  • This article introduces ADAPT Corporation's latest software product for the integrated multistory analysis and design of concrete buildings, ADAPT Edge. Edge uniquely packages user-friendly modeling of multistory buildings, accurate gravity and lateral analysis, post-tensioning, and detailed slab and beam design, all in one software package. The benefits of Edge over traditional concrete design software are explained.

  • Recently, as RC flat plate system is applied on high-rising building largely, necessity of all over research about lateral performance becomes a prominent. In this paper, It is estimated that performance of slab-column connection in flat plate system is inter-story drift index 3.6%. In addition, when R-factor is fixed in seismic design, it must be considered all system. Also Considering that plastic hinge propagation is not adjustable, R-factor should be applied bellow '5.5'.

재생 PET 섬유가 보강된 RC 슬래브의 구조성능 평가 (Structural Performance Evaluation of Recycled PET Fiber Reinforced RC Slab)

  • 본 연구는 재생 PET 섬유의 구조보강성능을 규명하기 위한 연구의 일환으로 수행되었다. 재생 PET 섬유의 구조보강성능을 규명하기 위하여 철근 콘크리트 슬래브 부재를 제작하여 휨 성능을 수행하고 기존 합성섬유인 PP 섬유와 합성섬유를 혼입하지 않은 Plain 시편과 비교하였으며, 또한 섬유의 혼입율에 따른 거동을 평가하였다. 실험결과 압축강도는 섬유의 혼입율이 증가할수록 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며 감소 비율은 약 2~7%정도로 나타났다. 휨 실험결과로부터 Plain 시편의 극한성능이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 에너지 흡수 능력과 연성지수는 재생 PET 섬유를 0.5% 혼입한 시편이 가장 우수한 것으로 평가되었다. 보 시편에 적용한 경우에는 Plain 시편에 비해 연성능력 뿐 아니라 극한성능도 증가되는 것으로 나타났으나 슬래브 시편의 경우 연성능력은 증가되나 극한성능이 감소하는 것을 확인 할 수 있어 보 시편에 비해 상대적으로 보강효과가 적게 나타나고 있다. 따라서 슬래브 구조물에 적용할 경우에는 배합과 혼입량을 적절히 사용해야 할 것으로 사료된다.

  • SMART Frame is a composite precast concrete structure system to deliver the advantages of both steel frame and reinforced concrete. Many studies have established to date that SMART Frame is more advantageous than conventional frame-type structure in terms of structural stability, constructability, economic viability as well as reduction of construction schedule. However, such studies have focused primarily on wall-type or flat slab-type apartment housing structures, failing to include Rahmen structures in their scope. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the benefits of potential application of SMART Frame to RC Rahmen structures. As the structural stability and constructability of SMART Frame is already proven, this study reviews its benefits from the perspective of cost reduction. Conclusion of this study will be used subsequently in predicting the benefits of SMART Frame when it is adapted to RC Rahmen structures.

전산수치해석을 이용한 일방향 철근콘크리트 부재의 폭발 실험결과 분석 (Experimental Data Analysis using Computational Numerical Analysis on the Response of One-way Reinforced Concrete Slab under Blast Loading)

  • A few blast experiments are conducted to investigate the behavior of one-way reinforced concrete(RC) slabs under blast loading. Reflected blast characteristics as well as displacements and damage patterns of RC slabs are measured. Numerical models are also established in the software ANSYS AUTODYN to reproduce the experiments on RC slabs. The numerical models are distinguished from each other by different boundary conditions at the edges of RC slabs, which are assumed to reproduce displacements and damage patterns resulted from the experiments. The boundary condition of the experimental tests is estimated from the numerical simulation results. From the numerical simulation results, the boundary condition should be improved in order to measure the accurate maximum displacement in the experimental tests.

  • The so-called Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis on reinforced concrete bridge can provide useful information for initial design and maintenance plan of the RC bridge. This paper proposes an LCC prediction equation and a sensitivity analysis method for RC bridges. An LCC equation for the RC bridge which includes initial investment cost, maintenance cost, and demolition cost was derived and verified from the data for design and construction of an RC slab bridge. In order to solve uncertainty problem on actual discount rate and material characteristics in the analysis of LCC of concrete bridges, a sensitivity analysis method on the LCC using the Monte Carlo simulation technique was suggested.

  • The reinforced concrete slab is one of main structure members in the construction industry sector. However, most of researches regarding to RC slabs have been focused on two-dimensional Mindlin-type plate element on the basis of laminated plate theory since three-dimensional solid element has a lot of difficulties in finite element formulation and costs in CPU time. In reality, the RC slabs are subjected to dynamic loads like a heavy traffic vehicle load, and thus should insure the safety from the static load as well as dynamic load. Once we can estimate the dynamic behaviour of RC slabs exactly, it will be very helpful for design of it. In this study, the 20-node solid element has been used to analyze the dynamic characteristics of RC slabs with clamped edges. The elasto-visco plastic model for material non-linearity and the smeared crack model have been adopted in the finite element formulation. The applicability of the proposed finite element has been tested for dynamic behaviour of RC slabs with respect to characteristics of concrete materials in terms of cracking stress, crushing strain, fracture energy and Poisson's ratio. The effect on dynamic behaviour is dependent on not crushing strain but cracking stress, fracture energy and Poisson's ratio. In addition to this, it is shown the damping phenomenon of RC slabs has been identified from the numerical results by using Rayleigh damping.

Slab slenderness effect on the punching shear failure of heat-damaged reinforced concrete flat slabs with different opening configurations and flexural reinforcement areas

  • Punching shear is a brittle failure that occurs within the RC flat slabs where stresses are concentrated within small regions, resulting in a catastrophic and unfavorable progressive collapse. However, increasing the slab slenderness ratio is believed to significantly affect the slab's behavior by the induced strain values throughout the slab depth. This study examines the punching shear behavior of flat slabs by the nonlinear finite element analysis approach using ABAQUS software, where 72 models were investigated. The parametric study includes the effect of opening existence, opening-to-column ratio (O/C), temperature level, slenderness ratio (L/d), and flexural reinforcement rebar diameter. The behavior of the punching shear failure was fully examined under elevated temperatures which was not previously considered in detail along with the combined effect of the other sensitive parameters (opening size, slab slenderness, and reinforcement rebar size). It has been realized that increasing the slab slenderness has a major role in affecting the slab's structural behavior, besides the effect of the flexural reinforcement ratio. Reducing the slab's slenderness from 18.27 to 5.37 increased the cracking load by seven times for the slab without openings compared to nine times for the initial stiffness value. In addition, the toughness capacity is reduced up to 80% upon creating an opening, where the percentage is further increased by increasing the opening size by about an additional 10%. Finally, the ultimate deflection capacity of flat slabs with an opening is increased compared to the solid slab with the enhancement being increased for openings of larger size, larger depths, and higher exposure temperature.

앵글을 전단연결재로 사용하는 합성보의 휨성능 (Flexural Capacity of the Composite Beam using Angle as a Shear Connector)

  • 본 연구에서는 앵글을 전단연결재로 사용하여 합성보의 휨성능을 실험적으로 조사하였다. 실험의 주요변수는 앵글의 크기와 간격 및 콘크리트가 합성 전과 합성 후의 휨에 대한 전체적인 거동을 실험적으로 검증하였다. 또한 중공PC슬래브와 일반RC슬래브와 같이 사용하였을 때의 휨성능을 비교하였다. 이를 종합적으로 판단하면, 앵글을 전단연결재로 사용한 합성보의 휨성능은 앵글의 간격을 적절하게 배치시키면 예상내력보다 25-55% 이상의 공칭내력을 보유하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 예상한 바와 같이, 합성보의 내력에 미치는 앵글의 변수를 살펴보면 앵글의 크기가 클수록 앵글의 간격이 좁을수록 합성보의 내력이 상승함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 중공PC슬래브에서도 앵글을 사용한 합성보의 성능이 잘 발휘됨을 실험적으로 검증하였다.

시공하중 및 균열 효과를 고려한 플랫 플레이트의 장기 처짐에 대한 변수 연구 (Parametric Study on Long-Term Deflections of Flat Plates Considering Effects of Construction Loads and Cracking)

  • 보에 의해 지지되지 않는 RC 플랫 플레이트는 강도 조건이 아닌 사용성의 지배를 받을 수 있다. 특히, 양생 초기의 슬래브에 발생하는 과하중과 인장 균열은 시공 중 플랫 플레이트에 심각한 처짐을 발생시키며, 시공 순서와 슬래브 처짐의 영향은 플랫 플레이트에서 중요한 요소이다. 이 연구에서는 시공단계, 콘크리트의 균열 및 장기처짐 효과를 고려하여 슬래브의 처짐을 산정한다. 제안된 방법을 사용하여 플랫 플레이트의 처짐에 대한 변수연구가 실시되었다. 슬래브의 시공주기, 동바리 지지층수, 인장 및 압축철근, 콘크리트 강도, 시공 활하중, 슬래브 두께를 변수로 하여, 시공 중 즉시처짐과 시공 완료 후 장기처짐에 대하여 조사하였다. 산정 결과는 건축구조설계기준에서 제시된 사용성 제한값과 비교하였다.
