A Study on Analysis of vortex and Wave Screening Performance for Fixed-Floating Breakwater According to Cross section (단면형상 변화에 따른 고정된 부유식방파제의 유동장 분석과 소파성능에 관한 연구)

  • 기존의 착저식 방파제를 보완하기 위하여 부유식 방파제가 개발되었고, 많은 연구가 선행되어 왔다. 부유식 방파제의 최대 장점은 경제성과 친환경성이다. 그러나 부유식 방파제는 소파성능이 떨어진다는 단점이 있으며, 이를 개선하기 위해 잠재와 혼용, 배열형에 관한 연구등이 선행되어왔다. 그러나 이것은 경제성이라는 강점을 고려하지 못하였다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 부유식 방파제의 중요한 장점중 하나인 경제성을 고려해, 단면현상 변화만을 이용하여 부유식 방파제의 소파성능 개선하고자 하였다. RANS(Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes) 방정식에 기초하여 VOF법과 $k-{\varepsilon}$ 난류모델을 결합한 수치모델인 CADMAS-SURF를 이용하였으며, 구조물 단면형상 변화를 이용해 와의 상호 간섭을 유도하였고, 이에 따른 투과율 변화를 관찰 하였다. 결과를 살펴보면 요철1 단면에서는 구조물 전면 하단부분과 구조물 후면 하단부분에서 와의 간섭이 일어났으며 가장 아래 요철 부분에서 유속의 전달현상이 보인다. 투과계수는 일반적인 부유식 방파제와 마찬가지로 L/B가 1~4사이 값인, 비교적 단주기에서는 0.3~0.4의 투과율을 보였으나 L/B가 5를 넘어가면서 0.45~0.55의 투과율을 보였고, 요철2 단면에서는 전면과 후면에서 발달한 와가 전, 후면 돌출부에 의해 바닥까지 전파되지 못하는 양상을 보였으며, 돌출부 사이 중앙부분에서 가장 활발한 와의 간섭을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 돌출부 아래에서 역시 강력한 와의 간섭을 보이고 있다. 투과율 역시 가장 낮은 값을 보였으며 비교적 단주기 구간인 B/L 1~4 에서는 0.2~0.35 사이의 값을 가졌으며 5~10사이구간에서는 0.35~0.34의 값을 보이고 있다. 이 같은 결과는 와의 간섭이 가장 활발하게 나타난 결과로 보인다. 그리고 요철 3단면에서는 전면 돌출부 끝단에서의 활발한 와의 간섭을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 투과율은 세 단면 중 가장 높은 값의 투과율을 보이지만 B/L 3~4 구간에서 요철1 경우보다 낮은 값의 투과율을 보이고 있다. 결과에서 보듯이 도출부의 적절한 조합과 배치를 통해 언급한 연구목표(와의 생성과 간섭, 방파효율 개선)를 달성하였고 추후에 돌출부의 크기와 배치, 흘수의 영향, 수심의 영향 등을 고려한 연구가 진행된다면 더욱 우수한 단면형상을 개발 할 것이라 예상된다.

PREDICTION OF SEPARATION TRAJECTORY FOR TSTO LAUNCH VEHICLE USING DATABASE BASED ON STEADY STATE ANALYSIS (정상 해석 기반의 데이터베이스를 이용한 TST 비행체의 분리 궤도 예측)

  • In this paper, prediction of separation trajectory for Two-stage-To-Orbit space launch vehicle has been numerically simulated by using an aerodynamic database based on steady state analysis. Aerodynamic database were obtained for matrix of longitudinal and vertical positions. The steady flow simulations around the launch vehicle have been made by using a 3-D RANS flow solver based on unstructured meshes. For this purpose, a vertex-centered finite-volume method was adopted to discretize inviscid and viscous fluxes. Roe's finite difference splitting was utilized to discretize the inviscid fluxes, and the viscous fluxes were computed based on central differencing. To validate this flow solver, calculations were made for the wind-tunnel experiment model of the LGBB TSTO vehicle configuration on steady state conditions. Aerodynamic database was constructed by using flow simulations based on test matrix from the wind-tunnel experiment. ANN(Artificial Neural Network) was applied to construct interpolation function among aerodynamic variables. Separation trajectory for TSTO launch vehicle was predicted from 6-DOF equation of motion based on the interpolated function. The result of present separation trajectory calculation was compared with the trajectory using experimental database. The predicted results for the separation trajectory shows fair agreement with reference[4] solution.

Numerical simulation of flow characteristics and pollutant transport at river confluence (하천 합류부의 흐름특성 및 오염물의 혼합거동 모의)

  • 하천 합류부에서 수체의 흐름은 매우 역동적으로 변화하며 합류부의 복잡한 3차원 흐름과 난류 구조는 2차류(secondary currents)의 강도변화, 전단층(shear layer)의 뒤틀림 그리고 재순환구역(recirculation zone)의 발생 등 합류부에서의 독특한 특징을 형성한다. 이러한 특징들의 변화는 수체의 흐름구조 뿐만 아니라 하천으로 유입된 오염물의 거동에도 영향을 준다. 기존의 합류부 연구들은 주로 본류와 지류의 합류각이나 유량비에 차이를 두어 합류부의 특징 변화를 모의하였다. 하지만 실제 자연하천에서 홍수방지를 위한 수심확보, 건축자재의 골재수집 등 다양한 목적으로 수행되는 본류의 준설작업으로 인해 발생하는 본류와 지류의 하상면 단차 또한 합류부의 특성에 영향을 미치는 주요한 인자 중 하나이다. 단차가 커짐에 따라 증가하는 지류수체의 낙차는 이차류의 강화를 야기하며 이는 합류부에서의 유속구조를 변화시켜 흐름을 가속시키거나 지체시키며 오염물의 혼합에 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 3차원 수치모의를 통해 90도로 합류되는 수로에서의 흐름구조와 오염물의 혼합에 단차비와 유량비가 미치는 영향을 모의하였다. 유동장 해석을 위해 3차원 RANS (Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stoke) 방정식을 사용하였으며 난류해석은 k-𝜔 SST 모델을 이용하였다. 본류의 경우 11.4m의 수로 연장을 갖고, 하폭은 0.3m이며 수심은 단차의 크기에 따라 변화한다. 지류의 경우는 수로연장 1m, 하폭 및 수로깊이는 0.1m이다. 수치결과의 검증을 위해 이주하(2013)이 수행한 실내 합류수로의 실험결과를 이용하였다. 모의결과를 통해 파악한 합류부의 흐름특성을 이용하여 적절한 2차원 분산계수를 산정한다. 자연하천에서 오염물의 혼합거동을 효과적으로 모의하기 위해 수심 평균된 2차원 이송-분산모형을 이용하는데 이때 적절한 분산계수의 산정이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 합류 후 흐름방향에 따라 분산특성이 상이한 구간을 구분하여 분산계수를 산정하였으며 이를 통해 오염물의 거동을 정확하게 모의하였다.

The Effect of Skewness of Nonlinear Waves on the Transmission Rate through a Porous Wave Breaker (파형의 왜도가 투과성 방파제 투과율에 미치는 영향)

  • It has been presumed that highly nonlinear skewed waves frequently observed in a surf zone could significantly influence the transmission behaviour via a porous wave breaker due to its larger inertia force than its nonlinear counterparts of zero skewness [Cnoidal waves]. In this study, in order to confirm this perception, a numerical simulation has been implemented for 6 waves the skewness of that range from 1.02 to 1.032. A numerical simulation are based on the Tool Box called as the ihFoam that has its roots on the OpenFoam. Skewed waves are guided by the shoal of 1:30 slope, and the flow in the porous media are analyzed by adding the additional damping term into the RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equation). Numerical results show that the highly nonlinear skewed waves are of higher transmitted ratio than its counterparts due to its stronger inertia force. In this study, in order to see whether or not the damping at the porous structure has an effect on the wave celerity, we also derived the dispersive relationships of Nonlinear Shallow Water Eq. [NSW] with damping at the porous structure being accounted. The newly derived dispersive relationships shows that the phase lag between the damping friction and the free surface elevation due to waves significantly influence the wave celerity.

A Study on Improvement γ-Reθt Model for Hypersonic Boundary Layer Analysis (극 초음속 경계층 해석을 위한 γ-Reθt모델 개선 연구)

  • Since boundary layer transition has a significant impact on the aero-thermodynamic performance of hypersonic flight vehicles, capability of accurate prediction of transition location is essential for design and performance analysis. In this study, γ-Reθt model is improved to predict transition of hypersonic boundary layers and validated. A coefficient in the production term of the intermittency transport equation that affects the transition onset location is constructed and applied as a function of Mach number, wall temperature, and freestream stagnation temperature based on the similarity numerical solution of compressible boundary layer. To take into account a Mach number dependency of transition onset momentum thickness Reynolds number and transition length, additional correlation equations are determined as function of Mach number and applied to Reθc and Flength correlations of the baseline model. The suggested model is implemented to a commercial CFD code in consideration of practical use. Analysis of hypersonic flat plate and circular cone boundary layers is carried out by using the model for validation purpose. An improvement of prediction capability with respect to variation of Mach number and unit Reynolds number is identified from the comparison with experimental data.

Development of Two Dimensional Blade Section with High Efficiency for Marine Propeller (선박 프로펠러용 고효율 2차원 날개단면 개발)

  • This paper contains a new approach to blade section design method for marine propellers. The hydrodynamic characteristics of 2-D section are highly influenced by its geometrical parameters i.e., thickness and camber distributions and leading edge radius etc. To consider fully turbulent flow field near 2-D section. the finite volume method with k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulent model which solve Reynolds time averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equation is applied. In this study, O-type grid system that can provide many calculation points on blade surface is used. The results were compared with those of the experiment of NACA0012 to confirm the accuracy of the developed codes. The goal of this study is the development of a blade section with high efficiency and low drag. To achieve this, we carried out the tests of lift, drag and cavitation characteristics in cavitation tunnel. The results of experiment were compared with numerical results in order to validate the proposed blades design method. By comparing the numerical results with the experiments, we found that the new blade section, KH28 allows superior performance in efficiency and cavitation avoidance characteristics. We further investigated the blade section design method and an application study of this section, KH28 to apply to the marine propeller. In order to improve the accuracy of numerical results on prediction of lift and drag, we conclude here that the 2-layer boundary model must be used.

Design Optimization of Multi-element Airfoil Shapes to Minimize Ice Accretion (결빙 증식 최소화를 위한 다중 익형 형상 최적설계)

  • Ice accretion on the aircraft components, such as wings, fuselage, and empennage, can occur when the aircraft encounters a cloud zone with high humidity and low temperature. The prevention of ice accretion is important because it causes a decrease in the aerodynamic performance and flight stability, thus leading to fatal safety problems. In this study, a shape design optimization of a multi-element airfoil is performed to minimize the amount of ice accretion on the high-lift device including leading-edge slat, main element, and trailing-edge flap. The design optimization framework proposed in this paper consists of four major parts: air flow, droplet impingement and ice accretion simulations and gradient-free optimization algorithm. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulation is used to predict the aerodynamic performance and flow field around the multi-element airfoil at the angle of attack 8°. Droplet impingement and ice accretion simulations are conducted using the multi-physics computational analysis tool. The objective function is to minimize the total mass of ice accretion and the design variables are the deflection angle, gap, and overhang of the flap and slat. Kriging surrogate model is used to construct the response surface, providing rapid approximations of time-consuming function evaluation, and genetic algorithm is employed to find the optimal solution. As a result of optimization, the total mass of ice accretion on the optimized multielement airfoil is reduced by about 8% compared to the baseline configuration.

Numerical comparative investigation on blade tip vortex cavitation and cavitation noise of underwater propeller with compressible and incompressible flow solvers (압축성과 비압축성 유동해석에 따른 수중 추진기 날개 끝 와류공동과 공동소음에 대한 수치비교 연구)

  • Without any validation of the incompressible assumption, most of previous studies on cavitation flow and its noise have utilized numerical methods based on the incompressible Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations because of advantage of its efficiency. In this study, to investigate the effects of the flow compressibility on the Tip Vortex Cavitation (TVC) flow and noise, both the incompressible and compressible simulations are performed to simulate the TVC flow, and the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings (FW-H) integral equation is utilized to predict the TVC noise. The DARPA Suboff submarine body with an underwater propeller of a skew angle of 17 degree is targeted to account for the effects of upstream disturbance. The computation domain is set to be same as the test-section of the large cavitation tunnel in Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering to compare the prediction results with the measured ones. To predict the TVC accurately, the Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation (DDES) technique is used in combination with the adaptive grid techniques. The acoustic spectrum obtained using the compressible flow solver shows closer agreement with the measured one.
