  • This paper presents a novel defect detection method for one chip RF front end with fault detection circuits using input matching measurement. We present a BIST circuit using 40.25{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. We monitor the input transient voltage of the RF front end to differentiate faulty and fault-free RF front end. Catastrophic as well as parametric variation fault models are used to simulate the faulty response of the RF front end. This technique has several advantages with respect to the standard approach based on current test stimulus and frequency domain measurement. Because DUT and fault detection circuits are implemented in the same chip, this test technique only requires use of digital voltmeter (RMS meter) and RF voltage source generator for simpleand inexpensive testing.

  • In order that multiple wideband RF transmitters which have mission to deliver essential information to aircraft operate at the same time, RF transmitter has a variable sub-carrier frequency to modulate the signal. In case of exposure to weak environment, Wide-band RF transmitter is designed to check component of transmitter that includes antenna BIT to increase system reliability. Normally, Antenna BIT measure the reflection RF power of antenna to check system condition. However, Antenna BIT has a difference that depends on testing frequency to use the long RF cable which is located between the power amp and the antenna. The periodic phenomenon of the reflected antenna power are theoretically explained about dependence on the RF cable length. Based on presented result, suggested measurement methods is effectively able to be applied to diagnosis system condition.

  • KIRAMS-13, the first medical cyclotron developed by domestic technique, is used to produce radio-isotope such as $^{18}F$ whose life time is relatively short through test operation. For high-power operation of charged particle accelerators, the power coupler must withstand enormous stresses due to charging induced by high RF power passing through. High-power RF testing with peak power in excess of 30kW has been performed on prototype power coupler for KIRAMS-13 normal conducting cavities. CST MICROWAVE STUDIO(CST MWS) is used for fundamental RF Design, and power coupler is manufactured according to fundamental power coupler design requisite. The qualification of the couplers has occurred for the time being only in a limited set of conditions as the available RF system and control instrumentation are under improvement.

  • An rf triode magnetron sputtering system is designed and installed its construction in vacuum chamber. In order to calibrate the rf triode magnetron sputtering for thin films deposition processes, the effects of different glow discharge conditions were investigated in terms of the deposition rate measurements. The basic parameters for calibrating experiment in this sputtering system are rf power input, gas pressure, plasma current, and target-to-substrate distance. Because a knowledge of the deposition rate is necessary to control film thickness and to evaluate optimal conditions which are an important consideration in preparing better thin films, the deposition rates of copper as a testing material under the various sputtering conditions are investigated. Furthermore, a triode sputtering system designed in our team is simulated by the SIMION program. As a result, it is sure that the simulation of electron trajectories in the sputtering system is confined directly above the target surface by the force of E${\times}$B field. Finally, some teats with the above 4 different sputtering conditions demonstrate that the deposition rate of rf triode magnetron sputtering is relatively higher than that of the conventional sputtering system. This means that the higher deposition rate is probably caused by a high ion density in the triode and magnetron system. The erosion area of target surface bombarded by Ar ion is sputtered widely on the whole target except on both magnet sides. Therefore, the designed rf triode magnetron sputtering is a powerful deposition system.

  • Ever increasing demand for microwave operated applications has cultivated need for high-performance universal systems capable of working on multi-bands. This objective can be realized using Multi-Dielectrics in RF MEMS capacitive switch. In this study, we present a detailed analysis of the effect of various dielectrics on switch performance. The design consists of a capacitive switch and performance is analyzed by changing the dielectric layers beneath the switch. The results are obtained using three different dielectrics including Silicon nitride (7.6), Hafnium dioxide (25) and Titanium oxide (50). Testing of proposed switch yields high isolation (- 87.5 dB) and low insertion loss (- 0.1 dB at 50 GHz) which is substantially better than the conventional switches. The operating bandwidth of the proposed switch (DC to 95 GHz) makes it suitable for wide band microwave applications.

  • Recently, gamma radiographic equipments have been used about 1,000 sets manually and operated by about 2,500 persons in Korea. In order for a radiography to work effectively with avoiding any hazard of the high level radiation from the source, many field workers have expected developing a wireless automatic remote exposure controller. The KlTCO research team has developed an automatic remote exposure controller that can regulate the speed of $0.4{\sim}1.2m/s$ by BLDC motor of 24V 200W which has output of $54kgf{\cdot}cm$, suitable torque and safety factor for the work. And the developed automatic remote exposure controller can control rpm of motor, pigtail position by photo-sensor and exposure time by timer to RF sensor. Thus, the developed equipment is expected that the unit can be used in many practical applications with benefits in economical advantage to combine the use of both automatic and manual type because attachment is possible existent manual remote exposure controller, AC and DC combined use.

  • Increased exposure of human to RF fields has raised concerns for its potential adverse effects on our health. To address the biological effects of RF radiation, we used genome wide gene expression as the indicator. We exposed normal WI-38 human fibroblast cells to 1763 MHz mobile phone RF radiation at a specific absorption rate (SAR) of 60 W/kg with an operating cooling system for 24 h. There were no alterations in cell numbers or morphology after RF exposure. Through microarray analysis, we identified no differentially expressed genes (DEGs) at the 0.05 significance level after controlling for multiple testing errors with the Benjaminiochberg false discovery rate (BH FDR) method. Meanwhile, 82 genes were differentially expressed between RF-exposed cells and controls when the significance level was set at 0.01 without correction for multiple comparisons. We found that 24 genes (0.08% of the total genes examined) were changed by more than 1.5-fold on RF exposure. However, significant enrichment of any gene set or pathway was not observed from the functional annotation analysis. From these results, we did not find any evidence that non-thermal RF radiation at a 60-W/kg SAR significantly affects cell proliferation or gene expression in WI-38 cells.

  • In this paper, we introduce a testbed for testing the RF energy transfer technology in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment, and provide experimental results obtained by using the testbed. The IoT environment considered in this paper consists of a power beacon, which is able to wirelessly transfers energy via microwave, and multiple sensor nodes, which makes use of the energy received from the power beacon. We have implemented the testbed to experiment the RF energy transfer in such IoT environment. We have used off-the-shelf hardware components to build the testbed and have made the tesbed controlled by software so that various energy and data transmission protocol experiments can easily be conducted. We also provide experimental results and discuss the future research direction.

  • This study was attempted to investigate the effects of adding gelatinized waxy rice flour, wheat flour, and Xanthan Gum to rice flour on the preparation and (quality) of dried noodles. 1) Rice flour demonstrated higher maximum viscosity value as determined by Amylograph than wheat flour. Among the composite flour mixture (Rice Flour 85+Gelatinized Waxy Rice Flour 15 + Xanthan Gum 2%) showed the highest viscosity value and (RF 35+ GWRF 15 + Wheat Flour 50) had the lowest. (RF 35 + GWRF 15 +WF 50) demonstrated gelatinization characteristics which is quite similar to that of wheat flour. 2) Forty and 50% replacement of rice flour and gelatinized waxy rice flour (15%) mixture by wheat flour improved significantly noodle making characteristics and cooking quality of noodles. 3) The addition of 2% XG to (RF 45 + GWRF 15 + WF 40) was effective on noodle making properties and on binding properties of cooked noodles. 4) The cooked noodle made of composite flour (RF 45 + GWRF 15 + WF 40 + XG 2%) received the highest total sensory evaluation score among the testing samples, and it was not significantly different from that of wheat flour.
