  • In this paper, Pb(Z $r_{0.53}$ $Ti_{0.47}$) $O_3$+x[wt%]C $r_2$ $O_3$ ceramics were fabricated, and thermal aging effects on the specimen were investigated. After thermal aging, the temperature coefficients of their resonant frequence became stable and only the specimen with C $r_2$ $O_3$ additives in them could have lower temperature coefficientient

  • 고주파 고투자율 자심재료를 이용하여 비접촉식 커플러를 제조하여 고주파대역의 신호전송 특성을 평가하였다. 고주파 임피던스 매칭을 통해 고주파 대역에서 비접촉식 커플러의 신호전송 특성을 향상시킬 수 있었고, air gap의 형성으로 포화전류가 300A 이상이고 $2{\sim}40 MHz$의 주파수 범위에서 $-3{\pm}2dB$의 신호전송 특성을 나타내는 비접촉식 커플러를 제조할 수 있었다. 또한 1:1의 권선비가 1:2보다 주파수 안정성이 우수하였고, 1:2는 저주파용 커플러에서 우수한 특성을 보일 것으로 평가되었다.

DDX53 Regulates Cancer Stem Cell-Like Properties by Binding to SOX-2

  • This study investigated the role of cancer/testis antigen DDX53 in regulating cancer stem cell-like properties. DDX53 shows co-expression with CD133, a marker for cancer stem cells. DDX53 directly regulates the SOX-2 expression in anti-cancer drug-resistant $Malme3M^R$ cells. DDX53 and miR-200b were found to be involved in the regulation of tumor spheroid forming potential of Malme3M and $Malme3M^R$ cells. Furthermore, the self-renewal activity and the tumorigenic potential of $Malme3M^R$-CD133 (+) cells were also regulated by DDX53. A miR-200b inhibitor induced the direct regulation of SOX-2 by DDX53 We therefore, conclude that DDX53 may serve as an immunotherapeutic target for regulating cancer stem-like properties of melanomas.

Performance Simulation of a R744 Refrigeration System in a Refrigerator Truck under a Frost Condition (착상조건에서 R744 냉매 적용 탑차용 냉장시스템의 성능해석)

  • R744 has been appropriated for substitute refrigerant, because of its high stability, and environment-friendly nature as a natural refrigerant. To analyze the cooling performance of a refrigeration system in a refrigerator truck using R744 according to the blocking ratio, an analytical model of the refrigeration system was developed under frost conditions, using EES. The performance of the refrigeration system was predicted with the indoor and outdoor air temperature, outdoor air velocity, and compressor speed. As a result, the system performance decreased, with the increase of frost growth. When the blocking ratio was 40.4% in the basic condition, the refrigeration capacity was decreased by 27.1%, compared to the non-frost condition.

  • The objective of this research is to prove that an additive mapping T : R → R is a left as well as right centralizer on R if it satisfies any one of the following identities: (i) T(xnyn + ynxn) = T(xn)yn + ynT(xn) (ii) 2T(xnyn) = T(xn)yn + ynT(xn) for each x, y ∈ R, where n ≥ 1 is a fixed integer and R is any n!-torsion free semiprime ring. In addition, we talk over above identities in the setting of *-ring(ring with involution).

Association between expression levels and growth trait-related SNPs located in promoters of the MC4R and MSTN genes in Spinibarbus hollandi

  • Melanocortin 4 receptor: (MC4R) and Myostatin (MSTN) are two important growth trait-related genes in animals. In this study, we showed that two SNPs, MC4R-719A>G and MSTN-519C>T, found in the promoters of the MC4R and MSTN genes, respectively, are both associated with growth traits in Spinibarbus hollandi. Furthermore, we observed that there were significant associations between the expression levels of the MC4R and MSTN genes and these two growth trait-related SNPs. The expression level of MC4R gene in brain was lower in GG genotype fish with extremely high growth performance than that in AA genotype fish with extremely low growth performance. Expression level of the MSTN gene in muscle was lower in TT genotype fish with extremely high growth performance than that in CC and CT genotype fish with lower growth performance. The results indicated that these SNPs located in the promoters of MC4R and MSTN are associated with growth-related traits through modification of gene expression levels. The MSTN and MC4R SNPs may have useful application in effective marker-assisted selection aimed to increase output in S. hollandi.

Prediction and Experiment of Pressure Drop of R22, R407C and R410A on Design Conditions of Condenser (응축기의 설계조건에서 R22, R407C, R410A의 압력강하 예측 및 실험)

  • An experimental study on the refrigerant-side pressure drop of slit fin-tube heat exchanger has been carried out. A comparison was made between the predictions of previously proposed empirical correlations and experimental data for the pressure drop on design conditions of condenser in micro-fin tube for R22 and its alternatives, R407C (R32/125/134a, 23/25/52 wt.%) and R410A (R32/125, 50/50 wt.%). Experiments were carried out under the conditions of inlet refrigerant temperature of 6$0^{\circ}C$ and mass fluxes varying from 150 to 250 kg/$m^2$s for R22, R407C and R410A. The inlet air conditions are dry bulb temperature of 35$^{\circ}C$, relative humidity of 40% and air velocity varying from 0.68 to 1.43 m/s. Experiments show that pressure drop for R410A and R407C were 17.8∼20.2% and 5∼6.8% lower than those of R22 respectively for the degree of subcooling of 5$^{\circ}C$. For the mass fluxes of 200∼250 kg/$m^2$s, the deviation between the experimental and predicted values for the pressure drop was less than $\pm$20% for R22, R407C and R410A.

Short Circuit Waveform Control Type SMAW Welding Power Source Development and Characteristic Evaluation (단락파형제어형 SMAW용 용접전원 개발 및 특성평가)

  • The digital controlled SMA welding power source having the hot start current and short circuit waveform control was developed. The inverter power controller was used an analog circuit and the short circuit waveform controller was developed using a 8-bit MCU. For the evaluation of the developed SMA welding power source it were compared with a domestic welding power sources. Using the high titanium oxide type and low hydrogen type electrodes, the characteristics of hot start and short circuit was evaluated. Developed SMA welding power source shows good start performance. Also, arc stability and low current weldability were improved by the short circuit waveform control.

Evaluation of Response Modification Factors for Shear Wall Apartment Building (벽식 APT의 반응수정계수 추정에 관한 연구)

  • For earthquake resistance design, a response modification factor is used to reduce the design strength and it reflects ductility, reserve strength, redundancy and damping effect. But this factor has not theoretical basis. In this study, two response modification factors are compared and analyzed for shear wall apartment building.; the one is introduced by ATC-19 Procedures, the other is suggested FEMA-273 and ATC-40 through nonlinear static analysis. For the results, ATC-19 procedure gives a reasonable estimation to R factor. But $R_{u}$ by using FEAM-273 and ATC-40 methods is estimated so small in case of a minor or moderate earthquake region. Due to this fact, response modification factor is smaller than suggested load criterion 3.0. So, it needs to decrease wall volume and reduce the global strength and system stiffness for proper ductile behavior matching to domestic load criterion.

Orientation Control and Dielectric Properties of Sol-gel Deposited (Ba,Sr)TiO3 Thin Films for Room-temperature Tunable Element Applications

  • The effects of the mole concentrations of precursor solution on the microstructure and dielectric properties of sol-gel deposited $Ba_{0.85}$S $r_{0.15}$Ti $O_3$(BST) thin films have been investigated. The films were of single perovskite phase with strong (100) preferred orientation when grown on LaNi0$_3$ buffered Pt/Ti/ $SiO_2$Si substrates using a diluted precursor solution. Variation of the precursor solution concentration resulted in a different microstructure and, in turn, affected the tunability of the sol-gel deposited films. It was observed that leakage currents increased asymmetrically for the negative and positive bias voltage with decreasing thickness. Overall results suggest that those BST films have acceptable properties f3r applications as room-temperature tunable elements.
