Analysis of Downlink Wideband DS-CDMA Systems with Smart Antenna for Different Spreading Bandwidths in Wideband Multipath Channel

  • In this paper, the Eigen-RAKE receiver in wideband direct sequence code-division multiple access(DS-CDMA) systems with downlink smart antenna is analyzed for different spreading bandwidths(1.25 MHz, 5 MHz, 10 MHz) and different channel environments(macro, micro). The realistic spatio-temporal wideband multipath channel is assumed, one of which is standardized multiple-input single-output(MISO) radio channel model for WCDMA link-level simulations proposed by $3^{rd}$ generation partnership project(3GPP) contributions. We assumed spatial scattering phenomenon in which many unresolvable path signals within a limited range of spatial angle simultaneously contribute to the signals received at the receiver. Several multipaths within one chip are distinguished into each one and the first multipath components are selected as the desired signal and the others are considered self-interference. Downlink DS-CDMA system with eigenbeamformer using wider bandwidth present better performance than that using narrow bandwidth system by employing Eigen-RAKE receiver of many number of branches. It is shown that the downlink eigenbeamformer is more effective in typical urban macro cellular environments when using Eigen-RAKE receiver.

Analysis of Channel Estimation Algorithms in a RAKE Receiver with MRC (MRC 결합의 레이크 수신기에서 채널 추정 알고리즘의 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we analyze channel estimation algorithms in a RAKE receiver with MRC. There are 3 popular channel estimation algorithms, which are WMSA(Weighted Multi-Slot Averaging) algorithm, EGE(Equal Gain Estimation) algorithm, SSE(Symbol-to-Symbol Estimation) algorithm. We analyze asynchronous IMT-2000(3GPP) which employ 3 different channel estimation algorithms by HP-ADS(Advanced Design System) simulation tool. We used lakes fading channel model for the analysis. from simulation results, we could observe that the performance of WMSA algorithm is better than others in low Doppler effect(3Km/h). However, in the case of high Doppler effect(120km1h), the EGE algorithm is more efficient. In this case the simple estimator with EGE algorithm seems to be more useful.

  • In this paper, the performance of an adaptive array antenna using Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) based on the signal structure for the IMT-2000 3GPP specification reverse link of an asynchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system are evaluated. In addition, the performance is compared with the array antenna using Least Mean Square (LMS) based on the training signal. The simulation parameters such as the number of multipath, mu10pa1h intensity profiles between path, spreading gain and multiuser etc., are considered in the Monte Carlo simulation. Simulation results demonstrate an adaptive array antenna using CMA may give more capacity gain than the amy antenna using LMS in the case of multipath fading channel.

Effect on Axial Rake Angle of Cutting Edge for Machinable Ceramics (절삭 선단의 축 방향 경사각이 가공성 세라믹에 미치는 영향)

  • The machining process of ceramics can be characterized by cracking and brittle fracture. In the machining of ceramics, edge chipping and crack propagation are the principal reasons to cause surface integrity deterioration. Such phenomenon can cause not only poor dimensional and geometric accuracy, but also possible failure of the ceramic parts. Thus, traditional ceramics are very difficult-to-cut materials. Generally, ceramics are machined using conventional method such as grinding and polishing. However these processes are generally costly and have low MRR(material removal rate). To overcome such problems, in this paper, h-BN powder, which gives good cutting property, is added for the fabrication of machinable ceramics by volume of 10 and 15%. The purpose of this study is an analysis of endmill's rake angle for appropriate tools design and manufacturing for the machinable ceramics. In this study, Experimental works are executed to measure cutting force, surface roughness, tool fracture, on different axial rake angle of endmills. Cutting parameters, namely, feed, cutting speed and depth of cut are used to accomplish purpose of this paper. Required experiments are performed, and the results are investigated.

  • In this study, peeling test of the Altari radish on kimchi pre-processing system for mechanization was performed with the longitudinal plane peeling type with wider cutting blade than that of the peeled chip's. To determine the optimum cutter shape to match this plane peeling type, the peeling tests depending on variable cutting speed, rake angle and blade angle using the blade with thickness as 2 m and width as 50mm were performed, and the patterns of the peeled chips and peeling resistances were investigated. As the result of the tests, the rake angle of the blade with clean peeled surface of the Altari radish was over $45^{\circ}$, and the blade angle and rake angle with the minimum peeling resistance was $20^{\circ}\;and\;60^{\circ}$, respectively. The optimum peeling conditions were; the peeling speed 0.2m/s, blade angle $20^{\circ}$ and the rake angle $60^{\circ}$, and the peeling resistance of each blade was 15 N.

  • Satellite-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(S-DMB) systems are single frequency networks which consist of a satellite and gap fillers. Though gap fillers are required to extend the coverage to NLOS(Non Line-of-Sight) area, the receiver performance can be degraded with a limited number of fingers due to the increased number of multi-paths. The paper proposes to use frequency domain equalizer(FDE) instead of conventional Rake receiver, where the guard interval is not considered in order to minimize the impact on the current S-DMB systems. Through a campaign of simulations, it is found that the proposed FDE is less sensitive to the number of gap fillers compared to the conventional Rake receiver, and can achieve a greater channel capacity in most channel environments.

A Study on the Cutting Mechanism and Energy with Saw-toothed Chip (톱니형Chip의 절삭기구와 Energy에 관한 연구)

  • In metal cutting various types of chips are produced in consequence of cutting conditions. Flow-type chips have been studied in most cases because they are easier to be analyzed, but the actual surfaces of chips are not smooth, but crushed. This paper deals with saw-toothed chips, special types of flow-type chips, which have deep concaves and high convexes and sharp angles on the free surface. I tried to establish the theory of saw-toothed chip mechanism through experimental observation, that is, the mathmatical model of the cutting energy and cutting mechanism through the geometrical observation of the chips by using a microscope. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The mechanism of saw-toothed chips is diffenent from that of general flow-chips. 2. In the case of saw-toothed chips, the shear angle must be measured by the hypotenuse angle and the rake angle, and the shear angle is more affected by the rake angle than by the hypotenbuse angle. 3. The friction angle is represented by .beta. = . pi. /4+ .alpha./ sub n/- .phi. which is different from Merchant's equation. 4. The pitch and the slip are greatly influenced by depth of cut, but the influence of the rake angle on it is small. 5. The normal stress and the shear stress on the shear plane decrease with the increase of the cutting depth, and they are almost independent on the variation of a rake angle. 6. The unit friction energy on the tool face, the unit shear energy on the shear plane, and the total cutting energy per unit volume decrease with the increase of rake angle and cutting depth.

  • In this paper, the performance of the parallel interference cancellation(PIC) with RAKE receiver is more precisely analyzed in the uplink multipath fading channel. There is some difference between the proposed analysis method and the previous ones. Namely, it can be confirmed that the proposed analysis method by using stochastical characteristics is more accurate than the previous ones. It is also verified that the analysis result is similar to simulation as the number of user is increased. It is assumed that the channel estimation is perfect and the delay of multipath is Tc in the simulation.

  • In the W-CDMA system, cell search is one of the imporant functions of the mobile station searching for a cell and achieving spreading code and time synchronization to its downlink scrembling code. For the methods of cell search to optimize codes, three stages are considered: 1) slot synchronization, 2) frame synchronization, and 3) scrambling code identification. Channels for cell search are Primary Synchronization Channel (P-SCH), Secondary Synchronization Channel(S-SCH), and Common Pilot Channel (CPICH). In this paper, cell search is analyzed based on simulation. Rake receiver provides improvement of Performance as an increase of bandwidth because there are more available multipaths. In this paper, the performance of W-CDMA system employing RAKE receiver is evaluated by computer simulation over the types of ITU_R wideband channel model and spreading rate. The result shows that the performance of CDMA adapting RAKE receiver is improved by the increase of multipath components in equal level of the received power.

  • In the present industry, there are necessary to cut not only iron metals but also non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, plastic and wood(Paulownia). therefore it had been made the studies of non-ferrous metals by many scientists. we hope this kind of study will continue. The purpose of this study is to conduct the basic experiment about influencing of change the side rake angle at turning of non-ferrous metals. As the results, the surface roughnesses were on the increase with a increase of side-rake angle at the case of the plastic, brass, aluminum, and paulownia.
