  • This study aims to analyze the accuracy of rover speed change in route surveying using RTK-GPS. Route surveying methods using GPS contain Static, DGPS, and RTK-GPS. Much research of navigation system, positioning of vehicles by DGPS, and accuracy analysis by GPS surveying have already been done. From this study, it is firstly found that DGPS is suitable for car navigation and sea navigation with an error of meter scale but not good for detailed construction, designing maps and updating GIS databases. Secondly, RTK-GPS can be used for managing gas pipes, water supply and drain pipes and fiber-optic cable that are needed to be controlled in a real time basis. Thirdly, since the accuracies of route surveying by RTK-GPS and DGPS are not correctly matched with the change of rover speed, the choice of route surveying method from those two should follow the need of accuracy fidelity Further study should focus on Cycle Slip problem and coordinate change problem in tunnel and mountainous areas.

Implementation and Performance Analysis of Real-Time DGPS & RTK Error Correction Data Transmission System for Long-Distance in Mobile Environments (모바일 환경에서 DGPS 및 RTK 보정 데이터 실시간 장거리 전송 시스템의 구현 및 성능 분석)

  • DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) and RTK(Real time Kinematic) are in one of today's most widely used surveying techniques. However surveying with these techniques is restricted by the distance between reference and rover station, and it is difficult to process data in realtime by their own organizational limitation in precise measurement of positioning. To meet these new demands, in this paper, new DGPS and RTK correction data services through the Internet and PSTN(Public Switched Telephony Network) have been proposed. For this purpose, a DGPS and RTK error correction data transmission system is implemented for long-distance using the Internet and PSTN which allows a mobile user at which the rover receiver is located to receive the correction data from the reference in realtime, and analyzed and compared with DGPS and RTK performances by experiments through the Internet and PSTN for the distance and the time.

  • Space-Based Augmentation System (SBAS), which is one of the GPS augmentation systems, is a Wide-Area Differential GPS that provides differential GPS corrections and integrity data. In this study, we did performance analysis of kinematic SBAS surveying by conducting Real-Time Kinematic (RTK), DGPS, standalone, and SBAS surveys. Considering static survey results as truth, 2-D Root Mean Square (RMS) error and 3-D RMS error were computed to evaluate the positioning accuracy of each survey method. As a result, the 3-D positioning error of RTK was 13.1cm, DGPS 126.0cm, standalone (L1/L2) 135.7cm, standalone (C/A) 428.9cm, and SBAS 109.2cm. The results showed that the positioning accuracy of SBAS was comparable to that of DGPS.

  • This study has based on RTKGPS and DGPS and Digital Video Camera to 3-dimensional position data of road, as a Road Spatial Information. Economic efficiency analysis was applied to road spatial information system built up by four different methods such as conventional surveying, RTK GPS, DGPS, and Digital Video Camera. As a result of analysis, it was shown conventional surveying 100%, it was shown that about 64% in RTKGPS, it was shown that about 63% in DGPS, it was shown that about 37% in Digital Video Camera cost-saving.

  • As a solution for environmental problems caused by increasing number of vehicles, it is encouraged to use a bicycle as an environment-friendly transportation method. To vitalize the bicycle usage, it is a necessary to construct bicycle roads that are safe and suitable for users. Based on the previous research results, we assume the main purposes of bicycle usages are mainly local leisure activity and school commuting. Thus, the proposed method finds the shortest link between the existing bicycle road network and bicycle usage facilities such as leisure activity places or schools over public road network. Then, we carry out the RTK DGPS survey for the candidate links, and analyze the slopes of them. When the slope of a found link is larger than a threshold, an alternative link is re-found for the safety and convenience of a bicycle user. The proposed method is applied to the real bicycle road network in Mokpo, Chunnam and the results are discussed.

  • The conventional RTK-GPS technique has many problems which are permission using RF wireless modem, influence of geographic obstacle using radio wave, frequency interference, finiteness of frequency resources. To solve these problems, in this paper, we designed the DGPS correction message transmission system as a method to substitute the RF wireless modem of RTK-DGPS receiver. Then the interface module was designed and implemented for linkage of GPS receiver and mobile phone. As a result worked differential surveying using receiving correction message using RS-232C and communication control, users of mobile station were worked differential surveying correction between mobile phones. Interface module system was received the same result of precision which was compared RF wireless modem system.

  • The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs is working on the construction of Nationwide DGPS(NDGPS) with connection to Maritime DGPS Reference Stations and if Chun-cheon Reference Station is to be completed in 2008, DGPS positioning information is available in the whole area of Republic of Korea. Therefore to promote the usage of DGPS surveying information, we measured and panalyzed the accuracy of DGPS. In real-time DGPS positioning accuracy were 0.42m of planar Root Mean Square(RMS) error in static survey and 0.48m of planar RMS error in dynamic survey. We went abreast with RTK comparison measurement. According to these results. DGPS positioning information cannot be applied directly to the GIS construction field, but GIS application fields, requiring the real-time positioning information. can take advantage of it in variable cases.

  • GPS is one of today's most widely used surveying techniques. But, users can't acquire an enough accuracy in applications of the navigation or geodesy by the GPS positioning technique because of the effects of the ionosphere and troposphere and US DoD's systematic errors. The solution of these restrictions is the DGPS technique that is to eliminate the common errors and can achieve a high accuracy. Although of sufficient density for good DGPS, accuracy of positioning is just not dense enough to provide complete coverage for real-time positioning, because distances between base and rover is short. In this paper, we designed and implemened a RTK-GPS error correction signal transmission system for long-distance using the TCP/IP, which consist of TCP, UDP and IP, which allows a user to increase the distance at which the rover receiver is located from the base, due to radio modem.

Availability Evaluation of Network DGPS Positioning for Various Facilities Management In Dense Housing Area (주택가 밀집지역에서의 각종 시설물 관리를 위한 네트워크 DGPS 측위의 가용성 평가)

  • Since the facility management for various facilities in urban area are conducted by general managers who have poor knowledge for surveying technology, it is not easy to trace the exact location of the facility in a short time with the GIS map only by themselves in the field. In order to improve it, VRS-RTK or SBAS DGPS system integrated with UMPC and PDA which is uploaded GIS field software are being used recently however lot of difficulties are still existed with the GPS positioning in urban area due to the lack of visible satellites, no reception of correction data and multipath error by the interruption of the high buildings and houses etc. Therefore, in this study, we applied with Network DGPS system which allows better reception of satellite signal and correction data even in dense housing areas with the use of GNSS receiver and CDMA mobile phone. Based on the analysis of field data, it was confirmed that standard deviations of the Network DGPS positioning are 0.3 to 0.84m with a very high positioning rate even in dense housing areas. Therefore, it was concluded that the Network DGPS system could be used widely to fast and accurate positioning for various facilities management works in dense housing areas in the future.
