Respiration motion causes movement of internal structures in the thorax and abdomen, making accurate delivery of radiation therapy to tumors in those areas a challenge. Accounting for such motion during treatment, therefore, has the potential to reduce margins drawn around the clinical target volume (CTV), resulting in a lower dose to normal tissues (e.g., lung and liver) and thus a lower risk of treatment induced complications. Among the techniques that explicitly account for intrafraction motion are breath-hold, respiration gating, and 4D or tumor-tracking techniques. Respiration gating methods periodically turn the beam on when the patient's respiration signal is in a certain part of the respiratory cycle (generally end-inhale or end-exhale). These techniques require acquisition of some form of respiration motion signal (infrared reflective markers, spirometry, strain gauge, thermistor, video tracking of chest outlines and fluoroscopic tracking of implanted markers are some of the techniques employed to date), which is assumed to be correlated with internal anatomy motion. In preliminary study for the respiratory gating radiation therapy, we performed to measurement of this respiration motion signal. In order to measure the respiratory motion signals of patient, respiration measurement system (RMS) was composed with three sensor (spirometer, thermistor, and belt transducer), 4 channel data acquisition system and mobile computer. For two patients, we performed to evaluation of respiratory cycle and shape with RMS. We observed under this system that respiratory cycle is generally periodic but asymmetric, with the majority of time spent. As expected, RMS traced patient's respiration each other well and be easily handled for application.
This paper is concerned with the characteristics on the statistical parameters of vibration signal from bearing with changing its operating conditions as well as the spreading of faults. The rms, Kurtosis, crest factor, probability of exceedance and probability density function have been chose as the statistical parameters. To characterize of each, vibration signals have been recorded from four ball tester at different loads, operation speeds and time. The values of the statistical parameters for each frequency band have been calculated after A/D conversion and digital filtering of the recorded signals. It has been found that unlike rms values the statistical parameters such as Kurtosis etc. are almost unchanging with the change of the operating conditions such as load and speed. This suggests that the statistical parameters may be used for determining the development of faults independent of the operating conditions. In fact, the statistical parameters deviate considerably from their respective normal values when the faults developed under load conditions in the samples, conforming the suggestion.

7-tonf turbopump real-propellant tests in Naro Space Center were conducted and high-frequency signals from an accelerometer and pressure sensors installed on the casing and the inlet/outlet pipeline of LOX pump were analyzed to estimate the structural and hydrodynamic stabilities. Waterfalls, frequency spectrums and RMS(Root Mean Square) values of the measured signals were calculated and characteristic instability frequencies by the rotating cavitation and the rear floating ring seal(F.R.S) were investigated. Static pressures of the inlet/outlet pipeline and an acceleration of the pump casing are strongly affected on pressure fluctuation induced by the rear floating ring seal in the leakage path. Despite the acceleration RMS value seems totally small, the rotating-speed-related synchronous frequency affecting the shaft instability is distinctly observed in the frequency contour.
On this study, we researched the in-process monitoring during fiber laser welding as well as on the first paper. On the previous/formal study, we analyzed the change of emission signal on thin plate welding. On this study, however, we analyzed RMS and FFT with emission signals in laser welding on lap joint and butt joint of 8mm-thick 316L stainless steel. As the result, the movement of specific frequency peak was observed according to welding speed changes. Furthermore, frequency peak as a result of FFT on the thick plate welding are much clearer than on the thin plate welding. Therefore, it is expected that the welding parameter changes can be predicted in case of applying FFT to in-process monitoring.
This paper describes the characteristics of voltage drop and thermal for poor connection on electrical connector of circuit breaker in control box of small size pulverizer. In order monitor, we did the changes of RMS in voltage and temperature value with video and made normal state over $2.5N{\cdot}m$ and poor connections state below $0.2N{\cdot}m$ by screw gage. In case of voltage signal, the voltage drop was increased when the current was increased due to poor connections. In case of temperature signal, the temperature difference indicates ten times at 5A and fourteen times at 15A in the normal state. According to increase thermal energy, the insulation of electrical wiring and connector of circuit breaker can be carbonized. The results of this study will be useful to the development of preventive devices and system for electric fire by poor connection at small size pulverizer.

The objective of this paper is to develop a fiber-optic acoustic emission(AE) sensor applicable to on-line monitoring systems which is suitable for long-distance signal transmission. An AE sensor was developed by use of a fiber-optic cantilever and an extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer(EEPI). The efficiency of signal processing was improved by driving the high frequency AE signals into the low frequency ones. In order to verify the developed sensor, the tensile and the pencil lead fracture(PLF) tests were performed including the experiment showing the Kaiser effect. Form tests, AE signals were successfully detected in the elastic-plastic deformation range, especially higher signals at the crack propagation. The developed sensor was expected to be used for an on-line monitoring of crack propagation in mechanical system.

The fatigue process of the triceps surae was evaluated during a standing heel-rise test, comparising of pre-fatigue and post-fatigue. Sixteen healthy subjects with a mean age of 22.88 years participated. The heel-rise test was performed until exhaustion, and electromyographic activity expressed as mean value and root mean square of the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles were calculated. The average number of heel-rise performed was 63.69$\pm$26.10. The result of this present study indicate that the EMG signal is sensitive to the different muscle fatigue. Mean value and RMS decreased significantly in after fatigue. Significant difference were found between the pre-fatigue and post-fatigue in the total subjects. But there were no significant changes in mean and RMS between the male and female during standing heel-rise test. The present results, showing decreased EMG signal in the triceps surae, could be used as reference when testing the fatigue process in different clinical conditions. Recommendations for standardization of a heel-rise test are given.

An ECG(Electrocardiogram) compression can increase the processing speed of system as well as reduce amount of signal transmission and data storage of long-term records. Whereas conventional performance evaluations of loss or lossless compression algorithms measure PRD(Percent RMS Difference) and CR(Compression Ratio) in the viewpoint of engineers, this paper focused on the performance evaluations of compression algorithms in the viewpoint of diagnostician who diagnosis ECG. Generally, for not effecting the diagnosis in the ECG compression, the position, length, amplitude and waveform of the restored signal of PQRST wave should not be damaged. AZTEC, a typical ECG compression algorithm, is validated its effectiveness in conventional performance evaluation. In this paper, we propose novel performance evaluation of AZTEC in the viewpoint of diagnostician.
