  • Recently, many researchers have studied on RFID with the rapid development of RFID technologies. RFID adapts to many applications. A lot of readers may be deployed in some applications. The incorrect deployment of RFID readers occurs reader-to-reader interferences in many applications using RFID technologies. It causes the significant degradation of the RFID recognition rate. Therefore, it is very important to appropriately deploy the RFID readers in terms of costs and system performance. In this paper, we propose a novel RFID sensor network design system with the minimal RFID readers to cover whole regions when an arbitrary blueprint is given.

  • As the scale of RFID systems grows, decrease in recognition rate of collision between readers is becoming an issue. Time division technique may solve the problem, but this will cause total recognition time to increase. This issue must be solved for real-time inventory control. In this study, total recognition time was improved by placing ARCM in RFID systems. ARCM maintains short recognition time through efficient utilization of frequency channel and manages RFID systems to recognize the tag by avoiding interference. As the result of using ARCM, saving maximum 20% of time was possible.

  • In this paper, we developed the UHF RFID system for EPC Class1 Generation 2 specification. The RFID is a technique of identifying an object using radio frequency transmission. UHF band RFID system communication between Reader and Tag for provide the power to tag when be active when reader’s command finished the transfer. RFID technology can be applied to the supply chain, security, logistics industry and etc. Especially, UHF RFID is worth noticing because of its relatively long identification rage and commercial UHF RFID systems are under development.

  • An RFID system consists of radio frequency tags attached to objects that need to be identified and one or more electromagnetic readers. Unlike the traditional bar code system, the great benefit of RFID technology is that it allows information to be read without requiring contact between the tag and the reader. For this contact-less feature, RFID technology in the near future will become an attractive alternative to bar code in many application fields. In almost all the 13.56MHz RFID systems, FSA (Framed Slot ALOHA) algorithm is used for identifying multiple tags in the reader's identification range. In FSA algorithm, the tag identification time and system efficiency depend mainly on the number of tags and frame size. In this paper, we propose a tag number estimation scheme and a dynamic frame size allocation scheme based on the estimated number of tags.

  • This paper presents a coordinator-based TDMA reader protocol that can avoid the reader collision in a passive RFID system. In the proposed protocol, the coordinator can not only minimize the number of empty slots by efficiently allocating slots to readers incoming in Poisson distribution, but reduce latency time through the limited frame size. The proposed protocol can be implemented in either mobile or fixed mode through the slot structure to be described in the context. The simulation results show it works as suggested and the frame size limitation as well as the statistical distribution of incoming readers has a great impact on the overall slots and the average latency time.

  • In this paper, the forward link of UHF RFID system is modeled in accordance with the EPCglobal class 1 generation 2(EPCglobal C1G2) UHF Radio-Frequency Identity protocol specification at $860{\sim}960MHz$. Based on the constructed model, characteristics on the forward link signal for the EPCglobal C1G2 RFID reader are simulated with the help of a MATLAB softwarein order to extract the design parameters of a transmit digital filter which meets the Korean RFID regulations. Herein, the forward link model is consisted of PIE source coding, transmit digital filter, modulation, local oscillator, and antenna. From the simulation results, the ranges of three design parameters(roll-off factor, cutoff frequency, the number of tabs) for transmit digital filter are obtained with different modulation techniques and the Tari(type a reference interval) values. Finally, DSB/SSB-ASK modulation technique can not satisfy the EPCglobal C1G2 specification when Tari equals to $6.25{\mu}sec$ in a multiple-reader environment. Consequently this paper can provide a guideline for design parameters of a RFID reader as well as the basic scheme of analyzing frequency interference problems in RFID environments, including multiple-reader and dense-reader environments.

  • Due to the recent surge in single-person households, solitary death is drawing attention as an important social problem. We herein develop an adaptive monitoring system using RFID to protect the socially disadvantaged who are exposed to the risk of solitary death. The developed system consists of a wearable RFID tag, an RFID reader attached to the residence, and a user monitoring App. The developed system measures the retention time of a user with a wearable tag in a place where a reader is attached. When the retention time exceeds an adaptively determined threshold, an emergency notification is sent to the caregiver. We verify the effectiveness of the designed system by implementing a prototype modeling a residence based on Arduino.

  • Recently, RFID is substituted for bar codes according to advance in the ubiquitous computing environments, but the RFID system has several problems such as security and privacy because it uses radio frequencies. Firstly, unauthorized reader can easily read the ID information of any Tag. Secondly, Attacker can easily fake the legitimate reader using the collected Tag ID information, such as the any legitimate tag. This paper proposed improved RFID authentication protocol based on SSG. SSG is organized only one LFSR and selection logic. Thus SSG is suitable for implementation of hardware logic in system with extremely limited resources such as RFID tag and it has resistance to known various attacks because of output bit stream for the use as pseudorandom generator. The proposed protocol is secure and effective because it is based on SSG.
