  • This paper describes the design of a coplanar-stripline(CPS) antenna without via hole in microstrip patch type for 910MHz RFID tags using the HFSS simulator. In order to obtain the simplified fabrication design of the antenna, we have used only an impedance matching network to match the impedance of a RFID-tag chip to that of the antenna, not using bandpass filter(BPF). In advance of the optimized antenna design, we have obtained and shown a good agreement compared with the published antenna for 5.8GHz in order to verify the simulation parameters in the HFSS. Based on the verified simulation parameters in the HFSS, we have designed and optimized the 910MHz-CPS-type microstrip patch antenna. The designed simulation results of the antenna show that the proposed antenna is very proper for RFID tags with the 910MHz center frequency without via hole in the microstrip patch antenna.

  • In this research, we investigate an influence of a reader antenna location in Passive UHF RFID system based Object localization. When the localization system uses stationary RFID reader system, the performances of the system are significantly varied depending on the deployed antenna conditions due to its external environment such as reflection by the ground and obstacles. In this research we deeply study the RF conditions and differentiation with various antenna location. According to the empirical results, the localization system shows the best performance, where the reader antenna locates 1.5m from the target area of interest.

  • In this paper, we introduce a dual coil antenna which is useful for reducing the effects of radio frequency noise in an RFID system. A dual coil antenna is composed of two identical coils that are connected in series. The noise voltages in the two coils almost disappear when they are added because the magnitudes are equal and the polarities are opposite. The noise in an RFID reader with a dual coil antenna was 15 dB lower than that with a single coil antenna.

  • This paper studies on the read rate of UHF-band RFID tag. An RFID tag antenna attached on the high permittivity surface will be detuned that results in deteriorating the read rate. In this study, we investigate that the electrical performance for the tag antenna is detuned due to the ceramic material and the read rate is radically improved after tuning the antenna.

  • Yagi-Uda UHF RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) tag antennas with long reading range have been designed. According to ISO-18000, EIRP(Effective Isotropic Radiation Power) of reader and reader antenna is limited as 36 dBm. Therefore, the gain of a tag antenna should be high enough to extend the reading range. Yagi-Uda antenna has been applied to a UHF RFID tag antenna, and high gain and long reading range have been achieved. Three different of Yagi-Uda UHF antennas have been optimized to achieve the small size with low back-lobe patterns. The sizes, reading ranges and return loss of Yagi-Uda tag antennas are compared and measured.

  • In this paper, we report the design of UHF RFID ceramic antenna using HFSS, one of the widely used RFID design tools. Of the developed antenna system, we analyze its Return Loss using HFSS and its characteristics using Smith Chart methodology. We built the ceramic antenna system based on the HFSS design, and analyzed its performance by measuring the impedence matching and gains using Network Analyzer. We attach the developed prototype to UHF RFID portable terminal, and performed distance measuring for five widely used types of RFID tags to verify the performance of our proposed antenna system.

  • In this paper, a stand-type planar antenna of 900MHz RFID band is designed and fabricated. As the proposed antenna is stand-type use of air permittivity, Bandwidth used ground height at rectangle patch structure and coaxial feed line is widen. Also wideband width can solve problem that RFID tag attached to things happens frequency shift keying phenomenon by liquid, special metal, temperature, humidity etc. Bandwidth of fabricated antenna to VSWR less than 2 is satisfied 11.9% at $890MHz{\sim}1000MHz$. And proposed antenna is circular polarization antenna of operating characteristics that axial ratio is less than 2 and gain is 6dBi.

  • This study has designed a circular polarization antenna for UHF bandwidth RFID reader. As a result of performance test of the antenna designed it is found that return loss (S11) is about -45.529dB at 914MHz, which is relatively small, and antenna gain is about 6.09dBi. It has also been confirmed that $50{\Omega}$ impedance matching is about $50.48{$\Omega}$ and it can be applied to every RFID reader. Therefore, the antenna is designed to have higher gain of circular polarization by improving reception, which is one of the most important parameters of RFID reader and is expected to be extensively used to recognize multi-tag in the distance.

  • This paper shows the key management system in a small metallic cabinet using a small UHF RFID tags. Each key chain with a key has a custom-designed small RFID tag antenna. There are 6 metallic racks in the small cabinet, and each rack can hold 60 key chains. Therefore, the small cabinet can hold 360 key chains with tags. The 360 key chains with RFID tags in a cabinet are recognized by RFID key chain management system. Even though it is hard to recognize 360 tags in the a cabinet, this RFID key management system with small custom designed RFID tags can recognize all the tags in the small cabinet. To read the all the tags, the locations of antennas and tag shapes are optimized. The reading rates based on the bios-version of the reader and the locations of the reader antennas are compared.

  • In this paper, the single coaxial fed and circularly polarized patch antenna for the RFID system in 2.45GHz ISM band has been fabricated. The simulation by HFSS, electro-magnetic field simulator was executed in order to decide the location of feed which is difficult to be analysed. The simulated result has the same tendency as the measured one in the view of input impedance with the variation of feed location. VSWR of fabricated antenna is low($\leq$1.2) even in comparatively high dielectric loss epoxy substrate(FR4), and this value is enough for the application of RFID reader antenna.
