  • A Development of a data logger for monitoring wasted water is introduced. A characteristics of the system with microcontroller are simple and cheaper. A portable RAM card is consisted for saving a monitored data. Serial communication is adopted to communicate with a remote monitoring computer. CSMA/CD, which is used widely as MAC(Medium Access Control) in ethernet, is modified to apply a RS485 serial communication. When the measured values run over a limit values, the data logger takes alarm.

  • 현재 방범 시스템은 적외선, 초음파 둥의 I-지기의 신호에 의존하여 외부로부터의 침입을 감지하고 있으나 방범 시스템이 설치된 환경에 따라 이런 감지기의 정확성이 달라지므로 오 동작의 가능성을 포함하며 신뢰성이 저하되고 있다. 실제 외부로부터의 침입을 확인하기 위해서는 화상과 음성 그리고 감지기의 신호를 조합하여 정확한 판단이 가능하지만 화상을 전송하기 위해서는 고가의 회선비용을 부담해야만 한다. 하지만 인터넷을 이용하여 화상을 전송하는 제품들이 출시되면서 Real-time 화상감시가 가능해졌다. 이런 화상감시 제품들은 Netscape, MS Explorer와 같은 표준 Web Browser을 통해 Real-time으르 전세계 어디서나 화상을 감시할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 적용분야는 호텔주변, 관광지의 여러 명소에 설치 후 홈페이지에 링크시켜 홍보용으로 사용하거나 공장 주요시설, 교통상황 둥의 중요지역의 Monitoring에 활용하고 있다. 그러나 방범 시스템에 적용하기에는 감지기의 확장성, 방범 관제센터 시스템과의 연동이 부족하여 본 고에서는 현재 출시된 화상감시 시스템과 기존 방범시스템을 Integration하여 방범의 최종 목표인 화상과 감지기 신호의 조합에 따른 정확한 방범시스템의 구현에 대해서 기술하고자 한다. 화상방범시스템의 구현은 크게 두 가지로 나누어지며 첫째는 화상감시 시스템과 방범시스템간의 통신을 설계하는 것으로 기존 대부분의 방범시스템이 사용하는 RS-485 통신 프로토콜을 재설계하여 화상감시 시스템과의 통신을 설계하였으며 둘째는 화상감시시스템과 관제센터 시스템간의 통신을 설계하는 것으로 현재 화상감시 시스템의 TCP/IP 프로토콜을 이용한 socket 통신으로 관제센터 시스템과의 실시간 데이터 전송을 가능하게 했다. 이 시스템을 활용할 경우 고객들은 반드시 관제센터시스템의 인증을 거쳐야 하므로 고객의 DataBase를 축적할수 있으며 이 정보를 활용하여 인터넷 화상방범 서비스 Potal Site구축이 가능하다는 장점이 있다.

Intrabed and Interbed Networks for Patient Monitoring (환자 모니터링을 위한 인트라베드 및 인터베드 통신망)

  • In this paper, we describe the intrabed and interbed network in a developed patient monitoring system. Intrabed network handles data communication among the main unit of a bedside monitor and parameter modules plugged in it. Interbed network deals with a higher level data communication among many bedside monitors, central stations, DB servers, and clinical workstations. Analyzing the data communication requirements in each stage of the system, we designed the intrabed network based upon RS-485 and HDLC protocol with 1Mbps data rate. Interbed network is designed to utilize the industry standard 10Base-T Ethernet with TCP/IP and UDP protocol. We present the specifications and the performances of the developed data communication networks in the patient monitoring system.

  • This paper present a robot controller developed for shipbuilding yard. Since shipbuilding process handles large work pieces and has dusty and noisy environment, the developed controller has separated architecture into main control part and servo control part. Main control part is located in control room while servo control part is located near robot with work pieces. Commutation between two parts is done through SynqNet and RS485. Air purging system is adapted to servo control part for better reliability. We aimed open architecture in both hardware and software architecture. For open hardware architecture, we employed Compact PCI (cPCI) because it is widely used bus system and very reliable. Since lots of commercial boards are available with cPCI interface, upgrade and reconfiguration is easy. For open software architecture, Windows XP�� Embedded is selected as operating system (OS), because it is very popular OS and most hardware vender supports device driver for the windows XP.

  • 첨단의 자동화 시스템을 구축하기 위해서는 각 필드기기에서 생산되는 정보들을 적절한 형태로 가공하여 적시에 필요한 공정으로 제공하여 줄 수 있는 지능형 센서 및 필드기기의 도입이 필요하다. 이러한 필드기기들이 유기적으로 정보를 교환하고 공유하기 위해서는 통신망 시스템을 구축할 필요가 있다. 필드버스는 자동화 및 분산 제어 시스템의 컴퓨터 통신망 계층구조에서 최하위 계층 기기들 간에 실시간 통신을 제공하는 산업용 통신망이다. 본 연구에서는 통신용 프로세서인 Mc68360을 기반으로 하여 필드버스의 일종인 Profibus의 물리계층과 데이터링크계층 프로토콜을 구현하였다. 물리계층은 프로세서의 UART 통신 기능과 RS-485칩을 사용하여 구현하고, 데이터링크계층 프로토콜은 프레임 분석과 송수신, 에러처리, 흐름제어, 매체접속권한 관리 등의 기능을 소프트웨어로 구현하였다. 또한 지능형 센서 본래의 목적중의 하나인 원격관리 기능을 위하여 각 필드기기의 노드 주소, 타이머 값 등의 통신 파라미터를 원격 마스터에서 설정할 수 있도록 관리계층의 기능을 추가하였다. 본 연구에서는 각각 하나의 노드기능을 담당하는 여러 개의 보드들로 구성된 testbed를 구축하고, 다양한 통신환경에서 초기화, 정상, 비정상 상태 등의 동작을 실험하였으며, 이를 통하여 지능형 센서용 필드버스의 데이터링크계층 프로토콜이 정상적으로 동작됨을 확인하였다.

  • Lamination is used extensively in various industries. The type of lamination applied to the material depends on the precision level required, which varies for materials needed for everyday use, materials used in high-tech industries, and processes employed to fabricate finished products. Especially in hot lamination, the distribution of the surface temperature of the heating roller is very important to avoid the generation of internal bubbles and ensure flatness of the attached materials, and thus maintain a good standard of quality and productivity. In this study, we have developed a system to monitor the surface temperature of the heating rollerby applying a heterogeneous controller and a non - contact temperature sensor. This monitoring system accurately measures the surface temperature of the heating roller and applies the RS485 MODBUS communication method for easy expansion. Using this system, a laminated prototype was fabricated, and its efficacy for non-contact temperature sensor calibration, Ethernet IP communication, stoppage of the heating roller, and determination of temperature distribution with rotation was examined for its potential usage in industries.

Design of Smart Three-Axis Force Sensor (스마트 3축 힘센서 설계)

  • This paper describes the design of a smart three-axis force sensor for measuring forces Fx, Fy and Fz. The smart three-axis force sensor is composed of a three-axis force sensor, a force-measuring device, housing and a cover, where the three-axis force sensor and the force-measuring device are inside the housing and the cover. The measuring device measures forces Fx, Fy and Fz from the three-axis force sensor, and calculates the resultant force using the measured forces, and then sends the resultant force and forces to a PC or other controller using RS-485 communication. The repeatability error and the non-linearity error of the smart three-axis force sensor are less than 0.03%, and the interference error of the sensor is less than 0.87%. It is thought that the sensor can be used for measuring forces in a robot, automatic systems and so on.

  • For pneumatic system control, we need a data transmission system with high speed and high reliability or information interchange between main computer and solenoid valves and I/O devices. This paper presents a set of design techniques for a data communication system that is mainly used for pneumatic system control. For this purpose, we first designed hardware modules for an interface between central control module and local node that handles the operation of solenoid valves. In addition we developed a communication protocol for construction of RS-485 based multidrop network, and this protocol is basically designed with a kind of polling technique. Finally we evaluated performance of the developed system. The field test results show that, even under high noise environment, the data transmission of 375Kbps rate is possible up to 1,000m without using repeater. In addition, the system developed in this research is proved to be used easily for extension of a communication network because of its module structure.

  • Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is the most promising energy source for the robot applications because it has unique advantages such as high energy density, no power drop during operating, and easy to make compact size. However, PEMFC has intrinsic disadvantages which are delay to start up and difficulty to correspond drastic load changes. These disadvantages can be compensated by hybrid operating with a Li-poly battery. This study is focus to build and understand the hybrid system for the robot system. In this study, we build the PEMFC hybrid system using EOS-320 PEMFC stack, Li-poly battery and G-Philos FDX1-250BU dc-dc converter. The hybrid system is accurately monitored by CAN and RS485. The system was studied under two conditions such as non-loaded and loaded operating conditions. The results show that the system has delay to start up without hybrid operating and it can be compensated with the hybrid operating.

  • This paper is to show the designing for LED lights driver unit. The main purpose of driver designing is high electrical efficient performance and intelligent control LED driver. Nowadays, a lightning system with some of charactestics such as an environmentally friendly purposes with a possible reduction of electric power consumptions. We constitute a intelligent contron LED control system that helps to save an electric energy, and a communication system to control the system. This LED driver can be used for intelligent light control. This product expects to improve the light control by dimming instead of interlace on/off light control that increases the social cost such as car accidents and etc.
