  • Experimental study was conducted to increase the oxygen transfer efficiency of air diffusers in clean water. By measuring the bubble size from the bubbly two-phase flow visualization with several air diffusers the size of air bubbles near the top surface of aeration tank seems to be independent on the diffuser types. Considering design parameters for the better breakup of larger bubbles around the air diffusers, advanced conceptual air diffusers using nozzle-type throat showing the higher oxygen transfer efficiencies were made.

  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) has been used to image inside concrete specimens embedded with steel bars and delamination. An imaging algorithm has been developed to improve measurement output generated from a commercial radar system. For the experiments, laboratory size concrete specimens are made with the dimensions of $1,000mm(W){\times}1,000mm(L){\times}250mm(D)$. The results have shown improved output of the radar measurements compared to commercially available processing methods.

  • The pressure in RO leads to a concentration difference across the membrane, while the concentration difference in PVAP across the membrane is achieved by applying a vacuum to the downstream compartment. Therefore, it could be possible to compare this two processes using the solution-diffusion mechanism.

  • A novel membrane separation process for the separation of liquid mixture is Pervaporation. The term, 'pervaporation', is a combination of permeation and evaporation, and was first introduced by kober[1] in 1917. In this technique, the liquid mixture in feed is in contact with one side of a dense non-porous membrane and after diffusing through the membrane is removed from the downstream side in the vapor phase, but is usually condensed afterwards to obtain a permeate in liquid from.
