Kinematic Analysis of the Badminton Drive Motion (배드민턴 드라이브 동작의 운동학적 분석)

  • This study is aimed at providing information on injury prevention and skill improvement by inducing the accurate movements in exercise as well as understanding the principles of badminton drive movements. Movement displacement of racket head showed the similar patterns among those surveyed but, it seemed that slight differences resulted from external factors such as height, length of brachial and forearm and individual trend of swing locus. Regarding upper joint angle per phase, the angles of shoulder joint, elbow joint and wrist joint were closely associated in taking drive movements and they supported the segment order theory that power was conveyed from proximal into distal. It was shown that angular velocity of upper joint became larger in follow through movement after impact among all those surveyed, which meant the importance of follow through in racket sports such as badminton. In conclusion, this follow through movement acts as an important factor in racket sports in terms of pose stability maintenance, pose correction of movements and injury prevention of joints. In summary, when swings are made according to segment order theory, efficient movements can be taken.

  • This paper reports a very fast lookup scheme for Optical IP racket forwarding. A LD by derived Pattern Generartor generate a optical IP Packet encapsulated by any header of level1 and level2. A high speed Lookup scheme for a forwarding has been implemented by EEPLD with tiny SRAMs for optical internetworking. With SRAM of a 10㎱ access time and ~400kB , the Lookup scheme has achieved very high speed lookup time about 100㎱ for 2 memory accesses

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse badminton players' drop-shots, in order' to make players understand the principles of drop-shot motion in badminton. Three dimensional analysis was used to measure movements such as the time required per section, the change of center of gravity, joint angle and speed, and joint speed. The results of this study revealed as follows: (1) top players are faster than amateurs in the total time required per section; (2) top players moved more in the x-axis and z-axis, while amateurs moved more in the y-axis; (3) the inclination of amateurs was greater than that of top players in all phases; (4) amateurs showed larger angle on the shoulder joints than top players in the first phase, while top players showed larger angle on the shoulder joint than amateurs in the second and third phase. Amateurs' angle was larger on angle joint in the first phase than top players' ones, while top players' angle was larger in the third phase than amateurs; (5) the speed of racket head of top players was faster than that of amateurs; and the velocity of the center of gravity of amateurs was greater than that of the top players. The findings of this study were that gravity decreases during impact and then the velocity increases to perform the follow-through and making the swing fast by increasing the speed of the racket head is most important.

3-D Kinematic Analysis According to Stance Patterns During Forehand Stroke in Tennis (테니스 포핸드 스트로크 동안 스탠스 조건에 따른 3차원 운동학적 분석)

  • Recently among several tennis techniques forehand stroke has been greatly changed in the aspect of spin, grip and stance. The most fundamental factor among the three factors is the stance which consists of open, square and closed stance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the segments of the body, the three dimensional anatomical angle according to open, close, and square stance patterns during forehand stroke in tennis. For the movement analysis three dimensional cinematographical method(APAS) was used and for the calculation of the kinematic variables a self developed program was used with the LabVIEW 6.1 graphical programming(Johnson, 1999) program. By using Eular's equations the three dimensional anatomical Cardan angles of the joint and racket head angle were defined. In conclusion, the first hypothesis, "In three dimensional maximum linear velocity of racket head would be significant difference among the stance patterns during forehand stroke in tennis" was rejected. The second hypothesis, "In three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk would be significant difference among the stance patterns during forehand stroke in tennis" was rejected and the result showed that the internal-external rotation showed most important role among the three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk The third hypothesis, "In three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of upperlimb would be significant difference among the stance patterns during forehand stroke in tennis" was rejected and the result showed that The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of shoulder joint showed most important role in forehand stroke. Flexion-extension and internal-external rotation the open stance showed the largest angular displacement and is follwed by square stance and closed stance. The fourth hypothesis, "In three dimensional anatomical angular velocity of upperlimb would be significant difference among the stance patterns during forehand stroke in tennis" was rejected and the result showed that X-axis angular velocity and Z-axis angular velocity the square stance showed the largest angular velocity of the trunk and X-axis angular velocity and Y-axis angular velocity the closed stance showed the largest angular velocity of the shoulder joint.

An Analysis on Kinematically Contributing Factors at Impact of Forehand Drive Motion in Squash (스쿼시 포핸드 드라이브 동작의 임팩트시 운동학적 주요요인 분석)

  • This study were obtained elapsed time phase-by-phases, displacement, user angle, velocity and angular velocity to analyse kinematically contributing factors at impact of forehand drive motion, on targeting three male players. The results of the study were presented as follows; In the forehand drive swing, the elapsed time by phases was a total of .52 seconds: .30 seconds from backswing to impact and .22 seconds from impact to follow-through, Considering the mean change in locations of COM of each(part$\rightarrow$body segment) at impact, racket head, left shoulder, right wrist and left hip, the left-right directions(X-axis) were showm to be each $.61{\pm}.03$, $1.19{\pm}.08$, $.66{\pm}.03$, $.94{\pm}.06$, and $.45{\pm}.03m$. The displacement differences of COM of each body segment were shown to be -.57, -.05, -.33, and .16m. For the vertical direction(Z-axis), the center of mass was lowest at impact and highest at E3. For the displacement of the right wrist on the left hip, the right wrist moved to .82m to the lower direction without change in the locations of the hip from E1 from E2. When the left hip moved .02m from E2 to E3, the right wrist moved .7m in the upper direction. In respect to the velocity of each body segment, the hip and the shoulder joint accelerated and then the wrist followed. Then the right wrists of all the subjects and their racket heads showed maximum speed, and an effective swing was observed. At the angle of each part, the angle of the right wrist was the smallest at the backswing and the largest at the moment of the impact. Then it increased gradually in the follow-through section. In respect of angular velocity for subject A, the hip moved and the largest change occurred. Immediately before the impact, the subject made a swing using his right wrist, his hip, and the shoulder joint, showing the maximum value, which was judged to be effective.

A Comparative Analysis of the Finger Pressure and Kinematic Variables in the Forehand Hairpin Net Shot According to Proficiency (배드민턴 포핸드 헤어핀 동작 시 숙련 정도에 따른 손가락 압력 및 운동학적 변인 비교 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the finger pressure and kinematic variables in the forehand hairpin net shot between skilled elite players and less skilled recreational players. Eight elite players(age: $18.1{\pm}0.8yrs$, height: $176.8{\pm}1.5cm$, weight: $640.9{\pm}48.6N$) with minimum of 6 years of experience and eight recreational players(age: $27.9{\pm}1.6yrs$, height: $177.1{\pm}6.1cm$, weight: $820.5{\pm}62.8N$) with less than one year experience were recruited in this study. For each trial being analyzed, four critical instants were identified from the video recordings: Right heel contact1 (E1), Right toe-off (E2), Right heel contact2 (E3), and Shuttlecock Impact (E4). Each hairpin net shot was broken into consecutive phases: E1~E2 (Right Landing Phase: RLP), E2~E3 (Sliding Step Phase: SSP), and E3~E4 (Impact Phase: IP). Temporal parameters, shuttlecock speed, linear and angular kinematics of body segments, and finger pressures were computed for this study. The results showed that The finger pressure of the ring finger and the middle finger for the skilled group during an impact had significantly greater than those of unskilled group. It is possible that all fingers were not used in the same manner when the racket was gripped in forehand hairpin. The result also suggested that the ring finger and the middle finger pushed the racket from top to bottom while having the mid-phalanx and proximal phalanx of index finger as an axis.

  • These days wireless sensor networks receive much attention from industry and researchers on various fields. The challenge is that wireless sensor networks have limited resources. Nevertheless, the route discovery in ZigBee sensor networks is performed by simple flooding when the original racket is rebroadcasted at least once by every node in a network. Such uncontrolled flooding generates an excessive number of packets competing for the media and causes a high collision rate. In this article, we propose a suitable packet Time-To-Live value to solve problems of uncontrolled flooding in ZigBee networks. It is shown that more sufficient route discovery in a ZigBee network can save network resources and lengthen the life of a sensor network.

  • FieldBus communication systems in industrial wired and wireless network may cause the degradation of the TCP performance due to the racket loss. TCP is particularly targeted at the wired networks, a packet loss is assumed to be caused by the network congestion. As a result, the performance of TCP decreases significantly when used over networks that exhibit a high bit error rate. In order to solve this problem, this paper designs and implements the WFSnoop mechanism which offers a fast local retransmission. The proposed mechanism does not require any changes in customer premises. Base on the simulation in the wired and wireless network environment, we analyzed the performance of the WFSnoop mechanism.

A case report of odontogenic myxoma with characteristic multilocular lesion (특징적인 다방성 소견을 보이는 치성 점액종의 증례보고)

  • Although odontogenic myxoma (OM) has various radiographic appearances, the characteristic features of OM are the multilocular radiolucent lesion, straight bony septa along the margin forming either square or triangular spaces. We present a case of OM in a 25-year old-male patient. Multilocular radiolucent lesion on the left mandible body showed tennis racket appearance. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) showed straight bony septa along the margin and cortical perforation. This CBCT features would have significantly contributed to allowing a diagnosis of OM. We think that this case shows characteristic radiographic features of odontogenic myxoma.

Odontogenic myxoma: a case report with recent image modalities

  • The odontogenic myxoma is an benign, slow growing neoplasm which is of ectomesenchymal origin. This neoplasm occurs almost exclusively in the jaw bones and comprises 0.2% to 17.7% of odontogenic tumors. The odontogenic myxoma may show a wide spectrum of radiographic appearances, unilocular, multilocular radiolucency and a distinct or diffuse border, making the differential diagnosis difficult. We present a case of the odontogenic myxoma in the maxilla with conventional and recent image modalities. Occlusal film revealed a medially extended multilocular lesion with intralesional fine and straight trabeculations from the scalloped margin and buccal expansion and thinning of cortical bone. Computed tomogram revealed lesion showed equivalent density to the muscles in the left maxillary sinus with partial cortical discontinuity of medial wall and the tennis-racket pattern with internal straight trabeculations. MRI revealed intermediate signal intensity on Tl weighted image and high signal intensity on T2 weighted image. In Gd enhanced MR image, the peripheral portions of the lesion were enhanced.
