This study was carried out to investigate the pathological changes with paraquat(1.1'-dimethyl-4.4'-dipyrildiylium dichloride) administered by intraperitoneally, orally, skin applied in mice, rats and rabbits. Results were obtained as follows; In 2 days after paraquat administration clinical signs anorexia, depression, tachypnea, and tachycardia, respiratory failure, coma and death were observed in mice, rats and rabbits. Compared toxicity of paraquat with mouse were observed toward to paraquat that resistance was strong than rats and rabbits. Also, mortality of skin application were found the low than intraperitoneal and high than oral administration. In the case of gross observation were appear lips moisture in orally administered rats and rabbits by skin application. Lung of all laboratory animals were observed congestion and haemorrhage, swelling or atrophy. In the case of microscopic findings were severe congestion and haemorrhage, interstitial pneumonia of lung. Congestion and haemorrhage of liver, congestion and haemorrhage, renal tubule epithelium necrosis of kidney were observed in mice, rats and rabbits. Skin application group of mice, rats and rabbits showed infiltration of inflammatory cells and folliculitis of epidermis and dermis. Also, in oral administration group showed congestion and haemorrhage, tachment, necrosis of alimentary tract mucosa.
Pharmacokinetic characteristics of Acebutolol and its main metabolite, diacetolol, following a single 10 mg/kg oral dose, were investigated in rabbits with carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic failure. Plasma concentrations of acebutolol and diacetolol were determined by a high performance liquid chromatography assay. The area under the plasma concentration-time curves (AUC) and maximum plasma concentration ($C_{max}$) of acebutolol were significantly increased in moderate and severe carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic failure rabbits. The ratio of the diacetolol to total acebutolol in plasma (i.e., metabolite percentage rate) was significantly decreased in moderate and severe carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic failure rabbits. Volume of distribution ($V_{d}$) and total body clearance ($CL_{t}$) of acebutolol were significantly decreased in moderate and severe carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic failure rabbits. Slope of terminal phase ($\beta$) of acebutolol was significantly decreased in hepatic failure rabbits. These findings suggest that the $V_{d},{\;}CL_{t}$ and $\beta$ of acebutolol were significantly decreased as a result of inhibition of the hepatic metabolism in moderate to severe hepatic failure rabbits. Therefore, dose adjustment may be necessary for acebutolol in hypertensive patients with hepatic damage.
When 14 rabbits .were treated intraperitoneally 5ml of 20ml/100ml ethanol solution per kg body weight and physiological saline of 5ml to 19 rabbits in the same rate of death produced by coccidium infection was significantly decreased in the ethanol treate
This study was attempted to investigate the pharmacokinetics of theophylline(4mg/kg) in the rabbits of carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic Cailure, The plasma concentration and relative bioavailability of theophylline were increased significantly in hepatic railure rabbits compared with those of normal rabbits. There was significant relationship between SGOT value and bioavailability parameters of theophylline. From the results of this experiments, dosage regimen of theophylline is considered to be adjusted in dose size and dosing interval using SGOT values.
Effects of hydrolysed Antler for prevention or therapeusis of cho1esteremia in rabbit was examined by oral administration of hydrolysed Antler to Rabbits with lanolin diet or to cholesteremia rabbits. Examination were made on the blood cholesterol value, urinary excretion of cholesterol ,cholesterol in various organs, and rabbits bred on lanolin diet were used as the control. From these experimental data, it was found that the best decholesterol action is seen in a intial added hydrolysed Antler diet.
Total saponin and oil fraction of Polygala tenuifolia were tested for their anticholesterolemic properties by a "Three day fasting method" on rabbits. It has been reported that saponin have the anticholesterolemic activity, however this activity is not general property of all kinds of saponin. As shown in Table, Polygala saponin has not significant anticholesterolemic activity on rabbits. On administering oil fraction of Radix Polygala, serum cholesterol level in rabbits increased to 224.7% while the control group 43.2%.oup 43.2%.
The pharmacokinetics of propranolol administered orally (10 me/kg) was investgated in the rabbits of carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic failure. The plasma concentration and relative bioavailability of propranolol were increased significantly in hepatic failure rabbits, compared with those of normal rabbits. There were significant relationship between GOT, GPT value and bioavailability parameters of propranolol. In short, dosage regimen of propranolol is considered to be adjusted in dose size and dosing interval using GOT or GPT an index.

This study chiefly aimed to ascertain the effect of age at weaning on caecal content characteristics, post-weaning performance and health of rabbits. A secondary aim was to study the effect of dietary restriction on performance and health of rabbits. After delivery, 30 litters of 8 pups each, were housed in separate cages. Fifteen litters were weaned 24 days from birth (group W 24) while the other 15 were weaned at 28 days (group W28). After weaning, 53 rabbits of group W24 and 56 of group W28 were fed ad libitum (group LIB), while 53 rabbits of group W24 and 57 of group W28 were restricted (group RES). All the rabbits were kept in individual cages. Fourteen other rabbits of groups W24 (7 fed ad libitum and 7 restricted) and 7 of group W28 were sacrificed to obtain data regarding caecum weight and caecal content. Age at weaning affected neither the state of health nor the final live weight. In comparison with those of group W28, the rabbits weaned at 24 days had a lower daily gain until 35 days of age but gain was higher subsequently. From the 28th day, however, the feed intake and the feed conversion ratio of the group W24 rabbits were always better than those of W28. The restricted diet until 42 days resulted in a lower weight both at 42 days (1,078 vs. 1,164 g) and at 70 days (2,192 vs. 2,294 g). Indeed, from the 42nd day, despite receiving feed ad libitum the rabbits of the restricted group continued to ingest less feed (120.8 vs. 127.2 g) than those of the ad libitum group, and had a slightly lower daily gain (39.8 vs. 40.3 g). The measurements carried out on the caecum highlighted significant differences among the groups in caecal content (33.1 vs. 31.7 vs. 25.3 g respectively for groups W24LIB, W28 and W24RES), for total volatile fatty acids (53.2 vs. 50.6 vs. 44.5 mmol/l respectively for groups W24LIB, W28and W24RES) for ammonia (7.0 vs. 7.2vs 8.8 mmol/l respectively for groups W24LIB, W28 and W24RES), for propionate (5.7 vs. 6.3 vs. 8.1% respectively for groups W24LIB, W28 and W24RES) and for propionate/butyrate (0.33 vs. 0.36 vs. 0.49 respectively for groups W24LIB, W28 and W24RES).

Two methods of feed preference trials were compared to evaluate the acceptability of 5 fresh foliages: Leucaena leucocephala, Moringa oleifera, Portulaca oleracea, Guazuma ulmifolia, and Brosimum alicastrum that was included as control. The evaluation included chemical analyses and forage intake by rabbits. The first method was a cafeteria trial; 12 California growing rabbits aged 8 wk, allocated in individual cages, were offered the five forage plants at the same time inside the cage, while in the second trial 60 California growing rabbits aged 8 wk, allocated individually, were randomly distributed into 5 experimental groups (n = 12/group); for each group just one forage species was offered at a time. The testing period for each method lasted for 7 d, preceded by one week of adaptation. The results showed that B. alicastrum and L. lecocephala were the most preferred forages while on the contrary G. ulmifolia was the least preferred one by rabbits. The results also revealed that the CV% value for the 2nd method (16.32%), which the tested forages were presented separately to rabbits, was lower and methodologically more acceptable than such value for the $1^{st}$ method (34.28%), which all forages were presented together at the same time. It can be concluded that a range of tropical forages were consumed in acceptable quantities by rabbits, suggesting that diets based on such forages with a concentrate supplement could be used successfully for rabbit production. However, growth performance studies are still needed before recommendations could be made on appropriate ration formulations for commercial use.
