  • Recently, various high-quality AV services such as UHDTV have begun to increase as broadcasting technology evolves, and various broadcasting standards have been defined. Among the various broadcasting standards, there are representative delivery technologies which are DASH/ROUTE and MMTP. DASH/ROUTE and MMTP are adopted as delivery standards for UHD broadcasting in south Korea, currently. DASH segment and MPU are segmented units including media data, which are delivered via DASH/ROUTE and MMTP, respectively. In this paper, we analyzed structure of DASH segment and MPU and propose a verification system which enables converting DASH segments to MPUs and delivering them via MMTP.

  • In route selection process of NIMBY facilities, many conflicts occur due to route selection procedure and NIMBY syndrome. Especially, the social conflicts surrounding the site selection and operation are frequent enough to account for 70% of the total conflict cases, causing significant losses. To resolve the conflict in route selection, social conflicts are considered. Therefore, this study proposes an improved process of selecting route considering social conflicts in the power transmission line. First, the analysis of previous research trends and interviews with experts revealed the improved exclusion zone criteria, the factors and priorities of NIMBY facilities. After selecting the candidate routes, the optimal route is selected by using Fuzzy-TOPSIS. Hence, 83.3% of six experts have verified that this model minimizes conflicts and has sufficient applicability. The proposed model is expected to be used as a tool to minimize social conflict in the selection process of the power transmission line in the early stage of the project.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel Route_Reconf message as the RSVP message to maintain an RSVP session for hard handoff and consider path-comparing route (PCR) a PCR algorithm to find an intermediate node in the charge of downlink re-establishment. And, we consider information form each mode for the PCR algorithm, which also reduces the frequency and amount of exchanged RSVP message to minimize packet loss and delay between an intermediate node and a receiver. According to the proposed algorithm, a new support node (NSN) and an existing support node (ESN) along the RSVP path can be found; the former is a supporting RSVP session node newly searched and the latter is the last supporting node holding the previous session after handoff. On receiving the Route_Reconf message at the ESN, a new allocated route from a NSN to the MN waiting for the handoff via a new AR is configured by the ESN.

  • In this paper, we present a MMPR (Minimizing the Maximum Used Power Routing) Algorithm in a MANET (Mobile ad hoc network) by modifying the route selection algorithm in well-known routing MANET protocol. In the previous route selection algorithms, the metric for cost function is the minimal hop which does not consider the energy status. MMPR uses the metric with used energy The node that want to know the route for some destination begins calculating the route cost function with alpha which is the maximum used energy in the known route. If the new route that contains the node whose used energy is greater than previous known alpha is known to the node that want to send a packet in some moment, the probability of selecting the new route is lower. Experimental results with MMPR show higher performance in both the maximum used energy and the number of dead nodes than that of the CMMBCR (Conditional Max-Min Battery Routing).

  • The main objective of study was to determine the optimum level of bus service by bus route types for the effective improvement of bus route operating in semi-public transportation management. In pursuing the above, this study proposed to classify by bus route types based on publicity, profitability and potentiality. Using this methods of the classification, 113 bus routes in Busan were classified into bus routes of 8 types. And this study proposed desirable management of bus route operation according to 8 bus route types considering 9 bus operating characteristics such as bus route distance, operating number, state of passing through the CBD and so on. For proposing the desirable management, it was to do a statistical analysis of PCA(Principal Components Analysis) and to abbreviate 9 variables to 3. And it was drawn a conclusion effectively by making comparison between 8 bus rout types and 3 bus operating characteristics.

  • The authors have newly developed the “Port Traffic Management System (PTMS)”. The PTMS provides each ship with the detailed planned routes of all the ships entering/leaving the port. This system also has a function to predict the encounter situations between own ship and other ships in the future. Based on information of the present positions, speeds and planned routes of the own ship and other ships, it is possible to predict when and where the own ship will have dangerous encounters with other ships in the future. The software of PTMS was developed from 2001. Then onboard experiments using small training ships equipped with actual AIS were performed in June 2003. From the results of these onboard experiments, the usefulness of PTMS was clarified. In addition to these onboard experiments, the effectiveness of PTMS was confirmed by comprehensive simulator experiments. In the simulator experiments, captains/pilot maneuvered a training ship/container ship in congested waters using PTMS. [t was assumed that all ships have PTMS and send their planned routes. After the simulator experiments, captains/pilot suggested that it is very beneficial if the optimal route of own ship can be automatically calculated. In response to this suggestion, software to calculate the optimal route of own ship using Dynamic Programming was developed. This software calculates the minimum time route from the present position to the destination keeping the danger of collision against other ships under predetermined level. From the result of calculations for multi-encounter situations, it was confirmed that the developed software can provide safe and time-saving route.

  • This study derived the algorithm of a public transportation route search that adds safety and environmental costs according to user preference. As the means of an algorithm application and evaluation, Macro Simulation, VISUM was conducted for an analysis. The route using the subway, which is relatively low in safety and environment resistance value was preferred, and it was analyzed to select the safe and environmental route even though it detours. This study can be applicable when to verify the algorithm of route search considering safety and environment, and when introducing the algorithm of route search according to user preference in the smart-phone application in the future, it can provide users with very useful information by choosing a route as for safety and environment, and through this, the quality of user-friendly information provision can be promoted.

  • In this paper, we propose location-aided cooperative routing protocol (LACARP) for supporting power saving and stable route lifetime in mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks. The main ideas and features of the proposed routing protocol are as follows. First, the definition of the area of route search using location-based information to support power saving transmission. Second, the expect zone-based establishment of routing route within the area of route search. Third, the cooperative-aided transmission method. In the operation of data transmission over the established rout the datas are transmitted via both the established route and cooperative route aided by neighbor nodes. The performance evaluation using OPNET(Optimized Network Engineering Tool) shows the LACARP can improve the packet delivery ratio and power saving transmission efficiently.

  • Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) refer to autonomous networks in which wireless data communications are established between multiple nodes in a given coverage area without a base station or centralized administration. Because of node mobility and limited battery life, the network topology may changes frequently. Selecting the most reliable path during route discovery process is important to improve performance in ad hoc networks. In this paper, an enhanced routing protocol based on AODV(Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing) by monitoring variation of receiving signal strength is proposed. New metric function that consists of node mobility and hops of path is used for routing decision. For preventing route failure by node movement during data transmission, a new route maintenance named as LRC (Local Route Change) is presented. If the node movement is detected, the routing agent switches path to its neighbor node in LRC. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed routing scheme is superior to previous AODY protocol.

  • Researches on method for quantitative analysis applied with decision-making in consideration of variation in risk factors based on GIS(Geographic Information System) concluded as follows. Firstly, by way of decision-making in consideration of variation in risk factors, quantitative analysis performed for the existing route was applied to the new route, which would bring about reliable criteria in route planning and basic design stage. Secondly, horizontal and vertical alignment were easily available out of GIS for relatively speedy design and analysis with three dimensional alignment by decision-making in route planning. Thirdly, automation of route alignment is possible by utilizing quantitative evaluation system established in this research so that a risk analysis can be carried out in a relatively short time. Therefore it will eventually contribute to further development of road design technology.
