방전플라즈마 소결 공정을 이용한 WC-Co-B4C 소재의 기계적 특성평가 (Mechanical Property Evaluation of WC-Co-B4C Hard Materials by a Spark Plasma Sintering Process)

  • In this study, binderless-WC, WC-6 wt%Co, WC-6wt% 1 and 2.5 B4C materials are fabricated by spark plasma sintering process (SPS process). Each fabricated WC material is almost completely dense, with a relative density up to 99.5 % after the simultaneous application of pressure of 60 MPa. The WC added Co and Co-B4C materials resulted in crystalline growth. The WC with HCP crystal structure has respective interfacial energy (basal facet direction: 1.07 ~ 1.34 J·m-2, prismatic direction: 1.43 ~ 3.02 J·m-2) that depends on the grain growth direction. It is confirmed that the continuous grain growth, biased by the basal facet, which has relatively low energy, is promoted at the WC/Co interface. As abnormal grain growth takes place, the grain size increases more than twice from 0.37 to 0.8 um. It is found through analysis that the hardness property also greatly decreases from about 2661.4 to 1721.4 kg/mm2, along with the grain growth.

공압과 정전기력을 이용한 스프레이 박막 코팅 기술 개발 (Development of Spray Thin Film Coating Method using an Air Pressure and Electrostatic Force)

  • In many electro-devices, the vacuum process is used as the manufacturing process. However, the vacuum process has a problem, it is difficult to apply to a continuous process such as a R2R(roll to roll) printing process. In this paper, we propose an ESD (electro static deposition) printing process has been used to apply an organic solar cell of thin film forming. ESD is a method of liquid atomization by electrical forces, an electrostatic atomizer sprays micro-drops from the solution injected into the capillary with electrostatic force generated by electric potential of about several tens kV. The organic solar cell based on a P3HT/PCBM active layer and a PEDOT:PSS electron blocking layer prepared from ESD method shows solar-to-electrical conversion efficiency of 1.42% at AM 1.5G 1sun light illumination, while 1.86% efficiency is observed when the ESD deposition of P3HT/PCBM is performed on a spin-coated PEDOT:PSS layer.

Ladle내 잔류(殘留) 용융(熔融)슬래그의 LF 공정(工程)으로 재활용(再活用)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Recycling of Molten Ladle Slag Residue into LF Process)

  • 전기로 제강공정 중 LF 공정에서 슬래그는 전기로(EAF)에서 이월된 슬래그와 출강 중에 조재제인 생석회, 돌로마이트 등이 용강 중에 투입되어 생성된다. LF 조업이 끝나면 ladle은 연속주조 공정(CCM)으로 이송되며, ladle 하부의 노즐을 통해 tundish로 용강을 내보내어 연속 주조조업을 하게 된다. 일반적으로 연속 주조공정 후 ladle에 남는 슬래그와 잔강(殘鋼)은 슬래그 포트(Pot)에 받아 슬래그 야적장으로 이송되어 파쇄 후 처리된다. 본 연구에서는 연속 주조공정 후 ladle에 잔류한 용융슬래그(잔강(殘鋼) 포함)를 전기로 출강 후에 ladle 상부에 직접 투입하여 LF 공정 초기의 슬래그를 형성하는데 활용하고자 하였다. 그 결과 LF 공정 중에 사용되는 생석회의 원단위는 2.2 ~ 3.2 kg/steel-ton 저감되었으며, 용강의 생산회수율은 0.3 ~ 0.5% 증가되었다.

석탄 합성가스로부터 효율적인 생물학적 수소 생산에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 R rubrum을 이용한 석탄합성 가스로부터 수소 생산공정에 있어서의 세포성장 및 일산화탄소 전환을 최적화하 는 여러 조건들을 조사하였다. 그 중 pH의 영향을 살펴보면 R. rubrum 세포성장에는 pH 6~7이 최적이었고 수소생산에는 pH 7 7-7.5이 최적이었으며 pH가 5.5에서는 세포성장이거의 이루어 지지 않았다. 또한 온도가 34 'C 이상 증가되었을 때 세포성장이 둔화되어 멈추고 안정적인 co 전환속도를 얻을 수 없으므로 $30^{\circ}C$가 R. rubrum 균주 성장과 co 전환에 최적온도라 생각된다. 또한 R. rubrum은 photosynthetic bacteria인데 이 세포의 성장에 는 벚의 세기가 1,700-2,400 Lux가 최적임을 알 수 있었고 co 전환에는 계속적인 빛의 공급이 꼭 필요하지는 않고 간헐적인 빛의 노출만으로도 충분하다고 생각된다. 또한 연속반응기를 이 용하여 600 rpm, $30^{\circ}C$, pH 7에서 합성가스 체류시간 110분시 co 전환율 약 53%정도를 얻을 수 있었다. 이 연구가 계속 진 행되어져서 photobioreactor의 개발, high pressure bioreactor의 이 용, 균주의 mutatIOn 및 전환능력 우수 균주 등의 selection을 수 행한다면 매우 높은 합성가스 전환율을 갖는 생물반응기 공정개 발도 가능하리라 생각된다.

Mg-Al 합금에서 연속 냉각 및 등온 시효로 생성된 불연속 석출물의 미세조직 특징과 경도 (Microstructural Characteristics and Hardness of Discontinuous Precipitates Formed by Continuous Cooling and Isothermal Aging in Mg-Al Alloy)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate comparatively the microstructural characteristics and hardness of discontinuous precipitates (DPs) in Mg-9%Al alloy, which were formed by continuous cooling (CC) from 678 K to RT and isothermal aging (IA) at 413 K, respectively. In as-cast state, the Mg-9%Al alloy consisted of partially divorced eutectic β(Mg17Al12) particles with a small amount of DPs showing (α+β) lamellar morphology adjacent to the β particles. The DPs formed by CC had interlamellar spacings in a broad range of 0.85~2.12 ㎛ (1.51 ㎛ in average) owing to the various formation temperatures in response to continuous cooling process. Meanwhile, the DPs formed by IA had relatively narrower interlamellar spacings of 0.14~0.29 ㎛ (0.21 ㎛ in average), which is associated with the low and constant formation temperature. Thinner and higher volume fraction of β phase layers were noticeable in the DPs formed by IA. Higher hardness values were obtained in the DPs formed by IA than the DPs formed by CC, which may well be ascribed to the finer lamellar structure and higher β phase content of the DPs formed by IA.

Mechanical Behavior and Numerical Estimation of Fracture Resistance of a SCS6 Fiber Reinforced Reaction Bonded Si$_3$N$_4$ Continuous Fiber Ceramic Composite

  • Continuous fiber ceramic composites (CFCCs) have advantages over monolithic ceramics : Silicon Nitride composites are not well used for application because of their low fracture toughness and fracture strength, but CFCCs exhibit increased toughness for damage tolerance, and relatively high stiffness in spite of low specific weight. Thus it is important to characterize the fracture resistance and properties of new CFCCs materials. Tensile and flexural tests were carried out for mechanical properties and the fracture resistance behavior of a SCS6 fiber reinforced Si$_3$N$_4$ matrix CFCC was evaluated. The results indicated that CFCC composite exhibit a rising R curve behavior in flexural test. The fracture toughness was about 4.8 MPa$.$m$\^$1/2 , which resulted in a higher value of the fracture toughness because of fiber bridging. Mechanical properties as like the elastic modulus, proportional limit and the ultimate strength in a flexural test are greater than those in a tensile test. Also a numerical modeling of failure process was accomplished for a flexural test. This numerical results provided a good simulation of the cumulative fracture process of the fiber and matrix in CFCCs.

감귤 과피 분말 기반 마찰전기 나노발전기 제작 (Triboelectric Nanogenerator based on Mandarin Peel Powder)

  • Discarded bio-wastes, such as seeds and rinds, cause environmental problems. Multiple studies have recycled bio-wastes as eco-friendly energy sources to solve these problems. This study uses bio-waste to fabricate a mandarin peel powder based triboelectric nanogenerator (MPP-TENG). The MPP-TENG is based on the contact separation mode. It generates an open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current of 156V and 2µA, respectively. In addition, MPP-TENG shows stable operation over continuous 3000s without any deviation in output. Also, the device exhibits maximum power density of 5.3㎼/cm2 when connected to a resistance of 100MΩ. In an energy storage capacity test for 1000s, the MPP-TENG stores an energy of 171.6µJ in a 4.7µF capacitor. The MPP-TENG can power 9 blue LEDs and 54 green lettering LEDs. These results confirm that the MPP-TENG can provide a new avenue for eco-friendly energy harvesting device fabrication.

상향식 연속주조법에 의한 Al-Cu-Ni 3원합금의 응고조직에 관한 연구 (On the Microstructures of Al-Cu-Ni Ternary Alloys by Upward Continuous Casting)

  • Continuous casting of the Al-Cu-Ni ternary eutectic alloys was carried out by the upward continuous casting process. The morphology of the ternary eutectic growth and the stability of solid-liquid interface were investigated under various growth conditions. It was possible to get the planar solid-liquid interface at the condition of $G_L/R=3.59{\times}10^3^{\circ}C\;sec/mm^2$ in Al-Cu-Ni ternary eutectic alloys. In Al-rich, Ni-rich and Cu-rich hypereutectics of Al-Cu-Ni ternary alloys, primary ${\alpha},\;{\tau}\;and\;{\theta}$ dendrites have grown as the leading phase ahead of the ternary eutectic composites.

퇴비화 및 탈취처리에 퇴비 혼합 교반 빈도가 미치는 영향 (Effect of Compost Turning Frequency on the Composting and Biofiltration)

  • The effects of turning frequency of in-vessel composting on ammonia emissions during composting of separated solids from swine slurry/sawdust mixtures and performance of biofiltration using the chicken manure compost were investigated. Separated solids from swine manure amended with sawdust was composted in a 226 L laboratory-scale in-vessel reactors under various turning frequency and continuous airflow (0.6 L/min.kg.dm) for three weeks. Three laboratory-scale manure compost biofilters were built to treat effluent gas from the composting of separated solid from swine manure amened with sawdust process. These experiments were continued over a period of three weeks. The composting of separated solid swine manure amended with sawdust and manure compost biofiltration system were evaluated to determine the turning frequency type that would be adequate for the rate of decomposition and compost odour reduction. The compost odour cleaning was measured based on ammonia gas concentration before and after passing through the manure compost biofilter. The average ammonia odor reduction in the manure compost biofilter was 96.9 % at R1 (no turning), 99.4 % at R2(once a day turning) and 89.0 % at R3(twice a day turning), respectively. The efficiency of ammonia reduction was mainly influenced by the turning frequency.
