  • Cavity tone is generated due to the feedback between flow and acoustic wave. It is recognized that the period is determined by the time required for the flow convection in one direction, the time required for the acoustic propagation in the other direction and the time for phase shift depending on the flows and mode. Most of the phenomena have been investigated by experiments and a simple but fundamental theory. But the cause of the phase shift and the correctness of the theory have not been clearly explained so far. In this paper, the phenomena are calculated numerically to obtain detail information of flow and acoustic wave to explain the mechanism including the phase. High order high resolution scheme of optimized high order compact is used to resolve the small acoustic quantities and large flow quantities at the same time. The data are reduced using cross correlation function in space and time and cross spectral density function which has phase information. Abrupt change in pressure near corner in cavity is observed and is relate to phase variation. The time required for the feedback between the flow and acoustic wave is calculated after the numerical simulation f3r various modes. The periods based on the time calculated using the above method and direct observation from the acoustic waves generated and propagated in the numerical simulation are compared. It is found that no phase shift is required if we examine the time required carefully. Rossiter's formula for the cavity tone used for quick estimation needs to be modified far some modes.

  • Although the number of computed tomography(CT) is increasing every year, it is insufficient to establish appropriate workload calculation standards of radiologic technologist to provide optimal medical services to patients, such as patient safety management and infection management. The purpose of this study is to present guidelines for calculating the appropriate workload of radiologic technologist by analyzing the work flow of CT procedures and the time required for CT examination in major hospitals. As for the study subjects and methods, the appropriate process for each step of CT examination was investigated to systematically present the process and time required for the actual examination, and the CT procedure time of 104,105 adult patients and 465 pediatric patients under the age of 6 were analyzed. For the time required, data according to the use of contrast medium, procedure type, and adult/child were collected and compared. The test time of CT examination using contrast medium took about 13 minutes when one radiologic technologist worked and about 9 minutes when two radiologic technologists worked. The time required for the procedures were statistically significant depending on the presence or absence of contrast medium, multi-phase procedure, and patient age (considering pediatric patients). As a result, in order to thoroughly perform patient safety and infection management, the appropriate workload increased by about 40% when there were two radiologic technologists. The limit workload was an average of 32 people per day with one radiologic technologist per 15 minutes, and 48 people per day with two radiologic technologist per 10 minutes. This is a marginal workload, and in the case of procedures that require more time to acquire radiographic images, the interval between reservations should be widened.

  • Currently, the method of loading items in the warehouse, the worker directly decides the loading location, and the most used method is to load the product at the location closest to the entrance. This can be effective when there is no difference in the required amount for goods, but when there is a difference in the required amount for goods, it is inefficient because items with a small required amount are loaded near the entrance and occupy the corresponding space for a long time. Therefore, in order to minimize the release time of goods, it is essential to select an appropriate location when loading goods. In this study, a method for determining the loading location by predicting the required amount of goods was studied to select the optimal loading location. Deep learning based bidirectional long-term memory networks (Bi-LSTM) was used to predict the required amount for goods. This study compares and analyzes the release time of goods in the conventional method of loading close to the entrance and in the loading method using the required amount for goods using the Bi-LSTM model.

  • This study has focused on the possibility for recycling of tailings from the Sangdong tungsten mine as powder of superfluidity self-compacting concrete. The experimental tests for slump-flow, time required to reach 500mm of slump flow(sec), time required to flow through V-funnel(sec) and filling height of U-box test(mm) were carried out in accordance with the specified by the Japanese Society of Civil Engineering(JSCE). The result of this study, in case of superfluidity self-compacting concrete mixed with tailings, slump-flow was decreased with increasing mixing ratio. But time required to reach 500mm of slump flow(sec), time required to flow through V-funnel(sec) and filling height of U-box test(mm) were satisfied a prescribed range.

  • Due to the imbalanced vibration of the adjacent buildings, the pounding phenomenon occurs as a result of an insufficient gap between them. Providing enough gap between adjacent structures is the most efficient approach to preventing the pounding effect. This paper calculated the required separation gaps between adjacent buildings, including two, four, eight, twelve and twenty stories steel moment-resisting frames, and investigated their related influencing parameters such as time periods, damping ratios, and the number of bays. The linear and nonlinear dynamic time-history analyses under real seismic event records were conducted to calculate the required separation gaps by obtaining relative displacement and velocity functions of two adjacent frames. The results showed that the required separation gap increased when the time periods of adjacent frames were not the same. The resulting separation gaps values of linear and nonlinear analyses were similar only for two and four stories frames. In other frames, the resulting separation gap values of linear analyses surpassed the corresponding nonlinear analyses. Although increasing the damping ratios in adjacent frames causes a decrease in the required separation gaps, the number of bays had no significant effect on them.

  • This paper has done a hardware-based approach to increase the modulation index in 3-phase inverters, unlike the conventional software algorithm-based approaches. The minimum required time to measure the currents in a three-phase inverters with shunt resistors has also been analyzed. By the analysis, the longest time in minimum required time is AD conversion time. To shorten the minimum required time, this paper proposed a sample-and-hold(S/H) circuit implemented at the inverter current signal output to retain the current signal. When the linear operation region of an inverter with S/H was compared with that without it, the modulation index was increased by 7.8 %. Inverters with S/H circuits can employ the traditional software algorithms, such as the voltage injection method or current restoration method, and it will yield further increase the modulation index.

  • The research is carried out to analyze the cost-effectiveness of blasting patterns with regard to the diameters and design of blasting holes. Blasting patterns for single diameter array, and mixed diameter array were comparatively analyzed with regard to drilling and charging time, and materials required. The number of blasting holes required for single array pattern and mixed array pattern were 138 and 93 holes, respectively. From the drilling time analysis, reduction in time and its efficiency of mixed pattern were 139 minutes and 25%, respectively, in comparison with single pattern. Charging time reduction and its efficiency of mixed blasting pattern were evaluated as 22.5 minutes per worker and 33%, respectively, compare to single blasting pattern. The explosive quantities of G1 and G2 required for single array patterns were 270 and 30, while those were 222 and 20 for mixed array patterns for tunnelling 4m. And single pattern required 45 more detonators than the mixed pattern. The evaluation of material required can also be positive parameter for cost reduction of tunnel construction.

  • In this paper, we study to evaluate the relative time required to perform the CT scanning in the PACS versus a film-based system and helical versus non-helical studies. Time studies were performed in 175 consecutive CT scanning. Images from 85 examinations were electronically transferred to a PACS, and 90 were printed to film. The time required to obtain and electronically transfer the images or print the images to film and make the current and previous studies available to the radiologists for interpretation was recorded. The time required for a radiological technologist to complete a CT test was reduced by 43% with the PACS compared with the film-based system and nonhelical was reduced 10~20% with helical studies. This reduction was due to the elimination of a transfer and printing, such as the printing at window or level settings. The use of PACS can result in the elimination of time tasks for the radiological technologist, resulting in marked reduction in examination time. This reduction can result in decreased cost and increased productivity in PACS operation.
