This experiment states the ultra pure distilled water penetration depth through ray parenchyma cell in radial direction of Castanea crenata. Heartwood penetration depth was 1.16 times lower than the depth in softwood and that difference was found statistically significant at 75.2 second of penetration. Following go-stop-go cycle, water penetrated in the ray parenchyma cell. At the beginning this speed was high and then it was decreased slowly. Water penetration depth result was compared with alcohol penetration depth. It was found that water penetration in ray parenchyma was found lower than alcohol due to the low surface tension of water.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder on radial pulse in healthy subjects. Methods : Sixty healthy subjects participated in this study, and were divided into a kidney tonifying acupuncture group(KI group), urinary bladder tonifying acupuncture group(BL group) and control group. Radial pulse was measured by 3 dimensional pulse imaging system(DMP-3000) before, immediately after, 30 minutes after, and 60 minutes after acupuncture at Cun, Guan, and Chi in each time. Results : 1. BL group exhibited significantly reduced T1 / T, T4 / T, T4 / (T-T4), T5 / T and increased(T-T4) / T compared to KI group. 2. BL group showed increase of radial augmentation index / heart rate(RAI / HR) in left Cun, H5, Ad / Ap in left Chi, H1, As / Ap in right Chi compared to KI group. BL group showed decrease of As / Ap, Aw / Ap in left Chi, H1, pulse depth, Ad / Ap in right Chi compared to KI group. 3. KI group showed increase of Aw / Ap, H1, H2, H4, pulse area in right Guan, pulse depth in right Chi compared to BL group. KI group showed decrease of RAI in left Cun, applied pressure, pulse depth in left Guan, Aw / Ap in right Chi compared to BL group. Conclusions : The effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder in healthy humans have been observed on various parameters. The parameters analysed in this study can be used to differentiate the effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder on radial pulse.
We present a 3D SH-wave velocity model of the crust and uppermost mantle and seismic radial anisotropy beneath East Asia. The SH-wave velocity structure model was built using Love-wave group-velocity dispersion data from earthquake data recorded at broadband seismic networks of Korea, Japan, and China. Love-wave group-velocity dispersion curves were obtained by using the multiple filtering technique in the period range of 3 to 150 s for 3,369 event-station pairs. The inverted model using these data sets provides a crust and upper mantle SH-wave velocity structure down to 100 km depth. At 10 ~ 40 km depths SH-wave velocity beneath the East Sea is higher than beneath the Japanese island region. We estimated the Moho beneath the East Sea to be between 10 ~ 20 km depth, while Moho beneath the Korean Peninsula at around 35 km based on the depth where high-velocity anomalies are detected. We estimated the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary beneath the East Sea to be at around 50 km based on the depth where strong low-velocity anomalies are observed. Widespread low-velocity anomalies are found between 50 ~ 100 km depth in the study region. Positive radial anisotropy ($V_{SV}$ > $V _{SH}$) is observed down to 35 km depth, while negative radial anisotropy ($V_{SV}$ > $V _{SH}$) is observed for deeper depth.
Recent advances in fabrication have enabled radial-junction architectures for cost-effective and high-performance optoelectronic devices. Unlike a planar PN junction, a radial-junction geometry maximizes the optical interaction in the three-dimensional (3D) structures, while effectively extracting the generated carriers via the conformal PN junction. In this paper, we report characterizations of radial PN junctions that consist of p-type Si micropillars created by deep reactive-ion etching (DRIE) and an n-type layer formed by phosphorus gas diffusion. We use electron-beam induced current (EBIC) microscopy to access the 3D junction profile from the sidewall of the pillars. Our EBIC images reveal uniform PN junctions conformally constructed on the 3D pillar array. Based on Monte-Carlo simulations and EBIC modeling, we estimate local carrier separation/collection efficiency that reflects the quality of the PN junction. We find the EBIC efficiency of the pillar array increases with the incident electron beam energy, consistent with the EBIC behaviors observed in a high-quality planar PN junction. The magnitude of the EBIC efficiency of our pillar array is about 70% at 10 kV, slightly lower than that of the planar device (≈ 81%). We suggest that this reduction could be attributed to the unpassivated pillar surface and the unintended recombination centers in the pillar cores introduced during the DRIE processes. Our results support that the depth-dependent EBIC approach is ideally suitable for evaluating PN junctions formed on micro/nanostructured semiconductors with various geometry.
A study was conducted to know 99.5% ethyl alcohol penetration depth in radial and longitudinal direction of Castanea crenata. Alcohol penetration depth was found higher in longitudinal direction by about 12.47 times. In both earlywood and latewood, fiber conducted alcohol in higher depth than that of large and small vessel. Penetration depth of alcohol after 15.0 second of penetration in longitudinal direction, there was no significant difference among fiber in sapwood and heartwood, and vessel in sapwood. At the beginning of penetration the speed was high and then gradually decreased.
Curved glued laminated timber (glulam) is rapidly coming into the domestic modern timber frame buildings and predominant in building construction. The radial stress is frequently occurred in curved beams and is a critical design parameter in curved glulam. Three models, Wilson equation, Exact solution and Approximation equation were introduced to determine the radial stress of curved glulam under pure bending condition. It is obvious that radial stress distribution between small radius and large radius was different due to slight change of neutral plane location to center line. If the beam design with extremely small radius, it should be considered to determine the exact location of maximum radial stress. The current standard KSF 3021 was reviewed and would be considered some adjustment determining the optimum radius in curved glulam. Current design principle is that the stress factor is given by the curvature term only in constant depth of the beam, but like tapered or small radius of beams, the stress factor by Wilson equation was underestimated. So current design formula should be considered to improvement for characterizing the radial stress factor under pure bending condition.

The applicability of the ultrasonic C-scan inspection is restricted due to the deterioration of mechanical properties of specimen during the test. Therefore, the aim of this research is applied to Eddy Current (EC) test substitute for the C-scan inspection in CFRP tube containing defects. This research is to evaluate the EC signals for the inspection of CFRP tube containing various circular hole defects (20% to 100% depth to the specimen thickness) using the unloading specimen and radial loading specimen. This study was considered the following points; 1) Analysis of EC signals for the inspection of saw-cut defect and circular hole defect, 2) The evaluation of defect depths and EC signals relationship. 3) Variation of EC signal owing to the radial load. In conclusions, the high frequency such as 300∼500 kHz made it possible to the inspection of 40% to 100% defects. Particularly, in case of 20% defect, the EC signal was not detected due to the noise of micro-crack and delamination. While the depth of the hole defects were decreasing, the difference of the phase angle between unloading specimen and radial loading specimen was gradually increasing.
An experiment was conducted to know the safranine impregnation distance from surface to inward using 6 different hardwood species. During impregnation, 3 parameters were applied-vacuum, pressure and soaking time. Only vacuum treatment did not increase the permeability of wood. Vacuum followed by pressure increased the penetration depth of safranine in radial, tangential and longitudinal direction. Longitudinal penetration was found easy to impregnate. Comparing with radial and tangential direction, radial penetration was found easy. There was a striking difference among sapwood and heartwood permeability. Safranine input depth was found highest in diffused porous wood rather than in ring porous wood. At increased vacuum and pressure, safranine penetration was found easy.
In this report, we describe the anatomical features of Gmelina arborea Roxb. belong to the genera of Verbenaceae native to Bangladesh and safranine penetration depth in radial and longitudinal directions. The wood of this species was characterized mostly by distinct growth ring boundaries, diffuse-porous, simple perforations, alternate non-vestured intervessel pits, and relatively short vessel elements and medium fibers. Thin to thick walled septate fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits are confined to the radial walls. Tyloses are common. They are paratracheal axial parenchyma vascicnetric and confluent. Rays not higher than 1milimeter are found, and larger rays commonly 4 to 5 seriate are dominantly present, as are multi seriate rays composed of a procumbent ray with 1 row of square or upright cells. Acicular crystals are present in ray cells. Another experiment was taken under consideration to observe the liquid penetration depth in longitudinal and radial directions using safranine. It was found that safranine penetrated easily in longitudinal direction and sapwood was more permeable than heartwood.

In this study, we turning plastic mold steel (STAVAX) against cutting speed, depth of cut, feed rate using whisker reinforced ceramic tool (WA1). To predict cutting force, analyze principal, radial, feed force with multi-regression analysis. Results are follows: From the analysis of variance, affected factor to cutting force feed rate, depth of cut, cutting speed in order and cutting speed was very small affect to cutting force. From multi-regression analysis, we extracted regression equation and the coefficient of determination$(R^2)$ was 0.9, 0.88, 0.856 at principal, radial and feed force. It means regression equation is significant. From the experimental verification, it was confirmed that principal, radial and feed force was predictable by regression equation.
