Development of an Reader Framework for Transparency in RFID Reader (RFID 리더 투명성 지원을 위한 리더 프레임워크 개발)

  • More recently, variety RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) readers are produced by RFID equipment manufactures. Although a transmission standard instituted by EPCglobal is proposed for data transmission between the RFID readers and tags, other RFID reader protocols and the communication connection methods are be in use in other RFID companies. To replace or add the RFID readers of an RFID system, the developers should make changes to the core of the application and/or middleware. In this paper, we propose an RFID reader framework which can manage RFID readers without having to make changes the code of the application in environment with the growing number of heterogeneous RFID readers.This framework that sits on the layer between the RFID readers and the applications provides transparency to the RFID readers. Additionally, it can be used for monitoring the state and the property of all connected RFID, and for recording the RFID tag event logs and system logs. By using this framework, heterogeneous readers can be replaced and added without writing additional code in the applications. Consequently the readers can be easily managed and controlled by the RFID system administrator.

  • 최근 이동체 또는 센서 데이터에 대한 연속 질의를 처리하기 위해 다양한 질의 색인 기법들이 연구되고 있다. 그러나 RFID 미들웨어는 이전 연구에서 고려되지 않은 특징이 존재한다. 첫째, 질의 색인에 삽입되는 질의는 Industry, Product, Serial의 세 부분으로 구성되며, 각 값은 범위 값으로 표현될 수 있기 때문에 색인 공간에서 비연속적인 간격의 조각들이 반복해서 나타난다. 둘째, TagID가 가지는 Industry, Product, Serial의 값은 포함관계를 가진다. 즉, 하나의 Industry에 여러 Product가 존재하며, 하나의 Product에 여러 Serial Item이 존재한다. 따라서 이러한 특징을 고려하지 못하는 기존의 질의 색인을 적용하면 다수의 질의 조각을 삽입하게 되어 색인의 성능이 급격히 저하되는 문제점이 있다. 이 논문에서는 RFID 미들웨어의 실시간 필터링 및 컬렉션을 위해서 Tag 스트림에 대한 질의 색인 기법을 제안한다. 이 논문은 ECSpec 필터링 범위의 3단계 계층구조 특징을 고려한 코드 분할(Code Segmented) 도메인을 제시하고 이를 위한 그리드 기반 색인 구조를 제안한다. 또한 ECSpec의 필터링 패턴 특징에 의해 나타나는 질의 조각의 반복 현상을 정의하고 이를 위한 질의 처리 기법을 제시한다.

  • 현재 우리나라는 좁은 국토와 도시 집중화로 인해 급증하고 있는 지하매설물의 체계적인 관리가 어느 때보다 요구되고 있다. 그러나 다른 분야에서 빠르게 진행되고 있는 전산화 및 정보화 작업에 비해 상대적으로 더딘 지리정보체계 구축으로 지하매설물 관리를 위한 정보시스템이 미비한 상태이다. 이는 지리정보체계 구축 방법에 어려움과 소요되는 인력, 비용, 시간 등이 크기 때문으로 판단된다. 본 논문에서는 GPS와 능동형 RFID를 이용한 위치기반 지하매설물 정보시스템의 구현을 기술하고 시뮬레이션하였다. 이 시스템은 GPS NMEA Sentence의 위치정보와 능동형 RFID의 인식정보를 결합한 데이터를 이용하여 정확하고 체계적인 지하매설물 정보 구축이 가능하고, 효율적인 지하매설물 관리를 위한 인터페이스를 제공한다.

  • The use of RFID recently tends to increase and is expected to expand all over the industry and life. However, RFID is much vulnerable to the malign threats such as eavesdropping, replay attack, spoofing attack, location tracking in the process of authentication. In particular, it is difficult to apply authentication protocol used in the other previous system to low-priced RFID tag. After all, this paper suggests the scheme of efficient authentication protocol for RFID privacy protection. Compared to the previous scheme, suggested scheme reinforces the checking process of transmission data and is secure from eavesdropping and spoofing attack. It minimizes the operation work of the tag and is very useful to apply to the low-priced tag. It also has the merit to confirm the efficiency of communication by reducing the communication rounds.

  • After the Davos Forum, the recent 4th Industrial Revolution has become an area of interest to countries around the world. Among the technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, the ubiquitous computing environment requires a convergence environment of various devices, networks, and software technologies, and the RFID technology that identifies objects among the IoT technology fields is applied to all industries and has a competitive edge. Systems to which RFID technology is applied are being used in various industrial fields, especially! It is efficiently used for accurate inventory management and SCM management in the field of distribution and logistics. If the RFID system is built in a cloud-based environment, it will be possible to secure reliability in distribution management in consideration of an effective logistics management system and economic feasibility. This study is a study on the RFID system in a cloud computing environment to reduce the cost of operating or maintaining an application server to improve the economy and reliability.

  • In this paper, a microwave tag system of a frequency-scanning type is proposed with multi-resonators using defected ground structures. While a conventional chip-based RFID stores time-sequential codes, the proposed type achieves pure passive tags by using multi-resonant bits over a frequency range. Moreover, the resonators of the spiral defected ground structures implemented on the back side of transmission lines have advantages of the excellent bandstop characteristics as well as the bit-error avoidance by the re-radiation on normal resonators. The proposed microwave tag is designed with UWB antennas at 3~7 GHz. From the experimental results in an anechoic chamber, it has been verified of the excellent recognitions for various 5-bits identification codes.

Improvement Transmission Reliability between Flight Type Air Node Using Concatenated Single Antenna Diversity (비행형 에어노드의 데이터 전송 신뢰성 향상을 위한 연접 단일 안테나 다이버시티 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a concatenated single antenna diversity system to assure the data transmission reliability between flight type air nodes which move according to their atypical orbit, then analyze its performance. The proposed system achieve a diversity gain using single antenna and a coding gain from convolutional code simultaneously. Simulation result about the bit error rate(BER) of the proposed system shows that its BER performance is about 9.5dB greater than convolutional code at $10^{-4}$ and about 14dB greater than space time block code at $10^{-3}$ which has a full diversity gain. In addition, compared with space time trellis code with diversity gain and coding gain, the proposed system shows the better 4dB at a BER of $10^{-5}$. Therefore, it is necessary that concatenated single antenna diversity should be adopted to the reliable data transmission of flight type air nodes.

  • This paper proposes an identification system based on QR (Quick Response) code for production and disposal information of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Three thousands and five hundreds of electronic devices have replaced and discarded in South Korea in a year, and twenty millions to fifty millions tons of e-wastes have happened throughout the world every year. According to Gartner, market research institution, the number of IoT devices will increase from 2.3 billions in 2013 to 30 billions in 2020, however, the regulations and systems which take into account environment were not prepared. The identification systems for reflecting information of devices, which are produced or discarded, are required to resolve the problem. The proposed identification system based on QR code can store much more massive data such as the producer, product's model, serial number, recycling rate, recovering rate, recyclability rate, recoverability rate than RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification). Also, users can immediately recognize production and disposal information by a QR code application in a smartphone.

  • As construction projects increase their complexity, variety, and scale, various recognition applications (such as RFID, bar-code etc.) have been tried for managing material effectively in construction projects. However, existing recognition applications for construction material management have some limitations that cause additional works (such as attaching RFID tag), additional cost (labor cost, recognition device cost, etc.), and cognitive impairment of workers. Therefore, this study proposed a character recognition technology as an alternative of previous recognition technologies such as RFID, bar-code, etc. The technical feasibility of proposed technology was validated by three recognition tests. Additionally, this study proposed code the structure to manage materials using the character recognition technology. The effects of character recognition technology are presented by comparing with existing RFID-based logistics processes.
