  • This paper proposes an IEEE 802.15.4m compliant TV white-space orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (TVWS)-(OFDM) radio frequency (RF) transceiver that can be adopted in advanced metering infrastructures, universal remote controllers, smart factories, consumer electronics, and other areas. The proposed TVWS-OFDM RF transceiver consists of a receiver, a transmitter, a 25% duty-cycle local oscillator generator, and a delta-sigma fractional-N phase-locked loop. In the TV band from 470 MHz to 698 MHz, the highly linear RF transmitter protects the occupied TV signals, and the high-Q filtering RF receiver is tolerable to in-band interferers as strong as -20 dBm at a 3-MHz offset. The proposed TVWS-OFDM RF transceiver is fabricated using a $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS process, and consumes 47 mA in the Tx mode and 35 mA in the Rx mode. The fabricated chip shows a Tx average power of 0 dBm with an error-vector-magnitude of < 3%, and a sensitivity level of -103 dBm with a packet-error-rate of < 3%. Using the implemented TVWS-OFDM modules, a public demonstration of electricity metering was successfully carried out.

  • In this paper, we investigate array calibration algorithms to derive a further improved version for correcting antenna array errors and RF transceiver errors in CDMA smart antenna systems. The structure of a multi-channel RF transceiver with a digital calibration apparatus and its calibration techniques are presented, where we propose a new RF receiver calibration scheme to minimize interference of the calibration signal on the user signals. The calibration signal is injected into a multi-channel receiver through a calibration signal injector whose array response vector is controlled in order to have a low correlation with the antenna response vector of the receive signals. We suggest a model-based antenna array calibration to remove the antenna array errors including mutual coupling errors or to predict the element patterns from the array manifold measured at a small number of angles. Computer simulations and experiment results are shown to verify the calibration algorithms.

  • This paper deals with performance degradations caused by RF I/Q impairments such as amplitude mismatch and phase mismatch in W-CDMA user equipment which uses QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation. The impacts of I/Q impairments on the BER(Bit Error Rate) are analyzed by using the variations of adjacent symbol distance. The BER versus amplitude mismatch and phase mismatch with QPSK constellation is reviewed through Matlab simulation. Performance degradation produced by RF I/Q impairments is measured with the implemented RF transceiver and modulation/demodulation test equipments through EVM(Error Vector Magnitude). The minimum performance requirements of amplitude mismatch and phase mismatch in W-CDMA user equipment are presented from the point of hardware implementation and the test method of the impairments is also included.

  • In this paper, we design the physical layer of Guardian modem for wireless public networks. The physical layer is composed of a dual-band RF (Radio Frequency) transceiver and a baseband-processor with quasi-orthogonal codes. The 2.4/5GHz dual-band RF transceiver can overcome the communication difficulty of dense 2.4GHz band for wireless public environment. Also the quasi-orthogonal code can reduce the required ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) design area. Finally, we analyze the performance of the developed system in viewpoint of data rate, BER (Bit Error Rate), PER (Packet Error Rate). Moreover we verify the performance of the dual-band RF communication.

  • This paper presents a study on the subject for the design and implementation of high-speed frequency hopping RF transceiver used for tactical communications systems. Jump the transmission / reception frequency of the L-band to hop tens per second is possible by maximizing the immunity to interference, and is applicable to communication systems having a charging rotation function. To high-speed frequency hopping it is necessary to apply the necessary fast frequency hopping scheme DDS Driven PLL added. In this paper, the RF transceiver design and simulation analysis capabilities with fast frequency tactical communication systems, were implemented after the main test for functionality and performance. Was demonstrated hop high-speed jump tens per second through a test, the main transmission output, were measured RF key performance, such as received noise figure, by using the VSG and VSA generates a ${\pi}/4$ DQPSK modulated signal constellation and by EVM measurement that there is no problem in applying the communications system described above was pre-validated.

  • In this paper, we propose a digital transceiver unit design for in-building of 5G optical repeaters that extends the coverage of 5G mobile communication network services and connects to a stable wireless network in a building. The digital transceiver unit for driving the proposed 5G optical repeater is composed of 4 blocks: a signal processing unit, an RF transceiver unit, an optical input/output unit, and a clock generation unit. The signal processing unit plays an important role, such as a combination of a basic operation of the CPRI interface, a 4-channel antenna signal, and response to external control commands. It also transmits and receives high-quality IQ data through the JESD204B interface. CFR and DPD blocks operate to protect the power amplifier. The RF transmitter/receiver converts the RF signal received from the antenna to AD, is transmitted to the signal processing unit through the JESD204B interface, and DA converts the digital signal transmitted from the signal processing unit to the JESD204B interface and transmits the RF signal to the antenna. The optical input/output unit converts an electric signal into an optical signal and transmits it, and converts the optical signal into an electric signal and receives it. The clock generator suppresses jitter of the synchronous clock supplied from the CPRI interface of the optical input/output unit, and supplies a stable synchronous clock to the signal processing unit and the RF transceiver. Before CPRI connection, a local clock is supplied to operate in a CPRI connection ready state. XCZU9CG-2FFVC900I of Xilinx's MPSoC series was used to evaluate the accuracy of the digital transceiver unit for driving the 5G optical repeater proposed in this paper, and Vivado 2018.3 was used as the design tool. The 5G optical repeater digital transceiver unit proposed in this paper converts the 5G RF signal input to the ADC into digital and transmits it to the JIG through CPRI and outputs the downlink data signal received from the JIG through the CPRI to the DAC. And evaluated the performance. The experimental results showed that flatness, Return Loss, Channel Power, ACLR, EVM, Frequency Error, etc. exceeded the target set value.

Also we measured system performance by transmitting baseband data in a building and then we compared the demodulated 긴ta bits with stored data bits in a PC connected with demodulator. The RF module in the experiments works oかy in the bandwidth, 424MHz - 429MHz. with FM mode. The signal level degrades as the distance between transmitter and receiver increases we measured the signal level and bit error in the building of engineering college of our university. we present the measured data with various locations in the building. and the data may be used in design short distance network in a building.

  • In this paper, we show the implementation of the low-cost RF transceiver module for parking control system. Super regenerative receiver scheme was adopted for this module due to its simplicity, low-cost, low power consumption and small number of components to improve reliability of the systems. For improving communication error rate by collision and in-band noise, dual-channel hopping scheme was adopted. Testing prototypes under the environment of simultaneous transmissions, we verified that the designed scheme is able to improve the success rate of data transmission of wireless parking control system cost effectively.
