  • Two-dimensional, angle-resolved LDV(Laser Doppler Velocimetry) measurements of the turbulent rotating flow field in a confined cylinder have been performed. The configurations of interest are flows between a rotating upper disk with a rod attached by a disk or impeller(${\theta}= 90^{\circ},\;45^{\circ}$) and a stationary lower disk in a confined cylinder. The mean flow velocity as well as the turbulent intensity of the flow field have been measured. The results show that the flow is strongly dependent on the position of the impellers or the disk, negligibly affected by the Reynolds number in turbulent flow. It is observed that the mixing effect of the axial flow impeller(${\theta}= 45^{\circ}$) is better than that of the radial flow impeller(${\theta}= 90^{\circ}$) or a disk.

  • This paper is intended to analyze the macroscopic behavior and transient atomization characteristics of the high-pressure gasoline injector in direct-injection gasoline engine. The global spray behavior of fuel injector was visualized by shadowgraph technique. Time-resolved droplet axial and radial velocity components and droplet diameter were measured at many probe positions in both axial and radial directions by a two-component phase Doppler particle analyzer (PDPA). In order to obtain the influence of fuel injection pressure, the macroscopic visualization and experiment of particle measurement on the fuel spray were investigated at 3,5 and 7 MPa of injection pressure under different surrounding pressure in the spray chamber. The results of this work show that the fuel injection pressure of gasoline injector in GDI engine has influence upon the mean droplet diameter, mean velocity of spray droplet, the spray tip penetration, and spray width under the elevated ambient pressure.

  • This paper presents the result of a computational study on the wake characteristics of two tanker models. i.e HSVA and DYNE hull forms. The focus of the study is on the distributions of axial. radial and tangential velocities of the two hull forms in way of the propeller, especially over the propeller disk. The effect of bilge vortices on the velocity distribution is also concerned. For the computation of stern and wake flows of the two hull forms. the incompressible Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equations are numerically solved by the use of a second order finite difference method, which employs a four stage Runge-Kutta scheme with a residual averaging technique and the Baldwin-Lomax model. The calculated pressure distributions on the hull surface and the axial. radial and tangential velocity distributions over the propeller disk are presented for the two hull forms. Finally, the result of wake analysis for the computed wake distribution over the propeller disk is given in comparison with those for the experimental wake distribution for the both hull forms.

  • This present study has dealt with the effect of surfactant on the freezing of aqueous solution Sodium chloride aqueous solution was used to measure the effect of surfactant and the main parameters of this experiment were temperature of bath, revolution of stirrer. and the radial velocity of NaCl solution. The acquired main conclusions are as follows; 1) the lower super-cooling temperature make hardly to attach the ice on beaker, 2) the size of ice become smaller to add the surfactant, 3) the ice packing factor increase with increasing of stirrer revolution.

  • We report a possible low-mass companion around the K2 III star $\varepsilon$ CrB (HD 143107). This star belongs to our sample of 55 K-giants studied for their radial velocity variations using the fiber-fed Bohyunsan Observatory Echelle Spectrograph (BOES) attached to the 1.8-m telescope at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory (BOAO). Our precise radial velocity measurements were obtained from February 2005 to June 2010. We find an orbital solution with a period of P = 419 days, a semi-amplitude of K = 137 m/s, and an eccentricity of e = 0.14. Assuming a moderate stellar mass of $M_{\bigstar}=0.77\;M\odot$, we calculate the minimum mass for the companion of m sini = $4.2\;M_{Jup}$ with an orbital semi-major axis of 1.0 AU.

  • Stellate ganglion block (SGB) is applicated frequently to increase the blood flow and to reduce the pain in head, neck and upper extremity. The effects of SGB are able to be estimated by clinical signs and symptoms of Horner's syndrome, skin warmth, anhydrosis, etc. The effects are also estimated by sympathetic function and the blood flow. Blood flow velocities and pulsatility indices of common carotid,d axillary, brachial and radial artery were measured by Doppler flowmeter after SGB with 1% lidocaine at C6 level. Blood velocities of all arteries were increased and pulsatility indices of all arteries were decreased. This results suggest that SGB increase the blood flow of head and upper extremity and Doppler flowmeter is a good indicator of the effects of SGB.

  • We use a Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) technique to derive the orbital parameters of spectroscopic binary stars. Using measured radial velocity data of five double-lined spectroscopic binary systems (i.e., EQ Tau, V376 And, V776 Cas, V2377 Oph and EE Cet), we find the corresponding orbital and spectroscopic elements. Our numerical results are in good agreement with those obtained by other groups via more traditional methods.

  • A rotating magnetic field (RMF) ${\Phi}_1-{\Phi}_2$ model was developed in consideration of the skin effect. The rotating magnetic field's induced three-dimensional flow was simulated numerically, and the influence of the skin effect was investigated. The rotating magnetic field drives the rotating convection in the azimuthal direction, and a secondary convection appears in the radial-meridional direction. The results indicate that ignoring the skin effect results in a smaller azimuthal velocity component and larger radial and axial velocity components, and that the deviation becomes more obvious with the larger dimensionless shielding parameter K.

  • Based on the DOAO/eShels observations, we have derived radial velocity curves of the three Algol-type spectroscopic binary systems : Algol, ${\beta}$ Aur, and ${\varepsilon}$ Per. The radial velocity amplitudes of the primary and the secondary (K1 and K2) were consistent within a few % of the values from the previous studies. Mass ratios between the two stars that constitutes each system ranges ~1 to ~10. In addition to the orbital elements derived, we discuss about the spectroscopic ability of the DOAO/eShels instrument.
