyclotron Emission Imaging) module at KSTAR. A hemispherical lens is added on the bottom plate of the conventional elliptic lens antenna, and a 100 GHz dipole antenna is located on the end point of the hemispherical lens. Using geometrical optics, antenna radiated EM fields are designed to be totally reflected from the inner surface of the hemispherical lens, and thereby the antenna patterns are more focused toward the main beam. The validity of the proposed design is confirmed by the 3D EM simulator. The modified elliptical lens antenna provides 23.8 dB maximum gain, which is 2.2 dB gain improvement as compared with the conventional elliptic lens. Also, the side love levels of E- and H-planes are decreased by 2.6 dB and 3.4 dB, respectively.
This paper proposes an EMC-aware PCB design method to reduce electromagnetic emission, where trace length and teturn path of critical signal are shortened by changing chip location and trace layout on the PCB, while additional filters or decoupling capacitors are not required. In the proposed method, signal velocity is calculated for various signals on the PCB. Critical signal with the fastest signal velocity is determined and its return path is shortened as much as possible by placing chip location and trace routing first. Return path of critical signal should be carefully designed not to have discontinuity. Power plane and ground plane should be carefully designed not to be divided, since these planes are the reference of return path. The proposed method was applied to automotive directional Bluetooth speaker which failed to pass CISPR 32 and CISPR 25 EMC tests. Its PCB was redesigned based on the proposed method and it easily passed the EMC tests. The proposed method is useful to EMC-sensitive electronic equipments.

Radio equipment for maritime service and navigation aids installed on fishing vessels are required to comply with the performance standards KN60945_60533 that apply IEC 60945. The LTE-M transceiver was excluded from the target because it did not belong to the radio equipment of the ship station, and it acted as a cause of audible noise in the radio equipment for maritime service installed in the fishing vessel due to interference by radiated emission or conducted emission. In this paper, we analyze the impact of interference based on related cases and present institutional solutions for the diversification of LTE-M.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are attractive material because of their superior electrical, mechanical, and chemical properties. Furthermore, their geometric features such as a large aspect ratio and a small radius of curvature at tip make them ideal for low-voltage field emission devices including backlight units of liquid crystal display, lighting lamps, X-ray source, microwave amplifiers, electron microscopes, etc. In field emission devices for display applications, the phosphor anode is positioned against the CNT emitters. In most case, light generated from the phosphor by electron bombardment passes through the anode front plate to reach observers. However, light is produced in a narrow depth of the surface of the phosphor layer because phosphor particles are big as much as several micrometers, which means that it is necessary to transmit through the phosphor layer. Hence, a drop of light intensity is unavoidable during this process. In this study, we fabricated a transparent cathode back plate by depositing an ultra-thin film of single walled CNTs (SWCNTs) on an indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass substrate. Two types of phosphor anode plates were employed to our transparent cathode back plate: One is an ITO glass substrate with a phosphor layer and the other is a Cr-coated glass substrate with phosphor layer. For the former case, light was radiated from both the front and the back sides, where luminance on the back was ~30% higher than that on the front in our experiments. For the other case, however, light was emitted only from the cathode back side as the Cr layer on the anode glass rolled as a reflecting mirror, improving the light luminance as much as ~60% compared with that on the front of one. This study seems to be discussed about the morphologies and field emission characteristics of CNT emitters according to the experimental parameters in fabricating the lamps emitting light on the both sides or only on the cathode back side. The experimental procedures are as follows. First, a CNT aqueous solution was prepared by ultrasonically dispersing purified SWCNTs in deionized water with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). A milliliter or even several tens of micro-liters of CNT solution was deposited onto a porous alumina membrane through vacuum filtration. Thereafter, the alumina membrane was solvated with the 3 M NaOH solution and the floating CNT film was easily transferred to an ITO glass substrate. It is required for CNT film to make standing CNTs up to serve as electron emitter through an adhesive roller activation.
This paper presents a high-frequency ZVS-PWM boost chopper-fed DC-DC converter with a single active auxiliary edge resonant snubber in the load-side which can be designed for power conditioners such as solar photovoltaic generation, fuel cell generation, battery and super capacitor energy storages. Its principle operation in steady-state is described in addition to a prototype setup. The experimental results of ZVS-PWM boost chopper-fed DC-DC converter proposed here, are evaluated and verified with a practical design model in terms of its switching voltage and current waveforms, the switching v-i trajectory, the temperature performance of IGBT module, the actual power conversion efficiency and the EMI of radiated and conducted emissions. And then discussed and compared with the hard switching scheme from an experimental point of view. Finally, this paper proposes a practical method to suppress parasitic oscillation due to the active auxiliary resonant switch at ZCS turn off mode transition with the aid of an additional lossless clamping diode loop, and reduced the EMI conducted emission in this paper.

A test facility which can simultaneously measure turbocharger operating condition variables and vibro-acoustic emission in the situations that are quite similar to real internal combustion engine operating conditions has been introduced. Using this facility, a new method sweeping from full open throttle to deep surge region along constant speed curves can be utilized instead of the stationary method that has been traditionally used to obtain turbocharger compressor maps. Data covering an extensive range of the compressor performance map have been collected and analyzed. An experimental study is performed to define a noise diagram that correlates vibro-acoustic measurements to aerothermodynamic operating conditions. An instrumentation set in the facility allows the automatic definition of the operating point on the turbine and compressor map of the turbocharger. Also, radiated sound pressure and casing vibration data corresponding to the point are obtained by a microphone in the vicinity of the compressor casing and an accelerometer on the casing. The major source(s) of noise at specific operating point on the map can be easily identified with these maps. Also, acoustic characteristics of a given turbocharger at the vicinity of the surge as well as in the surge are also defined. Finally, the possibility to define mild surge region of a turbocharger using vibro-acoustic measurements is studied.

This paper discusses the efficient high fidelity calculation of external thermal loads of a spacecraft on its orbit. Thermal loads to a spacecraft consist of three major components, direct solar radiation, earth reflection of solar rays, and earth irradiation. With the assumption that both earth reflection and earth emission are diffuse, thermal loads from earth surface divided into pieces of segments to satellite surfaces are individually calculated and summed over. By using analytical integration of both reflected and emitted heat load by earth, high rate of numerical convergence is achieved and the results are even exactly calculated in special cases. Moreover, KD tree ray tracing is employed in the calculation of thermal load to determine whether the radiated ray is obstructed or not by satellite structure.
We investigated visible light radiated from Plasma focus device by time-resolved analyzed method and time-integrated analyzed method. Plasma focus consisted of two coaxial electrodes is a device that translated from electric energy of maximum 40 kV/20 kJ in capacitor banks into visible light by electric discharge. Spectral analysis is using Monochromator(f =0.5m). Time-resolved spectrum is analyzed with a oscilloscope the light pulse of constant wavelength and time-integrated spectrum does with densitometer the film which developed a constant range of wavelength. The optimum condition of visible emission was that the discharging voltage was 17kV and the gas pressure 0.5 torr Ar.
