Tracking Control for Robot Manipulators based on Radial Basis Function Networks

  • Neural networks are known as kinds of intelligent strategies since they have learning capability. There are various their applications from intelligent control fields; however, their applications have limits from the point that the stability of the intelligent control systems is not usually guaranteed. In this paper we propose a neuro-adaptive controller for robot manipulators using the radial basis function network(RBFN) that is a kind of a neural network. Adaptation laws for parameters of the RBFN are developed based on the Lyapunov stability theory to guarantee the stability of the overall control scheme. Filtered tracking errors between the actual outputs and desired outputs are discussed in the sense of the uniformly ultimately boundedness(UUB). Additionally, it is also shown that the parameters of the RBFN are bounded. Experimental results for a SCARA-type robot manipulator show that the proposed neuro-adaptive controller is adaptable to the environment changes and is more robust than the conventional PID controller and the neuro-controller based on the multilayer perceptron.

  • Based on a field-oriented model of induction motor, adaptive backstepping approach using neural network(RBFN) is proposed for the control of induction motor in this paper. In order to achieve the speed regulation with the consideration of avoiding singularity and improving power efficiency, rotor angular speed and flux amplitude tracking objectives are formulated. rotor resistance uncertainty is compensated by adaptive backstepping and mechanical lumped uncertainty such as load torque disturbance, inertia moment, friction by RBFN. Simulation is provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • In this study, we developed RBFN(Radial Basis Function Networks) based load modeling method with harmonic components. The developed method considers harmonic information as well as fundamental frequency and voltage considered as essential factors in conventional method. Thus, the reposed method makes it possible to effectively estimate load characteristics in power lines with harmonics. RBFN has some advantage such as simple structure and rapid computation ability compared with multi-layer perceptorn which is extensively applied for load modeling. To verify the effectiveness, the proposed method has been intensively tested with various dataset acquired under the different frequency and voltage and compared it with conventional methods such as polynomial method, MLPN and RBFN with no harmonic components.

  • This paper presents a method of recognizing high impedance fault(HIF) of electrical power systems and classifying fault patterns based on chaos attractors. Two dimensional chaos attractors are reconstructed from neutral point current waveforms. Reliable features for HIF pattern classification are obtained from the chaos attractors. Radial basis function network, trained with two types of HIF data generated by the electromagnetic transient program and measured form actual faults. The RBFN successfully classifies normal and the three types of fault patterns according to the features generated from the chaos attractors.

  • In this paper, the hybrid system of HMM and neural network is proposed and show better recognition rate of the post-process procedure which minimizes the process error of recognition than that of HMM(Hidden Markov Model) only used. After the HMM training by training data, testing data that are not taken part in the training are sent to HMM. The output probability from HMM output by testing data is used for the training data of the neural network, post processor. After neural network training, the hybrid system is completed. This hybrid system makes the recognition rate improvement of about $4.5\%$ in MLP and about $2\%$ in RBFN and gives the solution to training time of conventional hybrid system and to decrease of the recognition rate due to the lack of training data in real-time speech recognition system.

Indirect Adaptive Control of Nonlinear Systems Using a EKF Learning Algorithm Based Wavelet Neural Network (확장 칼만 필터 학습 방법 기반 웨이블릿 신경 회로망을 이용한 비선형 시스템의 간접 적응 제어)

  • In this paper, we design the indirect adaptive controller using Wavelet Neural Network(WNN) for unknown nonlinear systems. The proposed indirect adaptive controller using WNN consists of identification model and controller. Here, the WNN is used in both Identification model and controller The WNN has advantage of indicating the location in both time and frequency simultaneously, and has faster convergence than MLPN and RBFN. There are several training methods for WNN, such as GD, GA, DNA, etc. In this paper, we present the Extended Kalman Filter(EKF) based training method. Although it is computationally complex, this algorithm updates parameters consistent with previous data and usually converges in a few iterations. Finally, ore illustrate the effectiveness of our method through computer simulations for the Buffing system and the one-link rigid robot manipulator. From the simulation results, we show that the indirect adaptive controller using the EKF method has better performance than the GD method.

Design of the Structure for Scaling-Wavelet Neural Network Using Genetic Algorithm (유전 알고리즘을 이용한 스케일링-웨이블릿 복합 신경회로망 구조 설계)

  • RBFN has some problem that because the basis function isn't orthogonal to each others the number of used basis function goes to big. In this reason, the Wavelet Neural Network which uses the orthogonal basis function in the hidden node appears. In this paper, we propose the composition method of the actual function in hidden layer with the scaling function which can represent the region by which the several wavelet can be represented. In this method, we can decrease the size of the network with the pure several wavelet function. In addition to, when we determine the parameters of the scaling function we can process rough approximation and then the network becomes more stable. The other wavelets can be determined by the global solutions which is suitable for the suggested problem using the genetic algorithm and also, we use the back-propagation algorithm in the learning of the weights. In this step, we approximate the target function with fine tuning level. The complex neural network suggested In this paper is a new structure and important simultaneously in the point of handling the determination problem in the wavelet initialization.
