Effects of Soybean Oil or Rumen Protected Conjugated Linoleic Acid Supplementation on Accumulation of Conjugated Linoleic Acid in Dairy Cows' Milk

  • The effects of feeding soybean oil (SBO) or rumen protected conjugated linoleic acid (RP-CLA) on CLA accumulation in milk, and performance of lactating dairy cows were studied. Twenty four Holstein Friesian crossbred lactating dairy cows, averaging $126{\pm}45days$ in milk, $15.6{\pm}2.43kg$ of milk and $452{\pm}51kg$ body weight were stratified randomly and assigned in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) to three treatments of 8 cows each. The treatments were control, 150 g of SBO and 150 g of RP-CLA supplementation. Performance parameters showed that DM intake, NELP intake and body weight change were similar across treatments, while CP intake was decreased by SBO and RP-CLA supplementation. Milk yield and milk composition were not significantly different among treatments, except for milk fat percentage and fat yield which were significantly decreased by 27% (p<0.05) and by 28% (p<0.01), respectively, by RP-CLA supplements compared with control treatment. Feeding RP-CLA reduced 3.5% FCM compared with the other treatments (p<0.003). Both SBO and RP-CLA supplementation reduced ${\geq}C18:0$ and CLA concentration in milk fat.

  • This study aimed to develop an education program for fashion design that can deliver knowledge and techniques to enhance the capability of participatory fashion designers. The framework for education program was established based on the RP (Rapid Prototype) model, and the developing process of education program was structured and systemized. As a result, this study proposed the circulated RP-ISD model, which is designed to revise and complement the educational objectives, strategy and evaluation tool by iterative prototype, and purposed to be consistent in carrying out the instructional systems design. Furthermore, the systematic developing process and the assessment criteria of design education program for ten weeks was proposed. This result could be used as a base study of participatory fashion design and contribute to systemization of education programs in design field. Furthermore, it could foster the possibility of an alternative education model in fashion design.

  • The STL or Stereolithography format, established by 3D systems, gathers the geometric data of the model in a number of triangular surfaces. It can be in ASCII or binary format, and is a de facto standard in the Rapid Prototyping (RP) world. RP has developed greatly over the last ten years. In particular, improvement in materials has meant greater part accuracy and strength, which in turn has increased the range of functional applications. Future applications of RP will focus on rapid tooling and direct manufacturing. Direct manufacturing in particular may see much benefit from the incorporation of color into models. For color RP, besides designing new hardware to add color into the prototypes, it is necessary to redefine the CAD software for adding and accurately positioning color onto the model. STL cannot effectively store this kind of information. Among the existing data file formats, VRML is an acceptable one that is complimentary to existing RP processes. This paper acts as a review to discuss several methods of using VRML for coloring model data. This paper will also discuss the problems occurred in coloring the layer contours of the RP model.

  • A human ribosomal protein S3 (rpS3), which also functions as a DNA repair enzyme(UV endonuclease III), was expressed in a methylotrophic yeast, Pichia pastoris, and biochemically characterized. UV endonuclease activity was preiously characterized, and this activity of mammalian rpS3 was found to be non-specfic upon purification and storage. Under the Pichia expression system, the subcloned cDNA of the human rpS3 gene revealed a peptide of 42 kDa by SDS-PAGE and Western blot. The secreted form of human rpS3 rendered no endonuclease activity while the intracellular form showed UV specific endonuclease activity by the nick circle assay.

  • The synthetic oligomers called nos right palindrome (RP) element and left palindrome (LP) element were inserted into nos.minimal promoter nos 5'-101 deletion mutant The activity of nos promoter was measured by studying the expression pattern of gene fusion between nos promoter and reporter genes such as chloramphenicol acetyltransferase and $\beta$-glucuconidase. Analysis of transgenic tobacco plane carrying transgene showed that the activity of nos minimal promoter activity was recovered by insertion of synthetic nos RP element. Nos RP element insertion of nos minimal promoter was induced by auxin, dithiothreitol, salicylic acid and methyl jasmonate.

The Roles of Kupffer Cells in Hepatic Dysfunction Induced by Ischemia/Reperfusion in Rats

  • This study examined the role of Kupffer cells in altering the hepatic secretory and microsomal function during ischemia and reperfusion (ls/Rp). Rats were subjected to 60 min of hepatic ischemia, followed by 1 and 5 h of reperfusion. Gadolinium chloride ($GdCl_{3}$, 7.5 mg/kg body weight, intravenously) was used to inactivate the Kupffer cells 1 day prior to ischemia. Is/Rp markedly increased the serum aminotransferase level and the extent of lipid peroxidation. $GdCl_{3}$ significantly attenuated these increases. Is/Rp markedly decreased the bile. flow and cholate output, and $GdCl_{3}$ restored their secretion. The cytochrome P450 content was decreased by Is/Rp. However, these decreases were not prevented by $GdCl_{3}$. The aminopyrine N-demethylase activity was decreased by Is/Rp, while the aniline p-hydroxylase activity was increased. $GdCl_{3}$ prevented the increase in the aniline p-hydroxylase activity. Overall, Is/Rp diminishes the hepatic secretory and microsomal drug-metabolizing functions, and Kupffer cells are involved in this hepatobiliary dysfunction.

Effect of Storage Time on the Rancidity and Metabolizable Energy of Rice Polishing in Poultry

  • The storage of rice polishing (RP) with and without addition of antioxidant for sixteen weeks and its effect on rancidity and metabolizable energy values during the summer season was determined. Fifteen Single Comb White Leghorn cockerels of approximately uniform age and weight were procured and kept in metabolic cages under standard feeding and management practices. Five force feeding trials were conducted. In the first trial, fresh RP with 0 weeks of storage (diet 1 and 2) was used followed by four feeding trials with 4 (diet 3, 4), 8 (diet 5, 6), 12 (diet 7, 8), and 16 (diet 9, 10) weeks of storage of RP. The same birds were used in all trails. The birds were fasted for a period of 21 h, followed by force feeding of 20 g of RP with and without antioxidant for all storage periods. The control/fasting group was also maintained to measure endogenous fecal losses. Excreta were collected after 48 h for the determination of AME and TME values of RP. Along with the biological trials, laboratory assay of the RP stored with and without antioxidant was conducted to measure the extent of rancidity in terms of Thiobarbituric acid value (TBA). The TBA values were affected (p<0.05) by storage period and the values increased when the storage period increased from 4 to 16 weeks. However, the TBA values were significantly reduced (p<0.05) when RP was stored after addition of antioxidant when compared with the values obtained from RP stored without antioxidant (diet 3 vs. 4, 5 vs. 6, 7 vs. 8, and 9 vs. 10). The AME MJ/kg and TME MJ/kg values of RP were neither affected by increase in storage period nor addition of antioxidant. The findings of this study revealed that there was no effect of rancidity and storage time on the nutritive value, AME or TME of RP in poultry. However, TBA values were increased with the increase in storage period.

Therefore, find a new tool that can show quick modeling result for present of new idea or fast design specifications examination and production at college or corporation now. According to such environment change did request by cost time and cost-cutting until reach in production from product design because competition is gone vigorously. University arrived to think RP induction by result presentation and so on for third dimension model by various design process. This research purpose is going to compare difference methods(Manual processing, CNC machine) with students' design result manufacture process on RP appliance that is using in college. Consequently, think that this study is helpful in the college of which is making use of RP appliance or planning installation. By result of this research, model of big curved line is profitable in hand process, by CNC Is profitable when model is going to manufacture finely, RP work could know that size of product is profitable small thing as is complicated.

Relation of Alcohol/Tobacco use with Metastasis, Hormonal (Estrogen and Progesterone) Receptor Status and c-erbB2 Protein in Mammary Ductal Carcinoma

  • Background: An association between alcohol/tobacco use and risk of metastasis in breast cancer has been clearly shown. Materials and Methods: The present study explored, in 48 samples of tissue from mammary ductal carcinoma (taken from Mexican women with an average age of $58.2{\pm}10.9$ years), the association of risk of metastasis with the status of hormonal receptors and the c-erbB2 protein (by immunohistochemistry) as well as clinical, histopathological and sociodemographic factors. Results: Of 48 patients, 41.6% (20/48) presented with metastasis, 43.8% were positive for the estrogen receptor (RE+), 31.3% for the progesterone receptor (RP+) and 47.7% for c-erbB2 (c-erbB2+). The following combinations were found: RE+/RP+/c-erbB2+ 8.3%, RE+/RP+ 22.9%, RE+/RP- 20.8%, RE-/RP+ 8.3%, RE-/RP-/c-erbB2- 22.9% and RE-/RP- 47.8%. There were 12 patients who used alcohol/tobacco, of which 91.6% did not present metastasis and 81.9% were RE-/RP-. Compared to the RE-/RP-/c-erbB2+, the RE+/RP+/c-erbB2+ group had a 15-fold greater risk for metastasis (95%CI, 0.9-228.8, p=0.05). The carriers of the double negative hormonal receptors had a 4.7 fold greater probability of being (or having been) smokers or drinkers (95%CI, 1.0-20.4, p = 0.03). Conclusions: There was a clear protective effect of using alcohol and/or tobacco, in the cases included in the present study of mammary ductal carcinoma, associated with double negative hormonal receptors. However, this association could be due to a protective factor not measured (Neyman bias) or to a bias inherent in the rate of hospitalization (Berkson fallacy). This question should be explored in a broad prospective longitudinal study.

Influence of Adding Recovered Protein from Processing Wastewater on the Quality of Mechanically Separated Chicken Meat Surimi Like-Material

  • Functional and nutritional soluble proteins can be recovered from surimi (and surimi-like material) processing wastewater, reducing environmental problems and the cost of an irresponsible waste disposal. Recovered proteins may be added back at a low percentage to surimi products. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of the addition of soluble recovered proteins (RP), obtained from mechanically separated chicken meat surimi-like material (MSCM-SLM) processing wastewater by acidic pH-shifting, on the composition and texture of RP-MSCM-SLM, with RP contents of 0, 10, 20 and 30% (w/w) in the mixture. For that, proximate composition and gel properties were evaluated. The fat content of the MSCM-SLM was significantly reduced to 11.98% and protein increased to 83.64% (dry basis) after three washing cycles. The addition of 30% RP in the MSCM-SLM significantly augmented the protein content to 93.45% and reduced fat content from to 2.78%. On the other hand, the addition of RP was responsible for a drastic decrease in texture parameters, reaching 252.36 g, 185.23 g.cm, and 6.97 N for breaking force, gel strength and cutting strength, respectively, when 30% of RP was included in the MSCM-SLM. It was concluded that the obtained intermediary product (RP-MSCM-SLM) is a good option to applications in processed meat products where high texture parameters are dispensable, e.g., emulsified inlaid frankfurter-type sausages, but high protein content and low fat content desired.
