Korean first graders' word decoding skills, phonological awareness, rapid automatized naming, and letter knowledge with/without developmental dyslexia (초등 1학년 발달성 난독 아동의 낱말 해독, 음운인식, 빠른 이름대기, 자소 지식)

  • This study aims to compare the word decoding skills, phonological awareness (PA), rapid automatized naming (RAN) skills, and letter knowledge of first graders with developmental dyslexia (DD) and those who were typically developing (TD). Eighteen children with DD and eighteen TD children, matched by nonverbal intelligence and discourse ability, participated in the study. Word decoding of Korean language-based reading assessment(Pae et al., 2015) was conducted. Phoneme-grapheme correspondent words were analyzed according to whether the word has meaning, whether the syllable has a final consonant, and the position of the grapheme in the syllable. Letter knowledge asked about the names and sounds of 12 consonants and 6 vowels. The children's PA of word, syllable, body-coda, and phoneme blending was tested. Object and letter RAN was measured in seconds. The decoding difficulty of non-words was more noticeable in the DD group than in the TD one. The TD children read the syllable initial and syllable final position with 99% correctness. Children with DD read with 80% and 82% correctness, respectively. In addition, the DD group had more difficulty in decoding words with two patchims when compared with the TD one. The DD group read only 57% of words with two patchims correctly, while the TD one read 91% correctly. There were significant differences in body-coda PA, phoneme level PA, letter RAN, object RAN, and letter-sound knowledge between the two groups. This study confirms the existence of Korean developmental dyslexics, and the urgent need for the inclusion of a Korean-specific phonics approach in the education system.

Performance for Radio Access Network in mobile backhaul network (이동 백홀 망에서 Radio Access Network의 성능)

  • RAN in mobile backhaul network connects base station to mobile backhaul network. This the interfaces for several generations mobile communication technologies, such as TDM, ATM, and Ethernet in cell site, and then Ethernet in mobile backhaul site. In near future, the mobile communication network will be changed to all IP/Ethernet one, and then ultimately Ethernet and TDM traffics will be transferred through IP network. So these technologies have to be encapsulated for transferring to the mobile backhaul network. The performances are measured for each encapsulation, such as ATM, MPLS, IP/UDP, and MEF8.

Anatomical Considerations of the Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve During Thyroidectomy (갑상선 수술중 반회 후두 신경의 해부학적 고찰)

  • This study reports a prospective analysis of anatomical variations of recurrent laryngeal nerves during 300 thyroidectomies. During thyroidectomies for variable thyroid diseases. the course of recurrent laryngeal nerve was completely isolated from root of neck to the inferior comus of thyroid cartilage. In left side, nerve(53.7%) predominantly ran posterior to the inferior thyroidal artery(p<0.05) but in right side there was no predominant pattern. There were three nonrecurrent laryngeal nerves in the right side. About half of the cases in both sides(51.2% in right, 50.5% in left side) had one or more branches before terminating at cricothyroidal muscles. The average length of branches from inferior comus of thyroid cartilage to the origination of individual branch were l2.0mm in right side and 13.3mm in left side. In right side, majority(50.7%) of nerves ran though paratracheal space but difference did not reach the statistical but in left side, majority(88.3%) ran through tracheoesophageal groove and it was the dominant pattern(p<0.01), the overall status of passages of the nerve were relatively straight in left side(straight 87.8%, oblique 52.1%).

Thermal and Internal Ballistic Properties of Nitrocellulose Based Gun Propellant Including RDX (RDX를 함유한 니트로셀루로스 조성 총포 추진제의 열적 및 강내탄도 특성)

  • To develop a gun propellant composition with high insensitivity and high energy, we formulated a composition by adding RDX into the nitrocellulose(NC) based propellant. The flame temperature of the RDX added NC(RAN) propellant was higher than that of neat NC propellant. The kinetic muzzle energy of RAN propellant was close to that of JA2 propellant at room temperature($21^{\circ}C$). The difference of kinetic muzzle energy of RAN propellant between high and room temperature settings as well as between a low and room temperature settings were less compared to those of JA2 propellant.

Study on the discourse functions of Ranhou in Mandarin Chinese - Focused on radio call-in programme (현대중국어 '연후(然後)'의 담화기능 소고 - 전화참여 라디오 프로그램을 대상으로)

  • This paper aims to probe into the meaning of Ranhou in Mandarin Chinese and to account for discourse functions of it in radio call-in programme. For this purpose, the present study investigates the meaning of Ran and Hou repectively at first and explains the change of meaning of Ranhou, because we assume that Ranhou is compounded by Ran and Hou, and the core meaning is derived from its compounded meaning. Then we examine which time category Ranhou belongs to more based on the concept of time(reference, event, discourse) in Schiffrin(1987), and examine also where it is located within turn. Following this examination, we analysis and explain discourse functions what it is situated. Therethrough, we understand that 1) Ran has 'agreement or confirmation of preceded utterance' therefore has anaphoric meaning, and Hou has 'after' in the meaning cline: back of body-back part-behind-after-retarded(proposed by Heine et al. 1991), so that Ranhou has 'after agreement or confirmation of preceded utterance of mine' and extends to 'on premise preceded utterance or event' furthermore, and therefore can have possibility having various functions; 2) Ranhou has various functions in natural language in spite of the institutional setting. It can indicate (1) temporal relation of events, (2) logic relation of two(or more) events, e.g. causality, elaboration, concession, list, (3) turn maintence, acquisition, management, (4) verbal filler.

Real-time RL-based 5G Network Slicing Design and Traffic Model Distribution: Implementation for V2X and eMBB Services

  • As 5G mobile systems carry multiple services and applications, numerous user, and application types with varying quality of service requirements inside a single physical network infrastructure are the primary problem in constructing 5G networks. Radio Access Network (RAN) slicing is introduced as a way to solve these challenges. This research focuses on optimizing RAN slices within a singular physical cell for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) and enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) UEs, highlighting the importance of adept resource management and allocation for the evolving landscape of 5G services. We put forth two unique strategies: one being offline network slicing, also referred to as standard network slicing, and the other being Online reinforcement learning (RL) network slicing. Both strategies aim to maximize network efficiency by gathering network model characteristics and augmenting radio resources for eMBB and V2X UEs. When compared to traditional network slicing, RL network slicing shows greater performance in the allocation and utilization of UE resources. These steps are taken to adapt to fluctuating traffic loads using RL strategies, with the ultimate objective of bolstering the efficiency of generic 5G services.
