mmWave 레이더 기반 사람 행동 인식 딥러닝 모델의 경량화와 자원 효율성을 위한 하이퍼파라미터 최적화 기법 (Hyperparameter optimization for Lightweight and Resource-Efficient Deep Learning Model in Human Activity Recognition using Short-range mmWave Radar)

  • In this study, we proposed a method for hyperparameter optimization in the building and training of a deep learning model designed to process point cloud data collected by a millimeter-wave radar system. The primary aim of this study is to facilitate the deployment of a baseline model in resource-constrained IoT devices. We evaluated a RadHAR baseline deep learning model trained on a public dataset composed of point clouds representing five distinct human activities. Additionally, we introduced a coarse-to-fine hyperparameter optimization procedure, showing substantial potential to enhance model efficiency without compromising predictive performance. Experimental results show the feasibility of significantly reducing model size without adversely impacting performance. Specifically, the optimized model demonstrated a 3.3% improvement in classification accuracy despite a 16.8% reduction in number of parameters compared th the baseline model. In conclusion, this research offers valuable insights for the development of deep learning models for resource-constrained IoT devices, underscoring the potential of hyperparameter optimization and model size reduction strategies. This work contributes to enhancing the practicality and usability of deep learning models in real-world environments, where high levels of accuracy and efficiency in data processing and classification tasks are required.

아베-코닉 프리즘을 이용한 스코프 개발 (Development of Scope with Abbe-König Prism)

  • 목적: 아베-코닉(Abbe-K$\ddot{o}$nig) 프리즘을 이용한 2.6X 광학식 스코프를 개발하고자 하였다. 방법: 먼저 대물렌즈의 초점거리와 유효구경의 크기를 고려하여 아베-코닉 프리즘을 설계하였다. 이렇게 설계되어진 아베-코닉 프리즘의 광학적, 기하학적 거리를 계산하였다. 이 계산 결과를 이용하여 전체 시스템의 광학적 유효거리 및 배율을 만족하도록 접안렌즈와 대물렌즈의 초점거리를 배분한 후 시스템을 최적화함으로서 전체 시스템을 완성하였다. 결과: Face length 11.5 mm를 가지는 아베-코닉 프리즘과 4매로 이루어진 초점거리 24.3 mm의 접안렌즈와 2매로 이루어진 초점거리 63.13 mm의 대물렌즈를 설계하여 약 2.6배율을 광학식 스코프를 완성할 수 있었다. 결론: 아베-코닉 프리즘을 채택한 2.6배율을 가지는 광학식 스코프를 설계 제작하였는데, $6.42^{\circ}$ 이내의 반 시야각에서 50% MTF 기준치로 200 cycles/rad의 분해능과 103 mm 유효 광학적 경통길이와 12.0 mm의 유효구경과 31 mm의 경통구경을 갖는 컴팩트한 광학계가 되었다.

  • Background: The capability for DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) repair is crucial for inherent radiosensitivity of tumor and normal cells. We have investigated the clinicopathologic significance of DNA repair gene expression in nasopharyngeal (NP) carcinoma. Materials and Methods: A total of 65 NP cancer patients who received radiotherapy were included. The immunopositivity to Ku 70, DNA-PKcs, MRN, RAD50, XRCC4, and LIG4 were examined in all tumor tissues. Results: The patients comprised 42 males and 23 females, with a median age of 56 years (range, 18-84). The expression levels of RAD50 (0,+1,+2,+3) were 27.7%, 32.3%, 21.5%, and 18.5%. LIG4 (${\pm}$) were 43.1% and 56.9% respectively. The 5-year OS rate of patients with LIG4 (${\pm}$) were 90% and 67.9%, respectively (p=0.035). The 5-year TTP rate of patients with LIG4 (${\pm}$) were 75.9%, 55.5%, respectively (P=0.039). Conclusions: Our results suggest the possibility of predicting the radiosensitivity of NP cancer by performing immunohistochemical analysis of LIG4.

Measurement and Spatial Analysis of Uranium-238 and Radon-222 of Soil in Seoul

  • Identification of radon in soil provides information on the areas at risk for high radon exposure. In this study, we measured uranium-238 and radon-222 concentrations in soil to assess their approximate levels in Seoul. A total of 246 soil samples were taken to analyze uranium with ICP-MS, and 120 measurements of radon in soil were conducted with an in-situ radon detector, Rad7 at a depth of 1-1.5 m. The data were statistically analyzed and mapped, layered with geological classification. The range of uranium in soil was from 0.0 to 8.5 mg/kg with a mean value of 2.2 mg/kg, and the range of radon in soil was from 1,887 to $87,320Bq/m^3$ with a mean value of $18,271Bq/m^3$. The geology had a distinctive relationship to the uranium and radon levels in soil, with the uranium and radon concentrations in soils overlying granite more than double those of soils overlying metamorphic rocks.

하악골에 발생한 다발성골수종의 증례보고 (MULTIPLE MYELOMA OF MANDIBLE : REPORT OF A CASE)

  • 다발성 골수증은 다양한 증세를 보이는 형질세포로부터 기원하는 악성종양으로 40세이상의 남성에서 호발되며 alkylating agent 단독, 혹은 corticosteroid와 병용하는 항암제 치료로 생존율이 크게 증가되기는 하였지만 치료후 평균생존기간의 20개월 내외로 완치율이 그다지 높지않은 형편이다. 악골에서의 발생은 극히 드물고 대개 늑골, 편평골, 척추, 골반, 두개골등에 광범위한 patchy destruction의 형태로 나타나는데 악골에 발생할 경우 임상증상은 장기적인 무통성 종창이 가장 흔하며 때로는 동통, 악골의 팽창, 감각이상, 치아의 동요, 악골골절등을 보이기도 한다. 전신적증상으로 무력감, 체중감소, 빈혈, 신부전, hypercalcemia, hyperiviscosity syndrome을 나타내기도 하는데 약 10%의 환자에서 전신적인 amyloidosis를 보인다. 진단은 골수생검상 골수의 plasmacytosis가 10% 이상이면서 혈장이나 뇨전기영동법에서 monoclonal globulin peak이 있을 때 가능하다. 여러 학자들은 처음에는 독립적인 고립성병소로 나타났다가 장기적으로 다발성골수종으로 이행됨을 주장하면서 장기적인 추적을 권하고 있지만 골내 고립성 형질세포종(solitary plasmacytoma in bone), 수질외 형질세포종(extramedullary plasmacytoma) 등은 다발성골수종과는 다른 질환이라 주장하는 등 아직 많은 논란이 있는 형편이다. 치료는 $4000{\sim}6000$ rad의 방사선치료와 여러 가지 약제의 복합적인 항암요법이 사용되고 있으며 국소적인 병소의 경우 외과적 절제술이 추천되기도 한다. 저자들은 59세 여자환자에서 하악골에 발생된 다발성골수종을 치험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

Small and Large Deformation Rheological Behaviors of Commercial Hot Pepper-Soybean Pastes

  • Rheological behavior of commercial hot pepper-soybean paste (HPSP) was evaluated in small amplitude oscillatory and steady shear tests. Storage modulus (G'), loss modulus (G"), and complex viscosity (${\eta}^*$) as a function of angular frequency (${\omega}$), and shear stress (${\sigma}$) as a function of shear rate (${\gamma}$) data were obtained for 5 commercial HPSP samples. HPSP samples at $25^{\circ}C$ exhibited a non-Newtonian, shear-thinning flow behavior with high yield stresses and their flow behaviors were described by power law, Casson, and Herschel-Bulkley models. Time-dependent flow properties were also described by the Weltman, Hahn, and Figoni & Shoemaker models. Apparent viscosity over the temperature range of $5-35^{\circ}C$ obeyed the Arrhenius temperature relationship with activation energies (Ea) ranging 18.3-20.1 kJ/mol. Magnitudes of G' and G" increased with an increase in ${\omega}$, while ${\eta}^*$ decreased. G' values were higher than G" over the most of the frequency range (0.63-63 rad/sec), showing that they were frequency dependent. Steady shear viscosity and complex viscosity of the commercial HPSP did not fit the Cox-Merz rule.

상용 의학용 X-ray 필름의 특성곡선 (The Characteristic Curves of Commercial Medical X-ray Films)

  • For the purpose of determining characteristics of widely used commercial medical x-ray films, which are used for obtaining the Linac-grams for radiational treatment of cancers, we placed several commercial x-ray films at a fixed distance form the linear accelerator. After varying the exposed amount of radiation step by step, we could obtain a continually increasing density image for each film whose densities were determined by microdensitometer readings. The characteristic curves of the films were obtained by plotting the densities vs. the exposed radiation amounts, and their ${\gamma}$ values were determined. These values can be used to suggest a minimum necessary amount of exposed radiation to get a useful Linac-gram. The measured ${\gamma}$ values of the characteristic curves of the Kodak-DVP/RA-1 film were 1.73 when used 6MV x-ray, 1.70 when used 15MV of intensity. For the Konica-AX film, ${\gamma}$ values were 1.29 and 1.18 respectively. The result suggests that the effective conditions for high resolution of a L-gram be 6 MV of x-ray intensity and about 3 rad of exposed dose on a Kodak-DVP/RA-1 film.

  • Persicaria amphibia as an England native plant, is a rhizomatous perennial, one of the rather amphibious plants. Its aquatic form contains water-soluble sugars, starch, and protein. P. amphibia have up to 18% tannins in stems and rhizomes. Previous studies have confirmed the anti-inflammatory activity of live bacteria roots, but no studies on bioactivity are known. DNA damage responses (DDRs) pathways are considered a crucial factor affecting the alleviation of cellular damage. The ataxia-telangiectasia mutated and Rad3 related (ATM) and checkpoint kinase 2 (Chk2) pathways are the main pathways of DNA damage response. Also, p53 is a key integrator of cellular response to oxidative DNA damage, contributing repair, or leading transcription including apoptosis. In the present study, we conducted an investigation into the inhibitory effects of P. amphibia on oxidative DNA damage for confirming potential to complementary medicine and therapies. In conclusion, P. amphibia can provide protective effects against double-stranded DNA break (DSB) caused by oxidative DNA damage.

Environmental Contamination by Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato Eggs in Relation to Slaughterhouses in Urban and Rural Areas in Tunisia

  • Hydatidosis has become a real concern for health care institutions and animal rearers in Tunisia. The Tunisian endemicity is aggravated by the growing number of dogs and the difficulty of getting rid of contaminated viscera because of the lack of equipment in most slaughterhouses. Therefore, microscopic and molecular tools were applied to evaluate the role of slaughterhouses in canine infection and Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato (s. l.) egg dissemination. Exposure risk to E. granulosus s. l. eggs in urban and rural areas was explored in order to implant preventive and adapted control strategies. Microscopic examinations detected taeniid eggs in 152 amongst 553 fecal samples. The copro-PCR demonstrated that 138 of 152 taeniid samples analyzed were positive for E. granulosus s. l. DNA. PCR-RFLP demonstrated that all isolated samples belonged to E. granulosus sensu stricto (s. s.). An important environmental contamination index (25.0%) by E. granulosus s. l. eggs was demonstrated. The average contamination index from the regions around slaughterhouses (23.3%; 95% CI: 17.7-28.9%) was in the same range as detected in areas located far from slaughterhouses (26.0%, 95% CI: 21.3-30.8%). Echinococcosis endemic areas were extended in both rural (29.9%, 95% CI: 24.8-34.9%) and urban locations (18.1%, 95% CI: 13.0-22.9%). The pathogen dissemination is related neither to the presence/absence of slaughterhouses nor to the location in urban or rural areas, but is probably influenced by human activities (home slaughtering) and behavior towards the infected viscera.

중성자 및 감마선의 조사가 이배체 및 사배체 호맥의 종자의 발아 및 성장에 미치는 영향 (EFFECT OF NEUTRON AND GAMMA IRRADIATION ON THE GERMINATION OF DIPLOID AND TETRAPLOID RYE SEEDS)

  • 삼배체 및 사배체 호맥종자를 중성자 및 감마선에 조사해서 파종하고 발아과정, 지상부와 지하부의 성장, 건중량의 배가 등을 조사하였다. 특히 종자함수량이 방사선감수성에 대한 역할을 관찰하였다. 사배체호맥은 이배체의 그것 보다 속중성자의 조사에 대해서 지항성이 더 강했다. 지하부는 이부체호맥에 있어서는 1120 rads, 사배체에 있어서는 1400 rads 이하인데 지하부 보다 중성자조사에 대한 감수성이 높았다. 조사량이 낮을 때는 건중량성장이 촉진되는 효과가 있었다. 종자함수량이 낮을수록 방사선감수성이 배가했으나 함수량이 28%에 달했을 때 다시 회복되어서 높아졌다. 조사시 종자함수량이 23%를 초과하였을 때에는 6 K rads의 조사량에 있어서 지하부의 신장성장이 촉진되는 현상이 나타났고 지하부의 건중량성장과 조사시의 종자함수량과의 관계는 사배체 호맥 보다는 이배체호맥이 더 큰 영향을 받는다는 사질을 보았다. 지하부의 신장량의 반감을 초래하는 조사량단위를 기준으로 할 때 N/X의 effectiveness ratio는 이배체호맥에 있어서는 약 20.0 이였고 사배체호맥은 약 18.2 였다.
