This paper is the research on the heated CWDM optical transmitter for the wavelength compensation at the low temperature. In general, the wavelength deviation of DFB laser is around 0.1 nm/C. The wavelength of DFB laser shifts to longer(shorter) wavelength according to the temperature increase(decrease). Typical CWDM optical communication network has 20 nm channel spacing from reference center wavelength per each channel. There is some limitation problem in the range of operating temperature due to the channel interference. For solving the limited temperature range problem, especially at the low temperature, we use the heater on the DFB laser. As a result, we could realize the CWDM optical transmitter to meet +/-6.5 nm from reference center wavelength in the range of temperature at $-40{\sim}+85^{\circ}C$, which is applicable to the industrial field.
In this paper, a matrix converter with improved low frequency output performance is proposed by achieving a one-step commutation owing to a general commutation circuit applicable to n-phase to m-phase matrix converters. The commutation circuit consists of simple resister and capacitor components, leading to a very stable, reliable and robust operation. Also, it requires no extra sensing information to achieve commutation, allowing for a one-step commutation like a conventional dead time commutation. With the dead time commutation strategy applied, the distortion caused by commutation delay is analyzed and compensated, therefore leading to better output linear behavior. In this paper, detailed commutation procedures of the R-C commutation circuit are analyzed. A selection of specific semiconductor switches and commutation circuit components is also provided. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed commutation method is verified through a two-phase to single-phase matrix converter and the feasibility of the compensation approach is shown by an open loop space vector modulated three-phase matrix converter with a passive load.
Korean and three other languages (English, Arabic, and Japanese) were compared with regard to the compensatory movements in a VC (Vowel and Consonant) sequence and word. For this, Korean data were collected from an experiment and the other languages' data from literature. All the test words of the languages had the same syllabic contexture, i.e., /CVCV(r)/, where C was an oral stop and intervocalic consonants were either bilabial or alveolar stops. The present study found that (1) Korean is most striking in the durational variations of segments (vowel and the following hetero-syllabic consonant); (2) unlike the three languages that show a constant sum of VC, Korean yields a three-way distinction in the length of VC according the type (lax unaspirated vs. tense unaspirated vs. tense aspirated) of the following stop consonant; (3) a durational constancy is maintained up to the word level in the three languages, but Korean word duration varies as a function of the feature tenseness of the intervocalic consonants; (4) consonant duration is proven to differentiate Korean the most from the other languages. It is suggested that the durational difference between a lax consonant and its tense cognate(s) and the degree of compensation between V and C are determined by the phonology in each language.

Objective: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is characterized by persistent airflow limitations associated with chronic inflammatory response due to noxious particles or gases in the lung. Iron deficiency is associated with chronic inflammation, such as COPD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship among iron deficiency, iron homeostasis, and inflammation in retired miners with COPD. Methods: The serum levels of ferritin, soluble transferrin receptor(sTfR), and transferrin saturation(TSat) as biomarkers for iron deficiency and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hsCRP) as a biomarker for inflammation and hepcidin as a biomarker for iron homeostasis were measured in 93 male subjects. Iron deficiency was defined as any one or more of (1) sTfR>28.1 nmol/L, (2) TSat<16%, and (3) ferritin< $12{\mu}g/L$. Results: Iron deficiency was found 28% of the study subjects. Median levels of serum hsCRP was significantly increased related to airflow limitation of COPD(GOLD 1, $0.09{\mu}g/dL$ vs. GOLD 2, $0.17{\mu}g/dL$ vs. GOLD $3{\leq}$, $0.30{\mu}g/dL$, p=0.010), and was positively correlated with hepcidin(p=0.009). Mean level of serum hepcidin was lower in COPD subjects with iron deficiency(p=0.004) and serum levels of hepcidin was negatively correlated with %$FEV_1$ predicted(p=0.030). Conclusions: These results suggest that high serum levels of hepcidin are related to severe airflow limitation or inflammation and can decrease iron availability, regardless of iron status.
We have obtained high performance and low voltage driving OCB panel by reducing the critical voltage and retardation matching between liquid crystal layer and compensation films. The critical voltage in the panel has been minimized by flattening color filter layer and optimizing a rubbing process. In addition, an appropriate retardation of the film and LC layer has scanned to achieve low driving voltage and high transmission. The proto-type 17" WXGA OCB panel has demonstrated with less than 5V drive and over 80 degree for all viewing direction except for rubbing direction with over 90% of TN light efficiency.
Purpose : A method to estimate a real k-space trajectory based on a circuit model of the gradient system is proposed for spiral imaging. The estimated k-space trajectory instead of the ideal trajectory is used in the reconstruction to improve the image quality in the spiral imaging. Materials and Methods : Since the gradient system has self resistance, capacitance, and inductance, as well as the mutual inductance between the magnet and the gradient coils, the generated gradient fields have delays and transient responses compared to the input waveform to the gradient system. The real gradient fields and their trajectory in k-space play an important role in the reconstruction. In this paper, the gradient system is modeled with R-L-C circuits, and real gradient fields are estimated from the input to the model. An experimental method to determine the model parameters (R, L, C values) is also suggested from the quality of the reconstructed image. Results : The gradient fields are estimated from the circuit model of the gradient system at 1.5 Tesla MRI system. The spiral trajectory obtained by the integration of the estimated gradient fields is used for the reconstruction. From experiments, the reconstructed images using the estimated trajectory show improved uniformity, reduced overshoots near the edges, and enhanced resolutions compared to those using the ideal trajectory without model. Conclusion : The gradient system was successfully modeled by the R-L-C circuits. Much improved reconstruction was achieved in the spiral imaging using the trajectory estimated by the proposed model.
In this paper, we deal with the wavefront compensation capability of a silicon carbide (SiC) deformable mirror (DM) with 37 actuators for adaptive optics. The wavefront compensation capability of the SiC DM is predicted by computer simulation and examined by actual experiments with a closed-loop adaptive optics system consistsing of a light source, a phase plate, a SiC DM, a high speed Shack-Hartmann sensor, and a control computer. Distortion of wavefront is caused by the phase plate in the closed-loop adaptive optics system. The distorted wavefront has a peak-to-valley (PV) wavefront error of $0.3{\mu}m{\sim}0.9{\mu}m$ and root-mean-square (RMS) error of $0.06{\mu}m{\sim}0.25{\mu}m$. The high-speed Shack-Hartmann sensor measures the wavefront error of the distortion caused by the phase plate, and the SiC DM compensates for the distorted wavefront. The compensated wavefront has residual errors lower than $0.1{\mu}m$ PV and $0.03{\mu}m$ RMS. Consequently, we conclude that we can compensate for the distorted wavefront using the SiC DM in the closed-loop adaptive optics system with an operating frequency speed of 500 Hz.

The heterodyne He-Ne laser interferometer is the most widely used sensing unit to measure the position error. It measures the positioning error from the displacement of a moving reflector in terms of the wave length. But, the wave length is affected by the variation of atmospheric temperature. Temperature variation of 1$^\circ C$ results in the measuring error of 1ppm. In this paper, for measuring more accurately the position error of the ultra precision stage, the refractive index compensation method is introduced. The wave length of the laser interferometer is compensated using the simultaneously measured room temperature variations in the method. In order to investigate the limit of compensation, the stationary test against two fixed reflectors mounted on the zerodur$\circledR$ plate is performed firstly. From the experiment, it is confirmed that the measuring error of the laser interferometer can be improved from 0.34${\mu}m$ to 0.11${\mu}m$ by the application of the method. Secondly, for the verification of the compensating effect, it is applied to estimate the positioning accuracy of an ultra precision aerostatic stage. Two times of the refractive index compensation are performed to acquire the positioning error of the stage from the initially measured data, that is, to the initially measured positioning error and to the measured positioning error profile after the NC compensation. Although the positioning error of an aerostatic stage cannot be clarified perfectly, it is known that by the compensation method, the measuring error by the laser interferometer can be improved to within 0.1${\mu}m$.
