A Development of Integrated Operation System of Container Terminals in Ubiquitous Environment using RFID

  • Number of researches on efficient terminal operation system applying RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) are in progress. However, RFID has limitations on tracking and providing accurate positions of containers. In this paper, to enhance the performance of the integrated terminal operation system, an efficient loading management of yard is proposed by applying RFID based RTLS(Real Time Locating System) that provides real time accurate positions of containers. It was found that a group based sequence system is more efficient than the existing individual sequence number system in the container yard In the group based sequence system, the containers in the same group should have similar characteristics such as port of destination(POD), size, weight, etc. In order to run this system, we proposed the parameters to the unspecified N bytes of RFID tag which are specified in ISO 18000 7. And then, we developed an integrated operation system of container terminal using RFID. The proposed system reduces the ship turnaround time in ubiquitous port environments.

  • In this paper, we proposes the design of laundry system for low power and smart management. The low power system configures the network with the RF communication module that turn on/off periodically, power consumption less than operating the module all the time without it toggles. The smart management is RFID Laundry Management System (LMS), in order to provide high services, low operation costs and better monitoring. The proposed system consists of RFID tag, wireless RFID hanger and MFC software. To compare with other existing RFID system, our system was developed as a web application. Therefore, customer can check their cloth status through web page or smartphone devices. RFID reader was designed on hanger to make our system enables reliable running effectively. Some results on the performance of an implementation are presented.

  • Tag가 reader 주변을 정상적으로 오가는 별 형태의 RFID 망을 고려한다. 이 RFID 망에서 주위의 tag를 인식하기 위해 동적으로 프레임에 속한 슬롯의 수를 결정하는 동적 프레임화 및 슬롯화된 ALOHA 기반의 방식을 제안한다. 이 tag 인식 방식은 특징적으로 주위의 tag의 기대 수를 추정하기 위해 R-회고풍 최대 우도 규칙이라 불리는 규칙을 채택하여 이전 R 개의 프레임에서 얻은 관찰 값을 tag의 기대 수의 우도를 최대화하는 과정에 사용한다. 모의 실험 결과는 회고의 깊이를 조금 늘려도 인식 성능이 유의할 만큼 향상됨을 보여준다.

  • Payment and security requirement are playing an increasingly critical role in RFID system, allegedly the core of the ubiquitous, especially in logistics. Therefore, security technology has been playing essential role gradually unlike the past when only the perception of equipment was considered important technology. The current encoding system allows the access only to the user who has the secret key. Many encoding algorithm has been studied to ensure the security of secret key. Security protocol is the most typical way to authorize appropriate user perception by using the data and secret key to proceed the encoding and transmit it to the system in order to confirm the user. However, RFID system which transmits more than dozens of data per second cannot be used if the algorithm and protocol of the existing wired system are used because the performance will degrade as a consequence. Security protocol needs to be designed in consideration of property of RFID and hardware. In this paper, a protocol was designed using SNEP(Sensor Network Encryption Protocol), the security protocol used for the sensor similar to RFID- not the current system used in wired environment- and ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography: oval curve encoding), the encoding algorithm.

Self Localization of Mobile Robot Using UHF RFID Landmark

  • The goal of this paper is to develop a self localization of mobile robot using UHF RFID landmark. We present landmark, a location sensing archetype system that uses UHF Radio Frequency Identification (UHF RFID) technology for locating objects inside buildings. The major advantage of landmark is that it improves the overall accuracy of locating objects by utilizing the concept of reference tags. Based on experimental analysis, we demonstrate that passive UHF RFID is a viable and cost-effective candidate for indoor location sensing. We conduct a series of experiments to evaluate performance of the positioning of the landmark System. In the standard setup, we place RF Reader which has two antennas and 25 tags in our lab. This research uses the assumption-based coordinates (ABC) algorithm[3] for determining the localization of robot. Also, we show how Radio Frequency Identification (UHF RFID) can be used in robot-assisted indoor navigation for the visually impaired. The experiments illustrate that passive UHF RFID tags can act as reliable landmark that trigger local navigation behaviors to achieve global navigation objectives.

  • RFID는 각종 서비스 산업은 물론 물류, 산업 현장, 제조 공장과 물품의 흐름이 있는 곳이면 어디에서나 적용이 가능하여 사회 여러 분야로부터 큰 관심을 받고 있다. 하지만 현재 900Mhz 대역의 RFID에서 사용하는 ISO/IEC 18000-6의 프로토콜에서는 에러검출을 위한 CRC16만을 사용하여, 에러정정능력을 갖추지 못해 그 신뢰성이 떨어질 것으로 여겨진다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 RFID 시스템의 신뢰성 향상을 위해 Reader에서 Tag로의 명령어 및 데이터 전송 시에 콘벌루션 부호를 적용하여 시스템의 신뢰성 향상을 목적으로 하며, 이런한 방식을 적용했을 때와 적용하지 않았을 때의 에러율을 측정 비교하였다.

  • 정보화는 산업, 문화, 환경 등 많은 부분에서 변화와 발전의 원동력이 되었다. 정보화 기술의 가속화를 기반으로 U-시대로 발전하고 있는 현재 우리 사회는 RFID/USN기술을 적용한 산업 및 생활환경의 변화가 요구되고 있는 시점이다. U-city, U-eco, 모니터링시스템, 유통 및 물류의 위치추적 시스템 등 U-IT 발전은 RFID/USN 기술이 핵심이다. 농업분야 즉 농작물 재배부터 생산, 운송, 유통 등 많은 부분에서 RFID/USN기술 적용이 연구되고 있다. 본 연구는 RFID/USN기술 도입 전 후의 농작물이력추적시스템에 대한 사례 분석을 통해 국내 농작물이력추적시스템의 문제점 및 대안을 제시하고, 동시에 RFID/USN기술을 이용한 국내 농산물이력추적 활성화 방안을 제시한다.

  • WG-7 is a stream cipher based on WG Stream Cipher and is designed by Y. Luo, Q. Chai, G. Gong, and X. Lai in 2010. This cipher is designed to implement in low cost and lightweight application such as RFID tags. In this paper, we survey and compare cryptographic module such as stream and block cipher. We can estimate security performance suitable to system.

Optimal Frame Size Allocation Scheme for RFID Systems

  • In RFID System, when multiple tags respond simultaneously, a collision can occur. A method that solves this collision is referred to anti-collision algorithm. Among the existing anti-collision algorithms, static framed slot allocation algorithm is very simple. But when the number of tags is variable, its performance degrades because of the fixed frame size. This paper proposes an optimal frame size allocation scheme that determines the frame size. The proposed scheme is based on the number of collision slots at every frame. According to the simulation results, the tag identification time is faster that of SFSA.
