In General, LPI radar's detection probability by ES equipments is lower than that of conventional pulsed radar because of very low transmitting power and high antenna gain etc. LPI radar is a kind of RF stealth technique such as RCS reduction design. Therefore the ultimate goal of LPI radar is detection probability reduction by opponent. If one of the two, RCS value or LPI radar performance is not sufficient, own platform will be found first by opponent. In this paper, some considerations are suggested for detection probability reduction.

Inter-radar interferences may cause the critical impact to the radar detection performance because radar operates with high power and wideband. In this paper, the international criteria for radar interference protection is reviewed based on the ITU-R recommendation, and the radar interference analysis model is presented by taking into account the radar operating environments such as ground, airborne and spaceborne radars. Finally, the simulation results are presented with the interference Impact analysis in various radar environments.

AESA radar is able to instantaneously and adaptively position and control the beam, and such adaptive beam pointing of AESA radar enables to remarkably improve the multi-mission capability. For this reason, Radar Resource Management(RRM) becomes new challenging issue. RRM is a technique efficiently allocating finite resources, such as energy and time to each task in an optimal and intelligent way. Especially radar beam scheduling is the most critical component for the success of RRM. In this paper, we proposed a rule-based scheduling algorithm and Simulated Annealing(SA) based scheduling algorithm, which are alternatively selected and applied to beam scheduler according radar load status in real-time. The performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated on the multi-function radar scenario. As a result, we showed that our proposed algorithm can process a lot of beams at the right time with real time capability, compared with applying only rule-based scheduling algorithm. Additionally, we showed that the proposed algorithm can save scheduling time remarkably, compared with applying only SA-based scheduling algorithm.

As the maritime targets that threaten allies become lower, smaller, and faster, the need for analysis and modeling of clutter according to sea state increases. Clutter according to the sea state has a great influence on radar performance, such as lowering the probability of detection of low-altitude small maritime targets. In this paper, to analyze the detection performance of a multi function radar for a ship, a sea clutter model suitable for the radar operating environment is selected from several sea clutter models, and analysis of low-altitude, small target detection under a clutter is performed. By using the actual data of the already mounted radar for maritime target detection, four known clutter models have been implemented for each sea state and compared with the actual data. Through this, by selecting a clutter model that best reflects the actual radar environment, reliability of the clutter model is improved. Subsequently, the selected model is used to detect the detectable distance to the low-altitude small target.

In this paper, we proposed a two-level feature vector fusion technique to improve the performance of target classification. The proposed method combines feature vectors of the early-time region and late-time region in the first-level fusion. In the second-level fusion, we combine the monostatic and bistatic features obtained in the first level. The radar cross section (RCS) of the 3D full-scale model is obtained using the electromagnetic analysis tool FEKO, and then, the feature vector of the target is extracted from it. The feature vector based on the waveform structure is used as the feature vector of the early-time region, while the resonance frequency extracted using the evolutionary programming-based CLEAN algorithm is used as the feature vector of the late-time region. The study results show that the two-level fusion method is better than the one-level fusion method.

The dynamic range of the radar which uses digital signal processors is limited by ADC(Analog-to-Digital Converter). That parameter and ADC loss depend on the noise level of radar receiver. In order to stabilize the performance of radar systems, it is necessary to maintain the noise level constantly. This paper presents the noise AGC(Automatic Gain Control) concept that can keep the noise level constantly and proves that the concept is acceptable through the hardware test and evaluation.

It is very essential to remove a strong ground clutter and moving clutter for an extraction of accurate information from a Doppler weather radar. Therefore, this paper proposed the use of an adaptive array antenna to overcome the shortages of a conventional weather radar. In the first, a simulation method was suggested for the generation of clutter and weather signals. Using these data, the performance of a weather radar was analyzed under various conditions. It is shown that the quality of pulse-pair estimates was greatly improved from the simulation results.

A radar altimeter which measures the distance using radio wave developed by domestic technology has been applied to various missiles. It is used also for calculating the error of integrated navigation technique. There are a couple of methods to reduce the error but in this paper, we proposed to utilize existing C-band radar altimeter main body with frequency conversion. We designed and manufactured the frequency converter and Ku-band antenna to accomplish this goal. From the test results of products' function and performance, we could expect the possibility of applying this method to enhance the missiles' integrated performance.

Recently, the tracking radar has confirmed the necessity of developing a small tracking radar that can be operated without various restrictions in various environments. In addition, the performance of a small tracking radar requires equal to or higher than the existing tracking radar. Such a small tracking radar can be implemented through miniaturization and low power of existing tracking radar. In this paper, the role and function of a signal processor for a small tracking radar are defined and we proposed a method to increase the efficiency of power consumption and miniaturization by minimizing the use of devices required to implement a signal processor for a small tracking radar. Used as a method for miniaturization, a device processor such as DDC and communication controller was implemented in an FPGA to design a signal processor for a small tracking radar. In addition, a low-power signal processor was designed by a power supply using a highly efficient switching regulator. Finally, the signal processor was verified by the performance test of the signal processor for the small tracking radar implemented, the Doppler tracking test using the signal processor on the small tracking radar, and the distance tracking test.
